Nice to see a real honest review. I have a question: If I'm using this in a humid garage that's around 70% humidity, is it likely the unit will be constantly running because the room humidity is always so high? I guess putting some desiccant packs in there would help, but sometimes I may go a few days between prints and it sounds like this takes a lot of power to keep constantly running.

Thank you so much for the compliment and thank you for watching. It's a good question about whether or not this can hold up in a constant humid environment such as a garage. I know that when the AC was turned off in our lab over the weekend The classroom would definitely get pretty humid And there is a range of acceptable humidity so once the dryer box brings it down to let's say 30%. There is a bit of give a 15% or so in which the dryer box doesn't have to keep running. I think that wants it meets its mark it shuts off and even if the rest of the environment is pretty humid can hold it for a little while. Truth is it's a good test to perform and I think even a better test would be what the energy consumption truly is on running this dryer box. You gave me an excellent idea of basically just going through all the accessories and 3D printers and just come up with energy costs based on all the printers as well as its accessories such as a dryer box. Of course The cost depends on where you are. So I'll obviously include something like kilowatt hours but I'll definitely add it to my list of upcoming videos. Hopefully I'll be able to come back to you with better answers then such as whether this unit is truly an energy guzzler or not.

What about multiple filament types? I am really close to deciding to get one of these. It is especially cool that it will monitor RH inside the box and run as needed to maintain. But how does it work if you want to keep a couple rolls of PETG, a roll of TPU, and a roll of something else dry and ready to go?

That's actually a fantastic question and unfortunately the compartment inside the unit is all open so whatever you set for your filament setting applies to everything inside the unit. So if I apply PLA it will dry out everything in the box as if it was PLA. Obviously if you said it to TPU the temperature requirements for drying out are higher than those of PLA however I don't know what the implications would be to the PLA if you were to leave it in there under TPU drying instructions. It's obviously not optimal but I don't know if it would have problematic implications.

IMO if you put in different filament types, you will not be able to use the PRESET settings as is. Also it would be hard to use it live or inline. If it's to keep your filament dry then it will do the job no matter the filament type.

@@meyerbenr it definitely supports different filament types in terms of different profiles however it could only be one filament type at any given moment. When you look inside of the dryer box it's completely open if they were divided up into different compartments then it would be possible to dry different filaments at different profile settings. Unfortunately that's not the case here and so setting your temps for PLA for one spool will be transmitted to the other three roles.

@@CaptainCreativity thanks for the replies. I ended up getting one and I love it. It's a fantastic addition to my print shop. I mostly just use it for PLA but sometimes I dry PLA and PETG in it together. It works great. I've found that I'm only drying TPU as needed and while I'm printing with it so that's only one roll at a time which goes in my S2 dryer. Thanks again!
