Having the ability to store the Seamax in a large garage instead of a hanger is tempting ! The ideal of towing it to an airfield, parking the truck and taking off is inviting !!

There are other options as well that can be handled that way.. The Petrel is a biplane so harder to build in folding wings but not impossible if you look at the Supermarine Walrus ASR of WW2. There are some interesting designs to be found in the former Eastern European countries....and Russia.

@Rom vin Hi I unfortunately have no knowledge of Romanian or Moldova's regulations relating to this class of aircraft. I know the Poles and CZECH have flourishing light aircraft engineering industries often based on their involvement in Glider construction and have strong engineering bases. I would do some extended research and contact some of the individuals who have built or purchased the aircraft you are interested in. To see if they will share their experiences. I know theres a video on U tube showing a Canadian. Testing his Russian Twin before Flying it home. Theres also a Russian or Ukrainian guy who runs a flight training school and visits the American production facility of the more advanced Icon high wing pusher amphibian.

I can see the seamax fit on a regular yatch davit like you would with any dinghy since it's fully foldable and not particularly heavy, if you got the money and the licenses it sounds like a great combo.

@@flexairz Good to know and thanks for sharing. I'm sure you're fine but there is a legitimate reason why no new plane designs have bi-wings. You should research that reason if you don't know what it is.

Mike Thanks for the overview. I have My sea plane rating and tail wheeI endorsement. I am looking at amphibian float planes. I live in the SF Bay Area and like to fly around the gold country landing on the hundreds of reservoirs and lakes. I also want to carry lots of camping or bikes rafts and or 4 passengers. I have researched a few planes that fit my needs. I had four Missions to accomplish in my one purchase, First is I need floats and land on both land and water, second I need a min of 1150 useable payload capacity, and third I need a cross country plane that can cruise at 150 mph., and forth I want to pull off the floats and transform into a bush plane or put on skis. This also told me I needed at least 210 hp and wanted all aluminum, no cloth and weight is not over 1500 lbsI did find Thee aircraft that seam to meet all my requirements . I found a few option that meet these needs. Have you heard of a Bushhawk or a Tundra. And super Rebel, All are Canadian aircraft and cost between 125-175k Dream aircraft and Murphy I thought if you wanted to venture out into the experimental Canadian aircrafts. They seam to be the main ones that fit my requirements,

The Petrel is originally from France. The lower wing also gives way more stability in turbulence and on the water. Which is a big big plus on the water when maneuvering.

I understand you have hangar and storage space is no issue. But I am very surprise you don’t add any value to the Seamax capability to be able to fold wing, store very compact in hangar saving money. Also about performance … if you stick with the 912 engine and it’s low maintenance cost … seriously the Seamax performance characteristics are way better no ? I mean if you need a turbo to match the other aircraft performance … it’s a negative no ?

I think it should be possible to make a transonic twin jet that can land on water. with no compromise to its appearance and minimal weight penalty. Would be pretty cool.

$170,000 USD for 99 kts max speed. I think that’s way too expensive. But on the other side 6 hours can take you 600 kts away.

Would love to have an amphibian plane for unlimited landing options. Of the two in this video I would pick the Seamax for the folding wings, the easy entry and exit and view of the one piece canopy. I wonder why the Icon A5 wasn't included in this comparison. Off this list i would pick the Searey with sliding canopy. Thanks for this Great Video!

The icon WAS advertised before launch at around 190 grand. Sadly, due to lawsuits being brought by those who don't know how to fly and love to test the limits of the marvelous airplane at sub 500 feet altitude, they're now 500 grand. They won't be in business much longer, and it's a damn shame.

@@addictedtopussy69 First, I love your name. Second, I think it's at least 3 lawsuits. All blatant pilot error. Their flight engineer was doing an impossible low altitude stall or something equivalent. Even the A5 couldn't recover in time. Second was a major league baseball player. Serious issues and drugs. Almost looks like a suicide to me. Third was an idiot trying to take off in choppy waters and went directly at some trees he couldn't possibly clear. And he only used about 1/3rd of the lake available to him. Probably would have been fine if he had used more water. There's no such thing and never will be an UNCRASHABLE aircraft. But the A5 is about as safe as it gets. What pisses me off the most is the unwillingness of the surviving family members to accept the fact that their deceased loved one fucked up royally. And they want to take down a great company and deprive the rest of us of a FANTASTIC airplane

@@paigehunt3387 Thanks for the insight on the iCon. Thought what you said was interesting to look up. Found out that there were 6 crashes out of 100 made. 2 deaths and 4 of the crashes were uninjured. One was the designer Jon Karkow who has logged more than 600 hours and knows the plane inside out, test pilot, and planes engineer. Seems like he went into a deep canyon and couldn't climb out of it so he attempted to turn out of it but stalled. Part pilot error for being in that situation and part plane for not being able to get out of such situation due to low power or stall characteristers or whatever it was. 2nd death was with some famous baseball player who was on drugs and also stalled the plane on a turn because he couldn't clear the tree line. Another crash was from a turn stall when he couldn't clear the treeline as well. Of the 6 crashes, 3 were stalls. Quite interesting. Makes me wonder if the aircraft is under powered or has unmanageable stall characteristics. Thanks for the insight.
