The BEST EMBLEM RINGS in Fire Emblem Engage - A COMPLETE Guide for Skills, Inheritance, Optimal Use

Ойындар

Alriiiiight, so continuing on with the guide series, here is a full breakdown of the 12 main emblem rings in engage, not including the DLC ones. Let me know what you thought of these, as I decided to make it a complete guide rather than just the optimal pairings, so we're covering it all including skills and inheritance.

Being able to destroy archers and dagger units without putting a unit in danger is very powerful. Byleth on a Qi unit is pretty interesting too, since Byleths Rafail weapon nullifies getting crit'd on a class with super low dodge AND can half damage received. That combined with Divine Pulse helps fists/arts with their low hit rate is some nice synergy, def gives Art users a much needed boost. Kinda sucks that they only get luck boost through dance/instruct though.

The funny thing is that I can't even call any ring useless, is just that the good rings are VERY good, cuz even both Leif and Roy are very useful. Leif is very good for vantage sweeping (he's exceptionally good to clear relay battles quickly) and something like Anna + Light brand is probably a very good strat to do some gold mining. Roy, just by having a built in Miracle already makes him worth using, and although his AoE is not that impressive, is decent for crowd control by turning the area into difficult terrain.

His AoE engage atk is terrible. That fire crowd control technique can easily be done by a mystical paired with Corrin. You don’t have to use up your engage or even use a engage atk, it’s just a free tool. I’d argue it’s better because you get to pick exactly the area you want and be at safe distance. I saw an interesting set up that I'm sad to not see many people mentioning. Using Celica with Ivy allows Ivy to activate echo every turn which is guaranteed to activate her single minded skill on the second hit. In addition to this I inherited Draconic Hex which actually activates after the first hit of echo allowing me to effectively deal additional damage on every attack with increased hit on the second attack. A little minor but this also allows Ivy more chances to activate Grasping Void if you kept her in her mage flier class whatever its called.

What I love most about Beylth is if you put him on a sage, the +2 increases in range. with the thunder tome/(upgraded versions) you have a whopping 5 range. that is just bonkers. That on a sage anna or Citrinne lets you nuke anything, for 4 turns. +poits for having canter and a dancer nearby. that means 8 attacks that with normal canter are from a range of seven and with the canter + 8 range, more than most units can attack from without terrain in between.

An *extremely* important thing to note about Eirika's Lunar Brace and Gentility skills is that every instance of the skill is modified to the Night and Day mechanic. As in if you inherited Gentility on someone else and changed it to day. Not only that, Blue Skies and Eclipse Brace will also apply to *EVERYONE* when Eirika is engaged. They are incredibly expensive skills, but when you take this into account, it becomes very clear why they are.

Fun fact that I've not seen a lot of people mention, probably because it's not inherited a lot. Great video, really good insight on those emblems. To add some consideration to Leif as you also value inheriting skill here, once you unlock wrath from Ike. Wrath + Vantage is the best non-DLC skill setup for enemy phase by a lot. Equip Ike , boost bond to 20 and inherit Vantage on a unit with great SPD and ATK that can use a Tomahawk with blazing engraving and that unit can solo maps if they don't have enemies with 3 range or more. Most likely more valuable than Celica lategame and probably worth B rank just for that. Leif as an equip is questionnable, quadruple hit on an archer or sniper can give 1K gold similar to anna's passive but they have way less luck. While engaged with Leif, bow user will still be able to counter with adaptable but getting oneshot is an issue for those classes....but there are simply better emblem for bow user if those aren't already on someone else. Roy is even harder to argue for but he has 1 usable build : Roy with unyielding++(only cost 300SP) on an otherwise full avoid unit. Hold out and unyielding will prevent the guaranteed kill some emblem wearer enemy will deal (lodestar rush for example). Roy equipped + Unyielding++ + Pair up is basically the build to solo the game as Alear once you have him with enough avoid from SPD stats and engrave. Thinking about this now, you can even have 2 units running that, Roy +unyielding + pair up on Alear, and Corrin + unyielding + Hold out on a thief so you can act with Alear and cover with fog, to ensure making them ignore you because of AVO. Both 2300 SP builds, Roy wearer slightly more safe with Hold out+++, not sure you can get 5300 for Hold out+++ on a unit you won't attack that much with.

As if you pick up Resonance from Celica's Ring onto Celine pair that with Ephraim's half of the Ring and you can get quite a bit of free damage on tomes (minimum of +5 from Resonance and Bravery, to upwards of +8 damage with Resonance+ [which is not worth to upgrade to Resonance+ since it's just 1 more damage for tomes at the cost of 1k extra SP] and Bravery+). I like pairing Roy with Marth's hp restoration skill (forgot the name). He can survive with Hold Out, then next player phase he regains enough hp to put him over the necessary threshold. Marth can technically do the same thing but Hold Out costs thousands of sp while the hp restoration skill is only like 400.

I agree pretty hard. Roy might not have any flashy skills or game-breaking stuff like Micaiah / Sigurd, but his stat boosts are insane, providing essentially +3 to every major stat on most units when engaged, on top of his default boosts, Hold Out makes enemy phase tanking incredibly safe, and while Blazing Lion can be hard to use effectively, in tough situations being able to essentially lock down a huge zone of movement is vital. Also he's one of the 3 sources of a 1-2 range physical sword as an engage weapon, and of the 3 the Binding Blade is pretty cleanly the best, with solid might, high accuracy, non-crippling weight and a huge +5 def/res boost. Roy can turn pretty much any unit with well-rounded stats into an enemy phase monster, provided they aren't fighting Lances.

I think Roy's enormous +6 strength boost at max bond is really understated. In my hard classic run, my Kagetsu was getting kind of stat screwed on strength, so I ended up slapping Roy on him and he became something of a one-round machine, especially after inheriting base alacrity from Lyn. Roy's a great unit for units who might get strength-screwed, or for units who are already STR buff to make them hit even harder (because if they double, that's 12 more damage to all engagements). He's not got much utility aside from binding blade being a 1-2 range strength sword (which is something sword units also greatly benefit from, since Levin scales off magic), but sometimes that massive strength bonus is all you need imo ALSO, something not mentioned in this video is brave weapons on Marth. With the extra attack you get from him, you can ALSO double with brave weapons on it, meaning you can hit SIX TOTAL ATTACKS on an enemy. I had Diamant doing this later in the game with brave axes and brave swords, and he could pump out pretty hefty numbers. Also also, you didn't mention the swapping of gentility to bravery, even if your unit isn't the one who's using that emblem. I've not done it, but in theory if you had the SP, you could have every unit in your army gain +3 damage to each hit, just for spending 2k SP and keeping Ephraim out.

The defense boost boost Sandstorm damage and the build boost alongside build +5 allows Timerra to use the brave lance and spear without any speed loss (or the Brionac if you get 1 point from a level up). The best part is that she uses the Light Brand extremely well because of Sandstorm!

The Roy and Leif ring, while indeed the least powerful of the rings, have some decent applications. Leif's adaptability pairs extremely well with his Arms Shield++ (which everyone and their mother tends to forget). At Bond 20, with full control over the weapon triangle, this is basically a -7 true damage on any melee enemy (with Qi Adepts it may work on all weapons aside from Arts and Special, but I'm not sure if it'll prioritize countering or damage prevention). Paired with Vantage++ and his own passive buffs, he becomes an excellent ring for low build bulky units like Timerra or Alfred, turning them into real tanks. Inherit Ike's Resolve and you could be looking at a massive -12 damage, more if you inherit the higher versions. Alternatively, Seadall would probably appreciate the added tankiness if you wanna have some leeway to expose him to danger, it's not like he has anything better to equip. Roy on the other hand has one of the best weapons in the game, the Binding Blade, which is a candidate for best sword in the game with it's 1-2 range, good Mt and Hit and +5 Def/Res for a comparatively low weight. As for the rest of his kit, his passive stats compliment the Binding Blade's defensive boosts and gives a bit of Str, which is further augmented by his Rise Above on the right units, and Advance is a a pretty damn good skill you want on any sword/arts user, so having it on your ring gives you space to add something else like Speedtaker, Vantage++ or Unyielding++ for the combo. He helps out Sword locked classes the most, Sword Paladins especially, by giving them a lot of the tools they want for free.

As a cheeky combo, Sigurd+covert lets you do his override with Pass, which means you can rush to the end of the enemy lineup that's in front of your covert, then override back to where you started with extra damage lol... And Alear+Corrin is kinda broken since a -4 stats is kinda stupidly strong. Edit: Erika is stupidly strong because when you engage with her, EVERY unit with Luna Brace/Gentility suddenly gets Eclipse Brace/Blue Skies instead, which literally turns your units for those 4 turns into killing machines. Of course, the SP costs are huge too...

I had a blast using Leif's Arms Shield on Martial Master Jade. While using it can be meh on a sword, axe, or lance user unless you have Leif equipped, it's great for arts since you have 3 class advantage situations: knives, bows, and tomes. Putting Def±5 and Arms Shield++ is bonkers on her since Shielding arts can give another +5 Def and her Meditation skill gives +2 Res. Given that Jade has naturally high Def growths and Martial Master has naturally high Res growths, they both combine to make her a true "Iron Wall." Throw in S rank Ryoma ring for Bushido and that's another +2 damage reduction when outleveling. My level 12 Martial Master Jade can block 38 damage from bows and knives and 34 damage from tomes.

Great video Linkking, but I just wanted to say some important points I feel you missed out or skipped over, I hope thats okay: - you completely skipped over Micaiah's Thani, which can melt through enemy cavalry and armored units even in the latest chapters. Generals are the easiest victims, and its incredible for a speedy magic user, i like Hortensia the best. - Healing Light is a helpful inexpensive skill to help Qi Adepts and Staff Mastery is quite a cost effective weapon-tied stat boost skill compared to all the others that can make AoE offensive staves much more reliable. - Roys ring is better than people give it credit, at least imo. The strength boost for equipping it is more valuable than those from other rings, and coupled with Rise Above the stat swing is impressive for physical offensive units. Advance is also an affordable positional skill in a game where movement can feel restrictive at times, and Hold Out can be utilised quite nicely as a Miracle effect. - Lyn/Lucina having Killer Bow+Mulagir/Parthia i think deserves attention because they can allow any unit in a class that can't use bows to have a weapon against fliers, which are present and sometimes prevalent in several chapters. - Corrin is incredible. I think you skipped that when engaged, even outside Torrential Roar, enemies attacked by her and others within one space will all get locked down by Dreadful Aura. So she can potentially chain-lock entire groups for multiple turns. Shes great on Mystical units because they can use Thunder tomes to initiate Dreadful Aura from a safe distance while also being able to use the Flame Dragon Vein to hinder enemy advance. - Byleths engage weapon changes with class type.

I just wanted to add that I'm so glad they don't allow you to trade rings during the battles letting you experiment with each ring than trade around the Lyn, Byleth, and Micaiah rings. I doubt anyone will read this, but by late game, I just gave the Sigurd ring to my dancer just to guarantee they could reach whoever needs a dance. I also found the Lucina ring on Ivy quite good to help with her bad luck and I gave her the boots so she kept taking 10% of the health bar away since she could basically reach all of the enemies I was attacking with a proc rate of 70% when her bond was strong enough. Originally, I was giving the Byleth ring to Ivy, but now it's free to go on other units closer to your army for teaching stats and four way dancing. Also, I found that while Warp Ragnorak wasn't useful damage, it was still useful warping a unit to a specific square and doing sometimes necessary chip damage with 100% so a different unit could kill that wouldn't have been able to otherwise.

My personal favorites to yoink are: -Marth from his paralogue to skip all the reinforcements and the annoying army he has inside his room. -Red hair Alear, Lodestar rush is so dangerous few units can bait them, not to mention that chapter you never have everyone ready to pounce on the boss so bringing them to you allows for easier positioning. -Roy, saves time, makes it easier to gang up on him. -Lord Sombron phase 1: Why even play map when you can skip it and get to the REAL final boss. -Any late game wolf knight pair that can be troublesome, like the ones from the S bond ring paralogue.

Then in my maddening prep, I wanted to give Alcryst Lyn, but couldn’t decide on Kagetsu, then I had the epiphany. Give Kagetsu Eirika and inherit speedtaker. That’s cheaper, uses a ring I had little value for, and should have him preform better than he did on my Hard run. The lack of Alcrisity will have to be compensated by his Avo, or just killing outright. I just need to make sure he doesn’t fall of by then now that I have lost my power leveling ring.

Of note with Erika's Lunar Brace skill. It's 3000 SP inheritance cost is well deserved. Because when you inherit it it still follows the same rules as whoever has your actual Erika. Meaning Unit A can have Lunar Brace inherited. And unit B using Erika's ring can use the night and day command to swap between Lunar and Solar, and it will also swap lunar/solar on Unit A, so you can swap between more sustain or more damage. AND if unit B engages while using Erika's ring, unit A also gets the engage bonus of Eclipse Brace. Fun additional note about it. If you are on Solar Brace mode for the HP recovery it can proc on Engage skills.

Good takes although I don't know how I feel about Roy being so low since I found him a lot more useful compared to Leif with his kits. Blazing Lion does have decent aoe damage and setting 6 tiles on fire allowed me to stall enemies at least from my experience. I don't think engage weapons are bad at all, Binding Blade and Ragnell are all really good 1-2 range weapons, Wind Sword offers flier effectiveness from a 1-2 range sword and pretty much renders enemy Tomahawk Wyverns useless. I also found Thani tome quite useful on Maddening since Maddening Generals like to have over 70 hp and even my Ivy couldn't make the one round kill threshold unless I attack her next to Alear, and Thani alleviated a lot of troubles from that end. Leif's Adaptable skill was really interesting to me since it basically allows your unit to become unbreakable during the enemy phase (more of an annoyance on the enemies on ch11) except it doesn't offer nearly as much power as Ike's enemy phase kit. Personally I don't think I'd rank any of these emblems below A, except for Leif. I’m going to make a list of any details I think deserve mentioning Sigurd: Overide is incredible on a flier using a Silver greatlance. Fliers allow you to position for overide, the greatlance one shots weaker units like sages. I ind that I use override every time with this strategy. Micaiah: Entrap does seem to work on emblems, so it should be a great way to beat Marths paralougue Leif: his skills suck but the bad boost is massive, can really help characters like rosado. Lucian: the flyer boost to bonded shield is really good for reliability, especially when combined with speed taker ivy. I’ve been using ivy like she’s Camilla as a result.. Lyn: Alacrity can be a good skill for units who are already very fast, like Chloe. It’s no speedtaker but it’s good for characters that want canto and don’t need speed + 2. Ike: Great Aeither is a little overrated, as countering on enemy phase can be better. I recommend mainly using it to fight 1-2 range enemies and for when you really need the bulk. Cotton: arguably the strongest ring in the game, dreadful aura is incredibly broken as you can freeze an entire group of enemies at once via dancing. Erika: True damage is really good when combined with brave weapons. Brave bow Erika fogado was able to one round armor knights for me, and I would highly recommend it.

I dont get the roy ring slander, at least at max rank, its really good. Free 6 strength instantly patches lower strength units, hold out is really good and just lets you live a otherwise dangerous enemy every single round if you get healed at all(through either the cheap unyeilding skill or any healer), Rise above's 5 levels and the free +1 move on a cav specifically will be buffing every single stat by at least 1, most by more than that, and binding blade gives you +5 def and res with 1-2 range and a good amount of might on top of it. Advance I also found very useful to just at least inherit on Alear early to give a potential +1 move to use anything other than a levin sword in some cases. The engage skill also is one of the few AOE ones and it comes with a free corrin fire field on top of it to make anything behind the ones you directly hit not be able to even punish you if you canter away. I see way more value in Roy's kit than something like marth, celica, or definitely leif for sure he is in no way the worst

The way I see it, is that Roy benefits one person, the character he is on and pretty much that's it outside of some blazing lion enemy movement control. Leif benefits everyone by virtue of him having most of the weapon proficiencies in the game by level 10, as well as a relatively cheap and useful SI option in Vantage. It's not that Roy's bad, it's that he's less universally useful, if that make sense?

@@LinkKing7 I can see your point in roy only being useful to himself as a flaw vs other emblems however I think having the most weapon proficiency is a small contribution since the game throws a bunch of bond fragments your way throughout the game. Plus the proficiency he gives are around the same level as other characters such as staff 6 being the same as micaiah, Lance at 7 while Sigurd is at 6, sword at 8, the same as marth(roys is 6). The best ones are axe at level 2 and bow at level 3( technically dagger to at 4 but micaiah gets it at 6 which is not that much more). As for cheap SI option I think vantage is not as good in this game due to how player focused thus game is and how in the early game being broken is something to consider though he does have access to a lance and axe for two chapters, so hey theres that. I do think that Liefs build skill is pretty useful for units who lose bld though so theres that for him. Also roys skill advance from roys kit helps backing units and tanks catch up when they normally can't, it's like a free movement option when you can't quite reach a foe and it's the same cost as vantage. Sorry for the long comment. I know I'm not the original commenter but I like to discuss on the emblem rings as it's fun.

@@LinkKing7 I kind of get that point but I guess I just value the actual performance of a ring a lot more than their inheritance/proficiencies since that's the sole reason they get equipped to someone. For leif I also don't feel the proficiencies are that helpful, especially since it can only really be that helpful on the pre- chapter 11 units, most of which either are not that good, or would rather just stay in their base unique class so the proficiencies are useless on them. If he had fists I would see value since having to wait until byleth for that is bad. The other pre-ch.11 rings give the same proficiencies he does between them so unless its like Jean who you want to change between different classes or something, you most of the time only need one proficiency to get to the class you want anyway and the difference in bond fragments used isn't that big a deal. When you get him back it isn't that useful either since most will have already changed to the class you want through inheriting ike's axe or by just getting the lance and sword from sigurd who you get at the same time, and you probably are already increasing his bond to get canter to begin with anyway. Vantage also is pretty niche, in maddening at least, given with how much damage enemies do and how unlikely it is to actually one shot something unless its something like pannete with maxed out wrath, it just feels too risky to be low health for it, and if you get the upgraded vantage for 75%, which is more workable, it costs too much to be as useful as other options that would cost that much like speedtaker

I love Eirika ring a lot! I gave her to my best girl Lapis (Hero), and she is a killing machine against those corrupted wyrms. The downside is, the Lunar Brace skill from the ring gets overwritten when Engaged with Alear, needing inheritance to make use of it.

  • @shuichichirocks33

Eirika is great for magic units with high speed bc of Bravery+ adding +10 damage if you double! Since magical units in this game seem to either be good at speed or power and not both Ephraim helps to patch up damage during doubles or help nukes kill in one turn! This is especially true if you don’t have any other good magical emblems from the DLC such as Soren or Camilla! The other magical rings are Corrin, whos good utility doesn’t lend her to attacking all of the time, Byleth, who is amazing support and Celica who falls off HARD late game (at least for me) while Eirika’s lunar brace is good I feel physical attackers have MUCH better options in reliable crit and regular forges and better base MT weapons.

I wouldn't mind a thorough guide on emblem engraving, which weapons they work best on and what classes pair well with those weapons. The DLC emblems slap heavy avoid and dodge penalties on weapons, so I'm not sure what their usage case is.

I want to defend Leif for a bit. Inheriting + to build is absolutely amazing since there is no rescuing in this game to make the aid score lower. It basically acts like speed but much much cheaper.

I'd say special note should be given to getting Canter on Alear as soon as possible over any other until thanks to their personal skill and lack of ranged Swords in the early to mid game, and lack of ranged physical swords especially (and with Dragon type class bonuses with Emblems being too good to give up). Chip, move, kill with an inspired lower damage unit is invaluably important to smoothing out difficult situations with tough enemies and grinding. All units gain the most from making Alear's movement more flexible, so chapter 4 throw Marth off of them (pretty easy to reach the first max Bond with Marth by then anyway, and Alear simply does not fair well without an Emblem).

A Covert with Corrin is just hilarious. Unless you're going against the highest hit enemies in the game you have an invincible unit that can also debuff bosses to a crazy degree.

@@SpamTown I like Corrin on covert units even if we ignore the fog. Corrin makes for a fantastic opening to a potential boss kill since she can debuff with Draconic Hex, freeze them with Dreadful Aura (covert classes do an additional -20 avo), and Torrential Roar to tank the boss's avoid even further. Corrin is probably in my top 5 for being able to really cripple bosses.

I find Leif to be good on Alcrest, nuke with a Luna buffed Longbow, and don't have to worry near as much about placement, as he will automatically switch to the lance if attacked. He also turns into a money farm with Quad hit.
