I sold Chrysler's at McPeek Chrysler from 84- 89 and these were by far the best cars on the sales floor. In 87 they came out with the TSI intercooler with ground effects, suspension/wheel upgrades and more. The engine was the hemi 2.8 liter Mitsubishi (basically like the 70's Dodge Challenger made by Mitsu) The price was at 20k. Nice 5 sp. RWD. The somehow caught a hard-angle -924to928-jap-appearance. Around 1996 l was selling Chevys and a dude traded a beautiful white onevin for a vet. He had put some mods and spent over 20k on the car and they allowed $500as a trade. He didn't care as he was getting a Z06 for 50k. I bought the Conquest out of the deal. I wish l still had it. But, after 3 years l sold it for 5k. Fun car.

@@scottkeeler2306 It's only got a 2555cc hemi known as the g54b. they were used in pickups, minivans, forklifts, except this is the only time they were fuel injected and boosted.. If it wasn't for the poor cylinder head design it'd be a little more competitive. unfortunate you sold yours. I'm just hoping a few years down the line I can get mine running, because I miss it. I could own more modern cars, but these things always have something special that makes them stand out. Probably nostalgia and how it feels like being in a time capsule

I'm wondering how many of those had be chosen to be built in the first place. You build it up to a point where it's a representation of a car. It's a full build in the owners eyes of what could've been. I love it.

I said it before on his first time at the garage, and I'll say it again now, this is probably my favorite build you've had on the show. A lot of people make their own stuff, but this guy has literally built everything that he wasn't legally obligated to have made from someone else. With John under the car, you could see him looking around "Hmm, what else can I change/upgrade under here." 14:50 15:06
This guy's Conquest is the entire inspiration behind my Mk2 Golf. If was just meant to be a fun road car, then I seen how he made his interior so simple and beautiful and I made my own Aluminium dash shaped and modelled almost exactly like his. He should be the poster boy for home builds.
This guy is the epitome of "Built, not bought"! Well done!
"Why buy somethin for 10$ when you can build it for 400". Best line in the video.
One of the best build bios ever, loved this video, it's just completely different when you have a car made 100% by the owner, they just know every little detail of how it drives and how it's built, it's amazing.
I shudder to think "how much" I have in ANY project, when you look at your own time @ $100/hr. Important calculation to keep track of, doe... Awesome build. Thanks for the full details. Seriously impressive home-grown engineering that works.
John's car is a work of art. I have been following his build since around 2010. This car will always be a monument to the heritage of DIY built racecars.

My sister came home year’s back with. 1988 Chrysler Conquest TSI red with black interior. I was about 9 and that was the start of my love for cars, she had mustangs and everything else but conquest was killer. Loved them ever since and Porsche 944s. My dad passed when I was young so lucky to have a cool older sister who was into cars.
Literally the best car on hoonigans hands down 🇵🇷
"Why buy something for 10$ when you can build it for 400$?" Brilliant, just brilliant, my significant other will surely understand me now.
You out so much time, effort, and creativity into this project and it turned out absolutely amazing.
Wow... this is absolutely amazing! congrats on the long-term ownership and build. You sir, are the man!! 👍
This is legit what i as a young car nerd wishes to be. Building a monster from the ground up in my own kitchen ... hoonigans came through with mans
The passion of this owner for his car is what keeps us all striving for more. Truly inspiring and the list truly never ends.
Really loved this car when you guys first had it I'm glad you brought it back with more details. Hes put so much into that car it's cool seeing more of it. Still feel like build bios could be even longer lol don't hold back!! We want to see it all!
One of my favorite cars to visit Hoonigan. Sick look and a wealth of fabrication/knowledge
This is still one of my top 5 favorite vehicles ever. I will never forget this thing, the first time i saw it was on his one take. Its perfect. I love it. And the guy who made it is awesome. I think similar ways so this is GOLD for my OCD, to hear his thoughts behind it all lol
This is still one of my favourite builds i've seen on DT. Love it even more now
those blinkers are still my favorite thing in the world, i remember seeing this car at SEMA 2017 and nerding out on the whole car, then you guys posted his feature like 2 months after the event and i was stoked! lol
The absolute BADDEST STARION/ CONQUEST IN THE LAND! John has an unrelentless commitment to hand building everything on this car. The best part is that it actually sees action at the track. I was at his last track event, people can't believe he drove it there!😆
much more interesting than a million $$ car driven off a lot.
When you literally put heart and soul into a car that you love. What could be better. I’ve seen this car so many time with different setups and each time is gets better. 🔥
So glad to see this car back on the channel. This is one of my favorite cars from when I was a kid.
Definitely one I've been waiting for an update/more info on. Love the home engineering
Glad you came back to do a build bio on this car John! I have loved this thing ever since i was on SQC and you started building it many years ago. And true about finding parts. When stuff goes wrong on these cars you better have a stock pile of spares. Not so much the motor but all the stupid little things(that you don't have anymore) like vac solenoids.
This is definitely one of my top 10 favorite builds, just the fact that he pretty much made everything on it gives me mad respect for him
love the craftsmanship, so genuine
I've been waiting for this weapon to come in for a Build Bio!!
Wow, the passion this fella put into his build...beautiful work!
Other than Ol Smokey this is probably my favorite car I've seen on here. Probably because if I were to dive into building cars, this is exactly how I'd be. Always tweaking, always changing, always making it better.
Just watched this DT last night. Awesome timing!!! Awesome car, and awesome video!!!!
This is still one of my favourite builds! I love the fenders on this car so much
By far the grestest Conquest/ Starion every built! John only sets the bar higher every year with his highschool dream car. I know John personally and is just as humble in person. Keep up do you John. And Hoonigan keep bringing John's Conqueat back!!!!

This car is, my favorite car you guys have ever featured, and I'm fucking psyched that you brought it back again.
deja vu. I rewatched the original video last night and now it's shown up again.
Not sure who's been the editor of the videos lately but perhaps consider relaxing on the timing and the amount of cuts. Give the viewer a little time to be able to process the sentences and the information within them.

Hey John... been a while. Good times in Pigeon Forge, running the back roads(what did we call it near Gatlinburg where coke lost it that one year) following you in my red shp 89' eating your dust and gravel. (Still have it, and my blk 89', my 1st of 27 yrs now) You look good, and the car always does, always has! Congrats on all your successes. Keep enjoying it. J
Leah's face of Awe, when Zach takes over = Priceless!
The money race teams put into a program to come up with what this man has done in his home garage. The thought and forward thinking on this car still amazes me to this day. It’s a toss up between this and Old Smokey on my favorite build to have come come through
Congratulations on the build,very beautiful
This has to be hands down without a doubt my favorite car featured on this channel. My first car ever was an 89 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe but I only had it a few months and my second car and favorite car ever was a 1989 Chrysler Conquest, silver in color. The bottom half of the motor was built by a man who worked on NASCAR here locally. and I got my third speeding ticket doing 155 in a 45 in a 4-cylinder turbo rear wheel drive 89 Conquest in 1996.... long story.... lmao! It a good one though.
John is such a down to earth guy , always great to see another feature on his ever evolving Conquest .
Such a beautiful work of art👌
I remember see this car back in the day in super street. Awesome to see it has the same owner and its continually evolving.
I'm glad this guy loves to talk about his build freely because this guy barely asked any questions
This is my favorite build bio. Hands down. John is an evil genius.
thats the REAL racer, and a REAL car guy. built from scratch on his own. its amazing! if he were smart he would figure out how to mass produce all the parts on that car and get rich building it. its crazy how many of these cars are still on the road and being sold/purchased. ive always liked these cars, and would love to build one someday...when all my other projects get done....
