The BEST DIY Forge On The Market

The Apollo forge is going to be a huge upgrade to my shop! I met Brian House at the Maker Camp in upstate NY this past October and got to see the Apollo forge in action. After that I knew I had to have one! Such a well made kit that really anyone could assembly and get running. Learn more about it below, and see links to some of the tools I used in this video. One thought about your modification of the sliding door vs the hinged doors on gas-fired industrial-type furnaces. The sliding door was also designed to easily swing up and let the pressure wave pass and then reclose minimizing the amount of flame and debris in case of an accidental explosion within the combustion chamber and minimizing damage to people and equipment. Keep this in mind in your design.

All of Brian's kits and accessories are incredibly well designed. I love my Revolution 2X72 grinder built from his kit!

Thanks for sharing Chris! Brian has done a great job with the Apollo forge! While its a bit pricey, its a "buy once, cry once" setup. You hit on this, but just to emphasize, the efficiency of the ribbon burner compared to the normal venturi burners that come with other propane forges is night and day. If running the forge daily, the savings from less propane usage definitely offsets the initial purchase cost. Looking forward to seeing what you make using it!

This is on my wish list. My only concern is about how quickly it will drain my EcoFlow Delta as that’s the only power in my smithy.

It’s a great unit and I don’t think the blower uses too much power, if you were worried you could buy just the blower and plug it into your ecoflow to see how long it’ll run.

I think you would have been better served to put the hinges on the closed side, and left the slider. You could close the door almost all the way, as when you heated that long 1 " bar? No?
