Scagg or ferris would be my choice

I mow my property with a 400D grasshopper 72 inch I previously had a grasshopper 428D given to me by my dad it’s a 2001 model and still runs and mows prefect has almost 11000 hours on it

Cub Cadet zero turn. I bought the domestic version with a steering wheel last October from a great local company, in North Devon, sadly no more, you may have heard of them. Excellent mower, tough, stable on slopes, cuts long grass, really good finish on short grass. Change over from Side discharge to mulch takes moments.

Dixie shopper - Gravely - Bad boy - Scag

They all performed pretty well. The most impressive mower I've used was a Bobcat bank mower. It was an 80's machine, with a 72inch deck, with independent steering and was walk behind, extremely heavy, but easy to use. It absolutely destroyed everything in front of it! Great machine!!

Very good comparison guys, I actually have the Ariens Apex and have enjoyed it the past 2 seasons. When I decided to purchase it there was a toss-up between it and the Hustler, both performed well. I have a Dixie Chopper zero turn in my shop for a belt replace. It's advertised as the worlds fastest ZT..... they aren't kidding, its very fast.

The Ariens is a great mower and very well made. I’ve never used a Dixie Chopper but hopefully will soon, but it will be in a different colour 😉

The rear discharge deck was proven in the grasses of the UK when it was developed. If it works there, it must work everywhere.

Great video. There is all good kit tbf at the caravan park where I work We use a toro groundsmaster it's good but can get tight between the caravans the tighter ones we use our john deere x750

I have a pro Z100 Cub Cadet I only had engine issues and drive belt issues due to oil leaks but the caster wheel on the front left is wore out because the grease fitting popped off but before i had it the mower needed deck work it has well over 800 hours.

Hi James + Josh, on this weeks addition of Top Mower, James drives a mower and Josh drives another mower. To be honest I would not be disappointed with any of them, but I like the Toro and Kubota. Looks like you both done good work with these mowers and most of all you have fun doing it, have a good one, Take care

That grasshopper looks like it is from the 60s. My Toro Titan didn’t cut low enough (32mm was the lowest, I think), so something to bear in mind when shopping.

The 60s were groovy, man. Demo the Grasshopper with that rear discharge deck and you'll yearn for the good ole days.

I love a zero turn. Miss my turf tiger with a boat engine in it. Definitely missing a few big brands scag/Ferris/bobcat/ club cadet but the one i would of liked to have seen the most is the cramer 82zt132 up against its petrol borthers. Also didnt expect the Kubota to have a Kawasaki engine in it. Cracking video lads 👌

Bobcat is impressive ! Very easy access to work on !

I've been looking at zero turns and having rear discharge seems like a very overlooked feature depending on what kind of work you do. As you showed going around beds and stuff like that you won't blow a bunch of clippings into them or have to go round the lawn a particular way and it leaves the best finish.

No Scag? I'm struggling to decide on your question. For me personally I'd be really tempted by that Grasshopper for jobs where a smaller machine is required (which is often a lot) but for big industrial jobs I think I'd go for the Hustler. If a certain ex colleague were here he would be laughing and calling me, "Fan boy" again as I learned zero turn on a Hustler and I've liked them ever since, though that Toro is... Ugh, I can't make my mind up, if money were no obstacle..

I use exmark/toro cant beat the warranty you get what you pay for. Always wanted to try out grasshopper they just look like a solid mower that stuck with what worked kinda like the brown.

I agree with what Josh said they are all great machines, but if i was a contractor i would go for the toro and fit a electric flap 👍

I have an ariens ikon and I've had nothing but trouble with it since I had it.

Yakta. New to the marker. Have a lot of unique offerings.

SCAG and Cub Cadet missing, other than that for the UK market at least you have the best of the bunch outside of battery versions like Mean Green. I'd probably go for the Kubota and with the money saved opt into a 3-5 year service plan and lots of spare blades :D

grasshopper introduced the zero-turn front mount in the 1960's they did not add the mid-mount until much later. other companies introduced the mid-mount and did not make front mounts. the exception is John Deere commercial mowers.

Everyone is complaining about what brand is not included when speaking of the best, but remember, they invited 10 companies and only 5 showed up. Im sure one of those 5 no shows were your self proclaimed "best" mower😂😂

To be honest if I was looking at spending the amount the Toro costs , I'd more likely buy a new BX series Kubota with a 60" mid mount deck and 3 cylinder diesel.

Instead of Speed measuring the area covered in a given time might be more useful. That would tell you how much time you need to cover a acre for example since it takes into account the width of the machine, I.e. how many rows you have to drive for a given area.

Wright manufacturing makes the best commercial mowers hands down and customer service second to none. The Arens and the Kubota are not what I would consider commercial duty mowers .
