Just started playing magDK. I quickly got to 100k+ dps parse but felt that I didn’t really understand the class that well, so was reluctant to use it in difficult content. Your video has really helped me feel more confident about playing magDK. Would like to see more videos like this for other classes.

Would definitely love to see similar videos for different classes and even weapon/guild skill lines! I'm already a huge fan of how you do build videos, as they tend to be less rigid than other guides, with more gear and skill varieties presented. I think covering class, weapon and guild skill lines (and perhaps even werewolf/vampire skill lines) outside of the context of a specific build video would really help people such as myself who sometimes want to deviate from the "standard", as it were, get a better understanding of what it takes to put together a good build. Videos such as this would also synergize super well with your previous videos on DPS sets for this reason, imo.

Really nice video very infomative.

Wings's most iconic use before was that it reflects projectiles and then stuns the enemies that were hit by that reflect. This used to be super useful against ranged magsorcs before throwing crystal frags. Then again, sorcs had a limitless scaling shield that lasted 20sec. They took those off sometime ago.

My guild told me you were one of the goats so I subbed

For my second active ability I use the Lava Whip morph called Flame Lash III which has all of the same stats but deals 4404 flame damage. Targeting an off balance or immobilized enemy changes this ability into Power Lash, allowing you to lash an enemy at half cost to deal 5177 flame damage and healing you for 5177 health. Though I'm not sure if it deals more damage than Molten Whip IV.

Hey skinny, Im curious how different your setup is for vet dungeon fights - is it more like the trial setup since you need to provide your own sorc/brut? Are there any other major buffs that you make sure your bring? Do you use different sets in order to reach the pen cap? Which ones? Also curious if you run anything different for RND's where all the fights are so short that you don't even have time to get through a rotation.

Yeah if you aren’t sure if you are gonna get someone providing the major buffs from igneous then it may be nice to just go ahead and slot it

Thanks! They are fairly close but yeah I think deep breath maybe be slightly better as a semi spam. Talons still better if just using as a 4s DoT

Hey, I was using your dk build on your website to get a base for what I’m doing and I had a question about your cp because it is a little confusing, I was just looking for what 4 you slot for general all around content like a solo build for example I was thinking Fighting Finesse, Deadly Aim, Master at Arms, and Thaum for the extra dot damage since I’m using Maelstrom Inferno and my own Breath, Eruption etc…

Also how you would sustain using Barbed Trap, Venomous Claw, And Whip now that it costs Stam on a magdk

i have a hard time sustaining the stamina skills such as venomous claws/barbed trap/noxious breath as a magdk... any suggestions? running the classic whorl/nirn/zaan setup + witchmother

more medium pieces can definitely help with that. but if you need to swap noxious to engulfing, that may help out. also, if you aren't using talons, that helps a ton with stam sustain since you are casting that every 4s so whip is draining less stamina

What gear is good for Magicka dk ?

i like the dk and i try a pure firedamage focused build with the dk and the flamebreath set. it kinda works but i am not still finished yet^^. I still dont know wich fits best xD

Is there any graphics mode on PC to look it like that? Mine do not look like have that good and I have a 3080 on max video setting

It's called reshade and there are tutorials on KZread about how to set it up

Ya know, DK healers exist too... Granted, our "class raw healing group abilities" are ... well, they are trash, but we bring to the group all same buffs thanks to passives and skills other DK do, plus it is easier to run Stone Giant - clunky as it is - on a healer than tank.

Can DK substitute the whip for another skill?

Before they nerfed DoT damage and increased DoT duration a pretty cool set-up was to have Elfbane on the back bar. Burning Talons hit like a truck with its duration more than doubled and other DoTs got a very nice damage boost too. Sigh... RIP Elfbane (

both are fine for 99% of the content. but you see DKs a lot more at the really high end currently. but metas change

@@iuppiterr metas are hard to pin down in eso. What’s meta now can and usually does change during patches. Just depends what buffs and nerfs the devs decide to make

So I'm guessing some stuff has changed? Flames of oblivion now gives passive while slotted on either bar and the flawless dawnbreaker does not give a passive?

Flames of oblivion and molten whip passives yes. dawnbreaker hasn’t changed. The passive referenced there is the wpn/spl dmg from the slayer passive in the fighters guild line

There isn’t specifically one that is best for stam DK. If you check my newest vid out, there is a section over mythics though and that may give you some ideas on when to use what.

Bahsei is tough on DK cause of battle roar but if you can sustain without that passive applied then you could possibly do that

You mentioned that flawless dawnbreaker gives passive damage. That was nerfed back in like 2019. You have to activate it now to get a buff for 14 seconds.

correct, though the active buff is 20s not 14s. but I was referring to the +3% weapon/spell dmg for slotting it. this will be found in your fighter's guild passives, the one called "slayer"

I main a DK and the 7 mts melee range made for a horrible transition when I started playing my alts. I was time and time again out of range.

Please forgive if dumb question - so you don't ever use the dawnbreaker ultimate? It's just slotted for its passive? Also, do you happen to have a video on how to use dawnbreaker effectively with mag DK?

Dawnbreaker will be good ultimate before PVP as it has a really nice stun attached to it. But for PVE you want the other more for the extra 300 weapon and spell damage upon cast you never really used that ultimate although if you don't have a standard up and you're getting into execute it is still strong.

It depends on the situation. Since Standard costs so much, sometimes you'll end up in a situation where you know you would not have time to get enough ultimate before the boss dies or teleports away or anything like that, so it might be worth it to cast Dawnbreaker instead.

Thanks for the replies! I've never heard people talk about using dawnbreaker but yet they still had it slotted. So it was a little confusing. I've accidentally used it at times, instead of doing standard. Doh!

@@BirdShutterbug Well the main reason to have it slotted even if you don't use it is to passively get you an extra 3% weapon and spell damage on that bar, check the fighter's guild passives.

what others have said is pretty much spot on. great for the FG passive, but also nice in a pinch if you know you won't have enough time to build up for another Standard

I stopped playing ESO. My favorite class was the Magdk, but I could not survive in veteran Vateshran. So infuriating! I don't want to play other classes to beat Vateshran. I want to play my Magdk.

20:35 great reminder that some of the base game class passives are super outdated. Actually just lazy to begin with. The game design has always been that you have enough skill points accessible to take every class passive, so why not just make the skills last longer and add a more interesting passive? Sadly, I don't have any hope in zos to do anything about it now.

Been trying mag dk for over 3 months and I'm not finding the class fun or enjoyable, the skills just feel off, and just using the whip over and over is kinda eh..... idk. It's just the rotations for me, I've been a magsorc main for hears now and I want to enjoy the mag sort but I'm afraid 20k dps with BIS gear lmfao!

@@skinnycheeks so one build that's different doesn't make me wrong but if this build is as powerful as you say this will be the norm and every DK will be the same. Having a unique setup is a frowned upon concept in this game which is funny for a game sold around the idea of making whatever character you want. It's like oh you wanna make a big Nord warrior. Well you have to use all these skills that don't fit with what you want or sell you won't be viable. Can't even be a straight melee build it's embarrassing.

​@@CaptainSkylocke So to add on about the concept of having unique set-up is something most mmo rpg games tend to cast aside. It's really bad on the Destiny 2 too, but even WoW as well as Ff14 can have the same situation as you are describing. Honestly it comes down in how much sn individual really knows what they want to do on ESO after they get some great understanding to actually play with more than one setup, and just enjoy the game in general. To each their own, and maybe have more options be more viable would be great, but when it comes to live action games it really is gamble on how much s player is willing to take before moving on.
