Great video Ben, extremely helpful. I hope all is well with you. Keep grinding 🤴
Awesome video as always Ben. Big fan of your content. Will run my first marathon this year in Valencia and I hope to see you there and get a picture together 😊😊
Wonderful review! So insightful and knowledgeable!! Thank you for your work!
Liked this a lot!! More of these please Ben 👌
Great video! I would love to see this for trail running shoes as well!
My top 3 trainers are: ASICS Novablast 3 for everyday training so comfortable. Saucony Endorphin Speed 3 great for racing as got 2 x PBS in 10K and Half Marathon, Adidas Adios Pro 3 for long runs up to Marathon and great durability (can be expensive). All great prices on Sport Shoes at the moment.
Thanks for the insightful video. It's Adidas Boston's for me. Currently using the 11s but happy to go to version 12 of it when needed. Energy rods, massive stack height, continental rubber outsole and plenty of colours to choose from, sold it for me. Give it a try.
The Pegasus 39 has been good overall, and they go on sale a lot. But I had to put in longer laces and use all the lace holes to get the heel nice and tight. The included laces weren’t long enough to do that.
My favorite daily trainer is the Nova blast 3. I am loving this shoe right now. Probably going try the mach 5 when i am done with these.
I watched probably 10 of your videos today, awesome channel and I just picked up some Noosa Tri 14's all thanks to your review!

That's a fun shoe.. enjoy!! Glad you liked the channel, thank you!
Fun video idea! And well executed as always ;) Favourite daily shoe: ASICS Novablast version 1 (I bought 4 pairs in total, and they last well over 800k for me, approaching 1000k for the first one) (unfortunately having blister problems with the praised version 3, both at the heel and in the toe box)
Difficult to pick a favorite for daily runs! I’d say it’s either the Asics Glideride 3 or the Hoka Mach 5 for me, depending on how ‘fresh’ my legs are feeling 😊
Thanks for the video! Its time for me to start looking into a replacement for my pegasus 35 😅
great reviews here. my everyday runnign shoe is hoka arahi 6, ive done about 200 miles in them and i couldnt be happier.
I have quite a few different shoes I use depending on how I’m feeling on the day but one shoe I couldn’t do without is the Glideride 3. So comfortable and leg saving and just coasts through the miles
I have arthritis damage in my feet, so need a rocker midsole, so it’s Hokas for me, Clifton or Challenger, but I’d love to try the Bondi for the extra cushioning. I usually get the older models when I can, but they often seem to sell out in my size 😢 Luckily our local running store usual has a discount on the newer models!
Saucony Endorphin Speed (2) for me. I've tried and sent back many others.. Machs, Novablasts, Pegasus, but the Speeds just fit great! Incredibly comfortable and great at all speeds. The toe box upper busted around 400km but other than that excellent durability. Approaching 500km in them now and looking for a replacement. Great videos Ben!

Ooops! I didn’t realise that. Thanks for correcting me!
Since I have to make my shoes last, I originally went to get a novablast. They had none, so wife let me upgrade to the Superblast. I have not looked back. Love running in the shoes so much. I am debating a cheaper shoe to rotate in, currently thinking the Adidas SL trainer.
Really nice breakdown.
I’m using Hoka’s ATR6 @£70 for my budget every day shoe. Great for everything from driving the car to running an ultra. It’s not great on mud, you’ll need Speedgoats for that.
I love the Superblast was able to get mine for a steep discount but the shoes are worth the money. Incredible stable for the stack height and you will not miss the carbon plate!

Recently switched from pegasus 38 to saucony triumph 20 and I cant recommend them highly enough for a daily trainer
For Daily Trainers, I would say Adidas SL is my favorite in the $120 USD range. I know some people think it's too firm but it's only firm for the first 30 miles or so. I actually prefer a firmer ride. It's super responsive and it does last around 500 miles. It's also on discount quite often.

Picked up a pair of Puma Velocity Nitro 2 with a big discount at ASOS.. took a while to really love them but they are good for everyday, and worked well when travelling for running and wandering around.. but when running hard I still cant beat my Saucony Speed 2s.. I think it's the way they roll. Perhaps I should try the Saucony Triumph for my everyday runs to get the roll with a bit more cushioning?
Sportsshoe are hving a massive clearcut at the moment, some great savings
Great vid as always. Vivo Primus trail knit-keep me moving injury free (albeit v slowly!) with the massive toe box and zero drop. I think it would take a long time to adapt from them sky scraper Asics lol but your ankle may benefit in the long term perhaps. All black running trainers make me feel sluggish & sort of clumsy for some reason Ive found, where as an all black football always looks smart.

Novablast 2 for me. Just a great all rounder and around the same price as the Pegasus.
Puma Velocity Nitro 2 for me. I've paid as little as £45 for a pair but I would pay RRP for them if I had to. Puma's excellent Nitro foam paired with their superb grippy Pumagrip. Good enough for summer lowland trails. Love 'em.

I ran Comrades in the Mach 5, didn’t miss a beat. Not a single blister or black toenail.
My favorite are two, because I'm a heavy runner. So I switch between Kinvara 13 and NB FreshFoam X More V4
I have Adidas Ultraboost 19, done almost 2500km and still like them. Now planning to purchase Nike Pegasus 40 👌
New Balance 1080s for me. Great all rounder.
Hot tip: the superblast is a Japanese product so at least in Japan they are significantly cheaper. Base price on the asics store in Japan is currently 22000 yen, or roughly $147 or 117 pound. That said getting the shoe from Japan is its own issue, but hey, if you happen to come here for some reason you can grab it at the same time.
My favorite definately the Adidas Boston 12. Great ride, for a very nice price.
Mizuno Waverider 26. I've been wearing Waveriders for years and they are very comfortable and they lasted me 750 miles.
I'm running in the Hoka Mach 5. My favourite to date and I can confirm what you're saying :) Love your videos, Ben!
My favorite daily running shoe is the saucony ride 16. The sauconys are very versatile. I have ran a half marathon and a couple of 5k races. I tried the ride 17 and they felt weird so I'm sticking to the 16.
thank you!
The Hoka Mach 5 comes in standard and wide - durability is a bit iffy, mine have lost the tread on the heel after only 50 miles ☹
Was thinking of trying the Hoka Mach 5 but was wondering if the drop is a bit low at only 5mm. Just starting my road to Valencia so on the long runs where you've parts to pick up the pace would this or something else do the job
Agree with the Mach 5 and Novablast 3, got them both and prefer the Mach 5 as they're more fun to run in. But the Novablast 3 offers way more value in term of durability. Got my first pair to 1100km while I had to replace the Mach 5 around 650km. Can't justify the purchase of a more expensive shoe like the Superblast or NewBalance SC v2. Don't think they're worth it for me as I really enjoy running in the Mach 5 or Novablast. Better save that money for a true racing shoe.
My big issue with some of the "newer" brands, is that, at least in Canada, and the parts of the US I visit, they do not make shoes for wide feet. I can use regular shoes for shorter sessions/workouts, maybe even a race day shoe that I'd only wear on occasion, but for a daily trainer I want a wider fit and many of the newer brands just don't offer it.
@Rudyrats
8 ай бұрын
for wider shoes you need a size that matches your length, plus a .5 at the end. if ur length is a size 11 and its not wide enough, get 11.5
I have the superblast but I’m not as fast of a runner as you so I find it a tad too firm for recovery runs but it works for tempo efforts (probably your easy pace 😂) I don’t really use everyday trainers I like the new balance sc trainer v1 or the Nike invincible run 1 or 2 for easy paces Superblast for longer tempo runs or new balance rebel for shorter And Nike vaporfly 2s for interval training For the long runs either Nike alphafly or the prime x strung (has to be the stung version tho as first version was to unstable, I was surprised how much difference the upper made ) For racing either vaporfly 3 or Mizuno wave rebel pro or alphafly I Wouldn’t use the prime x strung for racing because it’s cheating if you ask me… I think I’m unnaturaly a lot faster with lower heart rate for any given pace in that shoe
I am waiting for the Superblast to go on sale. Do you think it will last more than 600 miles? I plan to use it primarily for my long runs.
Lately I've been really liking running in the Pegasus Turbo Next Nature. Found them at an outlet and got them for $35 after markdowns!

I never ran in the first two versions and its my first pair of ZoomX shoes so with no expectations of either its been great. I actually quite enjoy a slightly firm ride.
Ben, I’m looking for a road to trail shoe which will allow my toes to spread ( class myself as have slightly wide feet but don’t need wide fitting shoes) but I don’t need the volume of space that wide fitting shoes seem to give. 4-8mm drop. Any suggestions? Thanks
what do you suggest for high arch feet? whats the best for daily training?
How does body weight play in to a shoe selection? 95kg+ and short runs only? Very interesting and well produced video.
Velocity nitro 2 has been a real good companion
id love to know what your thoughts are on this if you can make the video happen What are better? the original Nike Pegasus Turbo or the shoes that would compare now, so non carbon can do everything etc

I have the Hoka Mach 3 that I love for my everyday runs.
What shoe would you recommend for an age group triathlete, 5k pb 22min 10k PB 48min ½marathon 1hr48
So when Ben says wide or narrow, I assume you measure the base of your foot to get the measure but what width make a wide or narrow shoe?
My two cents: invest in a shoe that has a Pebax midsole. That shit is eternal. You're more likely to bust the upper or grind through all the outsole rubber before you lose any bounce. Saucony Speed 3 would be my go-to all around shoe.
Got a pair of the Reebok's recently for 70aud (about £35) and they've been a nice fresh addition to the rotation as marathon training ramps up!

Freet vibe for me, just better for your feet and running form then most running shoes with tech "you really need", especially for your daily trainer, in my opinion of course. Do take it slow and easy on the first runs though, you need to get used to it.
Hi Ben, you see a lot of mobility experts and physiotherapists today talking about running in minimal, barefoot and zero-drop shoes in order to prevent injury and tightness from the lower back down to the feet. I notice this doesn't doesn't seem to be a factory in your decisions. Can I ask why?

Brooks Ghost 14 for me. 600 miles out of my first set. Don't you wear any?
I'm a newer distance runner, IE not a sprinter. I'm looking for a pair of daily trainers around $100 US. They need to be durable and they need to not work against me when i train. I don't need any fancy enhancements like a plate. I just need shoes that will help me get stronger and last for many miles/k.
