I'm always so drawn to Byredo and am going to have to get a sample set one of these days. The whole concept and minimalist Scandinavian aesthetic are right up my alley, and I've liked the few scents that I've tested so far. You're right - Byredo fragrances don't necessary wow you at first, but there's just something a bit unusual and intriguing about them that stays with you.

Yes! The ones I love haven’t been immediate “loves at first sniff” for me, but then I feel a need to go back to them and then I fall in love 🥰 and I adore the chic packaging!

I am so glad i found you. Your videos are so fun to watch. So I really want to get my hands on bal D'Afrique. I hope am not disappointed, sounds like my vibe. The hype can throw one off. I felt the same way when i got eau duelle and orchidee vanille. As a gourmond and vanilla lover, guess i was expecting to be blown outta this world but sadly didn't happen. I love them both though, immensely 🥰🥰 😅😅😅😅

I just found a 1.7 sueded Oud at tj maxx for $35! I remembered your videos from last year about it and snatched it up as a blind buy! I love it.

Arizona bloom is great stuff. Reminds me of being on a salty, breezy coconut island but it’s realistic and you’re among the coconut trees and smelling them

Loved your recommendations! I adore Another 13 and just discovered that Glossier You has the same DNA and vibe but much softer and less powerful , which I prefer for some occasions like the office

I am on that journey with Bal D’afrique!! 😂 I am 90% there to getting a full bottle. I’m currently testing a partial and to me, this is a vetiver herbal green scent. Everyone mentions the citrus but that comes across very light to me for some reason. Guess it’s true that everyone’s nose is so different!

I love this list! Have you tried Jo Malone vanilla and anise? It's so pretty, not a sweet vanilla but light and fresh. The anise makes it so bright with that lil hint on spice. It's my current go to- work/office appropriate scent

Another lover of Clean Skin Reserve here. 😊 it's my signature work scent. I'm an ER nurse. I can get away with this in my fragrance free workplace but still get whiffs of it from myself all day. And whenever someone enters my personal bubble, e.g. A hug, I get compliments on how good I smell. Otherwise, it's completely inoffensive yet enjoyable. P.S. Great list. I loved most of these. The ones I didn't love, I just haven't tried yet. But I will!!!

I love Another 13 is so versatile! It's so effortlessly sexy and clean. I even use it as a bed time fragrance! It may not be my top 1 signature scent but it's definitely in my top 10!

I just discovered Ulrich Lange's Lethe!! This perfume is such a nice your-skin-but-better scent. It's warm and cozy yet understated. It's got a soft muskiness, so it feels unisex to me. (Bergamot, lavender, vanilla, tonka, and water lily)This one is a such a sleeper hit!

Clean reserve rain is beautiful as is Banana Republic’s Neroli Woods and Vintage Green. Fresh crisp interesting fragrances.

I’ve never liked Bal D Afrique even though I am a pure citrus lover!! That marigold note just ruins it for me. Trying my hand at Gypsy Water & seeing if I’ll want to purchase a bottle… Love your content. 💛

By the way, during the Fall/Winter season I use Gipsy Water and when the weather gets warmer I fall in love with UN JARDIN APRES LA MOUSSON (Hermes) and PHILOSYKOS by Dyptique. Have you ever tried those?

I've only tested a few of these, but I pretty much agree they're all fresh and interesting. For the future, could you consider doing a video on fresh and interesting fragrances for fall/winter?

PS= Clean fresh out of the shower smell I forgot to include in my last comment: Jacinthe et Rose by E Coudray. I dislike everything in the range but this one fragrance. A really gentle watery fresh rose-peony type of vibe...I forget the note list but it's that sort of lotus, watery hyacinth, gentle 'shower gel' uplift without being remotely tart or citrusy.If someone is after a little more 'lychee jelly dessert mixed with gorgeous citrus that is NOT reminiscent of cleaning products', then Cio Cio San by MDCI is a great place to start. It's a really unusual, CLEAN fresh fragrance, very chic and pretty. Fantastic on a hot day too.

Another 13 is ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL!!

soooo many of my favorites in here and all time loves. like byredos gypsy water is my all year round signature go to and now i use it interchangibly with bal d'afrique, like damn byredo really has me in a chokehol since 2020... i hate that they don't last long on me, with bal definitely being longer lasting than the other. i gotta admit tho, my take on bal dafrique is sooo much different than yours. to me its definitely not as heavily citrusy. to me its its the not too sweet soft flowers, grounded by the vetiver with perfectly blended in citrusy factor. like out of the two its the gypsy water that i get more prominent citrus from but i love both so so much. couple of years ago i tried wood sage and sea salt, and i had like 3 different re-attempts, but sadly not only it disappears almost twice as fast as gypsy water from both my skin and clothes but also after an hour the drydown is just weirdly soapy seaweed that makes me nauseous LOL oh also my favorite aqua allegoria is mandarine basilic

I have been wearing Le Labo’s “Another 13” for the last few years and absolutely love the fragrance!!!! I highly recommend “Another 13” and you won’t smell like everyone else!!!

Hey what about best fresh and clean but in the winter and for men? Got me intrigued by clean reserve!

since i started watching you less than a month ago ive bought clean reserve skin, and the 7 virtues santal vanille and blackberry lily. Ok no more perfume for awhile lol. im just a regular gal with an office job. I can only wear so much perfume. It is really fun to smell nice though. And i like going to bed smelling nice too so theres that. And my kids actually love when i smell good. Ah what the heck. Bring on the the good smells.

I’m really confused because everyone I’ve talked to raves about Another 13, but to me, it smelled like what I can only describe as moldy newspaper. I don’t know if I got a bad batch or what, but it smelled weird to me. I’ll definitely check out the ones you mentioned that I haven’t smelled yet, since I absolutely love clean/fresh fragrances.

I own half of these and would now like to buy the other half 😍

I got Arizona bloom in my scentbird once and I liked it but it smelled more like something I’d want my house to smell like. My husband loved it on me though said it was creamy and fresh at the same time.

I literally made the same face at the same time you were talking about wood sage and Seasalt being unisex 😆

byredo's gypsy water is an amazing scent that has one of the worst performances of any fragrance i own. You are lucky that your batch performs. It's my happy scent. Incredible description on Bal

Most of these sounds amazing, I will try any besides the ones described as unisex, I am not the pretty and petit woman so I always wear more feminine clothes, girly perfume and makeup. I hated than when I was 13 with short hair and baggy clothes people have me confused with a boy.

Some other great clean budget scents are Jovan White Musk, Skin Musk, The Body Shop White Musk and surprisingly, Avon Odyssey is soooooooooo underrated.

I am so picky with perfume scents. I hate rose and I hate brown sugar scents, but I also don’t like straight laundry scents. I love a good tonka bean and amber base note. I also love pear, melon, creme, freesia, gardenia( white florals), mandarin/ orange blossoms…. I love fresh sweet scents. I love pear & freesia from Jo Malone and fairytale from bath and body works what other scent do you recommend? I don’t like super musky scent either

My absolute favorite fresh perfume is Clementine California by Atelier Cologne. I have to overspray like crazy to get it to last, which is a huge bummer, but it’s so so good. I also like Pacific Rock Moss and I actually feel like it leans feminine on me with some sweetness. I also recently fell in like with Cedar Violet by Aerin. I’m still testing it and can’t decide if it’s too mature for me but there’s something about it that keeps drawing me back in.

Hey! Hope ur fine! I recently bought a decant of another 13 ! I get nose blind quickly like after 5 mins! The smell is great but i cant smell it! Is there any solution please

I have such a difficult time with fragrance because so much of it just makes me sick. The best I have found for fresh clean perfume is my absolute favorite pure grace from philosophy, then Hermes un jardin sue le nildolce and Gabbana light blue is good too. Despite those three I have yet to find some thing that does not gag me or give me a headache

Try taking epsom salt baths regularly and see if it changes your chemical sensitivity. I actually use the epsom concentrate lotion daily and I'm now able to use all kinds of fragrances . Even one that I was just about to throw away. Still can't do perfumes that are super sweet or smell like chocolate. A lot of the fragrances are very estrogenic and hard for the liver to process. The sulfate in natural epsom salts is one of the ways your liver detoxifies estrogens and other chemicals. I still mainly spray them on when I'm fully dressed just in case it becomes to much for my body to handle directly all over the skin

I know what you mean. Many of the fragrances that smell of fabric conditioner and are suggested as easy, everyday 'clean smelling' fragrances contain a tonne of synthetic musks and other ingredients which induce the most epic nausea-headaches in me too. I've love to be able to wear them but it's a mistake every time as they just make me feel sick.

I suggest you try a sample of Byredo Blanche. I have a fragrance allergy (direct skin contact) so I’ve avoided fragrance-laced anything most of my life. I’m trying to give it chance now (albeit sprayed through clothing) and the first one that I found clean and fresh without being offensive is Blanche. It was my gateway to Byredo, which led me to trying Gypsy Water and Bal D’afrique that were mentioned in this video. Still, I often go back to Blanche and would recommend it to anyone who aren’t into strong scents.

@@elleporidae This is a really thoughtful recommendation. Blanche is HUGE is Korea and Japan, where more gentle fragrances are popular. The cultures tend to avoid strong fragrances worn on the person or in communal spaces so when someone is sensitive to fragrance in general, I'd recommend they research what's going on in Korea and Japan. Parfum Satori and Di Ser have many great fragrances that are clean and gentle and don't have explosive, obnoxious sillage. Many fragrances in the West that are all about 'clean linen' or involve the word 'musk' could rightly be seen as olfactory fire alarms: synthetic musks are TERRIBLE for triggering migraines and nausea-headaches.

@@ciganyweaverandherperiwink6293 Funny enough, that’s actually one of the reasons why I got to know Byredo Blanche. I see it so often used by Korean actresses and they always describe it as light and clean, like a crisp white shirt. I definitely agree. I live in a county in Southeast Asia that also aligns similarly with East Asian countries like South Korea and Japan wherein strong fragrances are considered off-putting and even rude. It’s better to use a cheap but light cologne or not have a fragrance at all than a strong one. I’ll definitely look into Parfum Satori and Di Ser. This is the first time I’ve heard of those brands and hopefully I can get a sample where I’m from. Thank you for those recommendations! I definitely agree with your description of most fragrances in the West. Unfortunately, they are all too common as most are produced by large fashion/luxury houses. They are… overwhelming. I’m glad that there are niche brands that have a more “minimalist” approach to scents and cater to those with fragrance sensitivities or even lighter preferences. They are quite challenging to find but I’d rather get a headache over that than a fragrance-induced one lol

You left Reveur Obsidian off of the list. Please try if you haven't. One of the best clean soapy scents Ive bought. Im not much into soapy clean fragrances, but this one has me sniffing myself all day. I love it on a woman also. Just when you think 7 hrs later the fragrance is gone, you get hit with more whiffs of it on you. Its clean luxury soap with a little more to it.

I’m sure I’d love Coconut Fizz. Why do they discontinue good stuff? Guerlain is insane! Discontinuing all sorts of great stuff! I need to check out Clean Reserve for sure. I checked out 7 Virtues (Vanilla Woods and Santal Vanille) bc of you. Love both. I will check out Byredo someday… they seem to have a lot that sparks my interest. My favorite clean frag is Narciso (white cube). It’s so woody on me with light fluffy sweet something dancing around. I really love it.

Seriously!! Coconut Fizz AND Gourmand Coquin?! Yayy!! I'm so glad you've had luck with The 7 Virtues, I'm so looking forward to the releases they come up with in the future 😍 I heard Narciso by Narciso is getting discontinued 🤦🏼‍♀️ If you didn't know already, I'd get a back up if you want one!

How long does Jo Malone Wood and Sea Salt, Byredo Bal D’Afrique and Another 13 last for?

You should discuss performance in your reviews. It's possible to dislike Gypsy Water because it performs almost exactly zero for $$$. Can get a clone that performs far better for 90% cheaper.
