Hopefully you were wrong about a nerf coming. Arcanist is comfortably performing in group pve with a higher than average skill floor and a low enough ceiling that it's pretty under-represented in trial damage leader boards. It's massively *under* performing in pvp, with glitchy skills and little killing potential. The one place it shines is in solo arenas which is what? two places in the whole game? That's hardly worth a nerf.

Thanks so much for putting this all together Deltia! Really appreciate getting your insights. I'd love to see a PVE StamArc "how to play / deep dive" video - hopefully before the nerf! 😅

the only thing they don't nerf is the fucking insane ping that makes Cyrodiil unplayable.

I think solo play is made more difficult for most people because they are too focused on optimal damage. This approach is fine in a well organized group, because in a group, if you are a damage dealer, your only purpose is to deal damage, but as a solo player you need to be well rounded and your primary focus has to be survivability, because no-one is going to be getting you up when you die. If a class is lacking in sustain or passive healing, you can build to account for that, there are plenty of sources for both for any class. Sustain can be improved through race, skills like circle of protection, jewellery enchantments, food/drink, etc., Passive healing is available from ring of the pale order, reaving blows in the champion points, health absorption enchantment on weapons. Most of these things only sacrifice 2-3% damage, which seems a small price to pay, given that your DPS is zero when you are dead.

It does seem that non-trivial group play, requires solo skills in the fact you need to move constantly and be aware of mechanics...a vast majority of group play can be soloed and doesn't require a specific build to complete...The misconception about challenging group play is that it is a tank and spank and players just need high dps, that sort of content doesn't require specific builds unless there is a damage timer, which is rare. The damage dummy game is fun but it gives the wrong impression about the actual content.

stamina archanist is cool lore wise as well because heameus mora has always had a poison theme which fits the class pretty cool

One of my all time favorite moments in eso is when I ended up fighting deltia in his last dk build video. Keep up the amazing videos!

I'm sad to see DK so low on the list haha, I've personally used my main which is a DK for solo content for a really long time I still do but have started to use mag sorc for solo arenas ^^

I've been playing a slightly hybridized Stamsorc, only have Prior Therric, Hundings Rage and Mothers Sorrow on it ATM. 16 attribute points into mag, the rest into Stam, 2h front, lightning staff back. 2h bar has bound armaments, haunting curse, hurricane, reverse slash and silver shards to spam and for an Ult it has flawless dawnbreaker. Back bar is barbed trap, dark deal, crit surge, razor caltrops and unstable wall of elements and greater storm atro for an ult. Works great. Needs better gear though.

There is an aoe spammable for magsorc. Shock clench. Also can use Destructive Impact lightning staff to reduce its cost and give you a good amount of spell damage.

Any time anyone asks me for a robust always-good solo Class I always recommend MagPlar. You have so much healing coming in it's not even funny. Stack crit and you're basically immortal.

Would a healing companion be the best option for solo content? I feel like a lot of these just suffer from healing, seems to be a good way to shore that up, or would it be better to just add more dps with a companion?

Use ghostly embrace with graveyard I used it when the class first come out. Ghostly embrace is pretty much the same as the dk talon skill & if you want can also use wall of elements also & if you use a gear set where it pulls the ads in its crazy

Man Deltia, been watching you for almost a decade it seems like. I played the beta on pc back in 2014. Now I am back and playing on my new Asus ROG Ally. I’ve got over 2200 combined CP between PlayStation and Xbox, but I’m starting fresh on PC. I am gonna make one toon as I don’t have as much time to grind anymore with 2 kids. Pick my class for me!! I mained MagDK for a long time. I will eventually play mostly PvP.

Sorc is the way. The most fun class in PvP and easy but satisfying in PvE

Haven't played much this past year but willing to give Arcanist a try. I've been on PC for years but yesterday I downloaded ESO on Xbox, thinking I'm gonna start from scratch. Holy geez man, this is gonna suck! p.s. good to see you back making good content for ESO ( I know you had a big break). Your old school DK builds helped me get going back in the day.

I've just done the exact opposite. Played xbox eso since launch got to nearly 2000cp now gone to PC.. absolutely nothing in my bank or collections 😢 but its still fun

I agree with what you said but things change ... sometime drastically ... if you move to solo one bar PVE builds. For instance, the MagCro build may not be the best solo build as you pointed out, but when you turn it into a One-bar Oakensoul HA build, the burst damage from Stalking Blastbones is a game changer and it won't be on C+ tier. I guess Solo One-Bar builds are a completely different beast than Two-bar Solo PVE builds but both are Solo PVE Builds.

What race should i go with for stam arconist group pve?

One of the big reasons I prefer stam to mag arcanist is that the arcanist has the light armor pen passive in the Herald of the tome tree. As stam this is amazing but as mag it can result in over pen.

The Starcanist is born. I love this class, my new alt has taken over almost all of my play time.

Nightblade was my main, but I have changed to Stamina Arcanist.

Rather than nerfing arcanist, I hope they buff all other classes to match it. But who am I kidding, ZoS only truly knows the nerf hammer.

Best classes for me in Arenas always MagSorc, but my main is StamDK with 400 skill points and every single ability maxed lol

Is all the buff timers an addon? I've recently added ability timers from the settings but don't see all the buffs/debuffs above the bars like that.

I wish they would fully hybridize the older classes by making skills operate like the Arc class by making the skills cost whichever stat pool is highest! That would further help incentivize players to use a variety of skills that would enable better utilization of the best every class kit offers.

I use the magica arcanist with dual daggers on front bar flame staff second bar but i tend to stick to using my daggers for the critical bonus. But I'm still newish to the game and bought the dlc to try the class and been loving it myself. I'd give it a solid A tier.

I found a class that’s very effective for sustain and damage (necromancer duel wield lifesteal) its really cool

How the crap can you do a boss foght in a vet arena in 30 seconds. Last time i tried it it took me 5ish minutes

Really hope they don't nerf Arcanist. Yeah, it has OP damage, but the channeling is brutal, and it seems like every single monster in the game has an interrupt. A 13k shield is nice, but most things are going to one shot that shield and interrupt you. If they want to nerf it though, they should really only hit the costs. Maybe increase the cost of the Flail to match the Magicka versions cost, or removing the 100% bonus damage. They could also make more things cost Crux, or less things generate Crux, to force people to use more resources to constantly build up the effects.

they need to give runeblades something more to make it worth using. So disappointing that such a cool spammable is overshadowed by tentacle. Also, I really struggle getting damage out of mag builds in comparison in stam. You say that magsorc is superior to stamsorc but in my experience, stamsorc (or rather, hybrid sorc) is vastly superior. More damage, big 2h shields, superior passives on medium armor, can still use destro back bar for ele sus and wall. Still able to use frags and curse.

The Stamcanist single-handedly is the reason I'm hooked up on the game more than ever before. I hope that ZOS won't nerf it down the line just because it's good, but maybe uses this good design to instead make other classes stronger.

I don't think they will nerf the arcanist if they do it would be a small one. The biggest reason is that you have to channel your biggest dmg and during that you can't do anything else no synergy or roll dodge/block or it will cancel it. My buddy hit around 125k dps and for endgame it looks imo balanced

disagree on stam warden, i have every class leveled and this class is the one i kill the fastest with and most survivability. bosmer so that takes care of sustain and i can use tri food

Stamina Nightblade does one thing better than any class: Bow/Bow "sniper" builds. Obviously that's not the focus of this video, but it seemed worth mentioning because in most cases, that's _why_ players who love Stamblade tend to be so devoted to it. It isn't just the "best" sniper; it's the best sniper, many-times-over! Add Vamp and a RotWH, and the Bow/Bow build can outrun many _mounted_ players, no matter which bar you're on. It's so fast that _cliffs and ledges_ become the real enemy! xD

Lol why do you have channeled and trap? They do the same thing use one or the other, not both

Sustain is horrible on mag dk, luckily I can afford to chug heroism pots, because solo I have to depend on my ultimate for sustain, which is a terrible position to be in.

interesting rankings... i'd nearly agree with all your rankings, except for the dk's,, yes i main stam dk, so there is some bias, but i don't think they are not as bad for solo pve.. why? i use bloodthristy and 2 infused reduce skill cost.. my dps does not suffer and my sustain is surprisingly well and nver seem to run out often.. and i use this setup not just for my dk's, but also for my stamden/stamcro/stamsorc/stamcanist/magcro/magden/magcanist.. i'd probably put both nb slightly down, coz i think both are not noob friendly... you need the right rotation in order to maximize their dps.. otherwise i agree they should be solid once the rotations are set.. overall i think the magcro is the hardest coz of stamina needs for dodging/running..

You know they will nerf it like necro and warden they always nerf them after they make the money from owning it.

Thats how it works. They let it run ramped for 2 monthes then when they get their money and all the people pay to win then they nerf it

One thing about Arcanist, it has the most insane AoE ever put in the game just baseline AND you even have rune of displacement so that in case anything would have survived the beam due to spread and doesn't have CC immunity, it now can't survive the beam. I also wanna say it is the easiest class to play by a lot imo (PvE but honestly also not too complex in Pvp, if nonbeam), because of the minimized LA, but quite enjoyable for periods! With the disclaimer as you say that you need to have basic aiming practice first.

Disagree about magicka arcanist. Magicka arcanist is better than magsorc if you're doing trifecta in vVH. Since hybridisation changes, you can wear medium armor on mag, so it doesn't really depend on spec. Lightning staff makes arena easier , because it has range, daggers don't. So, if you playing with lughtning staff and mostly class skills, mag might be better. + you'll have to have shield, shield costs magicka, so you can cast it many times, it increases your survivability significantly. And you can slot portal, which will allow you to skip one shot mechanics. Might not be the best choice for score pushing, since you don't skip it by dpsing + many players play arcanist and it's op, so it makes harder to be on leaderboards than on other classes. But still, skipping mechanics is crucial if you want to get spirit slayer title or undying song.

Arcanist might be the number one but sorc still the easiest to play and for many people probably the number one just because of that thanks for this videos I love the content

Why run the mag arcanist with light armor. I run 6 medium with one light. I use food to add mag and stam regen. I rarely ever have any kind of resource sustain issues (when I do it is my own fault). Run the right gear and it is easier to play than the stam version (since everything basically draws on stam there are bigger resource issues).

What's even the point of mag if everything scales to your highest resource? A bigger stamina pool is more useful than mag and you don't need any mag/stam sustain food. Your 2 longest dots cost mag aswell as the destro staffa abilites you backbar. You'll have plenty of stam with that many mag abilities on your bar and something like coral riptide is easier to maintain with higher stamina.

Bruh u had me laughing at the arcanist its the holy grail of builds I died laughing I hoping I would days it’s trash lmao I play as dwarven Architon Lord he’s an arcanist I watched your one bar build version of arcanist my only gripe with eso is I wish the would allow me to play as a Templar so I can use vampires bane with consuming souls and silver shards I would get rid of biting jabs in place of fate carver and the shield bash for the three Doritos skill that shoots at ppl then have Dawn blade as a ultimate boy so much fun I hate we can’t mix class abilities when elder scrolls is known for letting u learn any magic skill u wanted

I probably would have put Stamsorc dead last with DK above that, tbh.

In my opinion, the Magsorc is even better than the Arcanist. Been playing both, but I found the Sorc has more survivability due to a better shield, better healing and better single target damage. The Arcanist Is stupidly strong in waveclearing, but lacks survivability. No real shield (the one from Fatecarver only persists while beaming) and no real healing. Solo-wise, the Magsorc provides more value and thus gives the average player better results.

i never use any stamina skills everything is magic i dont see the point magic characters should only use magic says the name magic characters no Ty on stamina skills

I am new to the game, so I am a little bit confused, Why is the Dragonknight so low in the list because of the long Dots and survivability when the solo PvE content is easy?

Magicka dragonknight is perfectly fine for solo, not only it has amazing damage, it has everything it needs in terms of buffs, it also has ability called Burning embers which you should use, you can use it on enemy and its a long dot which heals you for 100% of the damage done, its also very tanky with armor skill, so don't worry, stamina dk is way harder thought maybe don't play it as a beginner solo

Veteran vateshran isn't easy... He's talking about some of the most challenging content in the game, not overland questing, which is probably what you're doing now. He's talking soloing vet arenas and vet 4-man dungeons. For that it can be(doesn't have to) a big advantage to have high burst damage where you can dish out brutal damage for a few seconds to kill off adds, break shields etc. Often you just don't have enough time to get all the dots down before the boss moves/teleports or something else happens ruining your dots. And adds often die long before they take the full damage of the dot.

​@@budpopESO logs top 100 dps for the past 6 patches is almost entirely DKs. Why? A combination of busted aoe combined with ST rivialing sorc and templar.

I don't think there is a class better than magicka nightblade to be honest, all you have to do is spam swallow soup or essence and you never die, every damage ability is basically also a heal and its ranged, also easy rotation and insane ult regeneration

It's not easy to play at all. The damage is alot worse for the swallow soul setup since the conceled weapon nerf and there is no aoe. Magplar is the king of solo in my opinion

@@lukasr1166i also play magplar and honeslty i think it's harder because you have to play in melee and pretty mutch if you stop jabbing you can easly die, so you have to watch yourself on backbar, I think magblade has amazing aoe, unstable wall and then you just spam the sap essence (or second morph, don't remember), and you just crit non stop and melt everything, but blade go to boring I'm trying out stamina dk right, cant decide between this, stam necro or Arcanist

Just watching these clips reminded me of one of the only things i really didnt like about eso... most classes just feel like a sorcerer or magic user.. theres nothing that feels like a hard hitting, melee beefy class.

I respectfully disagree with the DK rankings. A fight that lasts a measly 15 seconds isn't challenging enough to be considered a metric to judge solo performance in my opinion. I think the most important thing to consider is how the class performs against exceptionally difficult content that takes a while to clear and is barely soloable with a high risk of getting one-shot. Basically, veteran dungeon bosses and DLC world bosses. A boss that takes 15 seconds to kill can be killed by anyone with a pulse. DK has god-tier self-healing with a wide selection of abilities like burning embers, cauterize, coagulated blood, cinder storm and the battle roar passive that maxes out your resources every time you ult. It also has very reliable access to important buffs like major prophecy, major savagery, major resolve, major brutality, major sorcery, minor brutality and empower. The heavy reliance on DoTs allows you to focus on blocking, dodging, healing and avoiding hazards without losing out on DPS. In fact, there are some top tier solo DK builds that don't even use a spammable. You just put your DoTs on the boss and run around without a care in the world.

Is just an opinion 🙂 I've been a DK main for 7 years and it felt god tier but then I tried other classes which were even better in some aspects. Just absorb what he's saying 🙂
