Dr Ergot correct. The original smatchet was/is a great fighting knife. The cold steel smatchet is a thin bladed machete with a blade thickness of 2.8mm & 19.75” long. The Fairbairn Smatchet was only 16.5” with a much thicker blade.

Dr Ergot I am very disappointed with the cold steel machetes! Lots of very cool/tacticool designs! But the product quality control is pish poor! I bought 2 for short ones for snake dispatching... I cut a green vine the size of my lil finger & rolled the edge over 1/16” . No temper what so ever!
The Skrama will always be the best. Mordor just makes great quality choppers!

I own the Cold Steel Smatchet for about 3 years now. I stripped the coating, sharpened it to a convex and carved the handle to look like knapped stone I love that blade. Great temper. Rings like a bell when chopping and holds a decent edge
As i love the vesatility of the Skrama, it is my winner here... the Grip is great and the sharpness is outstanding.... oh yeah, it looks a bit as forged by the Orks, bit i like that.
Professionally I use the silky nata. I cut wedges with it and hammer the wedges in with the nata. I cut down brush and tree roots with this knife. I pry stumps. The silky nata is an unstoppable tank of a chopper. Be careful! This is a 2 pound, ten inch long razor.
The DBK boys all gangsta till someone rolls up with an axe and chops through spacetime
I own the silky and live in the maine woods and use it to quarter up some pretty hard wood...Its also extremely comfortable and if your looking for a jack of all trades I would recommend the nata...also very durable blade and can be used to de-limb felled trees with very little effort
I have the Jaakaripuukko which I love so the Skrama is probably the one I would buy first.. I also considered the Cold steel Kukri and is already on my wishlist but I prefer the Skrama overall.
was waiting for u guys to do a review on the Silky chopper ... love it!!
Skrama is my favorite out of those, but the silky looked great as well! I’ll buy the skrama pretty soon I’m sure. Their puukko is amazing for the price, I use it more often than any other of my knives. So I’m sure the skrama will also be exceptional for the price.

If you buy a Silky Nara, get single edge. It has a sharper chop.
You guys should incorporate limbing or trail clearing during your chopper knife tests. That would be great info!
The Nata is just awesome.
I have the Cold Steel Kukri for more than 8 years and I use it a lot, it is great for chopping medium branches and even big ones. Every time I have a garden job I trust him. It is even good in the forest. The most well spend money.
Here in Arizona, my Skrama takes a real beating and never lets me down. Very easy to sharpen as well. Great chopper and all around good knife to have in the outdoors.
I love the cold steel kukri magnum; exactly like the one you tested, but a bit longer. Been abusing it for about 3 years, and for about £30 I am over the moon with it. Keep up the great cheap reveiws!
on my screen the video has 7 views and already 21 comments. U have to best Community ?
Since you promised you read these comments, I thought I should say you guys are definitely my favorite KZreadrs and have bought many knives based on your recommendation.
I have the cold steel kurkri machete. It's the longer version of the one you tested. After a little work with a file and some stones, I found it chops really well.
My Silky Nata just arrived today. Beautiful chopper. I can’t wait to use it.
I like your top would like to see more with that one. Apparently the Kershaw camp 10 is a good contender for budget chopper.
I have the skrama, the Nata and the Condor K-Tac Kukri....all Great knives and i Love them...but like you Said, the best combo have the Skrama! Great Video! Greetings from Bavaria!
Another top video boyzzzzz! My favourite channel. 👍
Tanks, finally you made the video that I was asking you, I bought the Silky Nata and I'm satisfied in Bush with it I don't need no more things except a saw , Silky is a knife an axe a chopper and a cutter
Very epic intro mickey saying “and all under $100” but then the “ehheeuhuehe” in the background 😂
Guys it will be cool to see how these knives perform being sharpened. Thank you for cool videos ;)
skrama forever
Please make a video, about the glock 81 field knife!
I love the Skrama. I also like the CS kukri because it's more lightweight and if you only need it for chopping. But if just for chopping I prefer a 10 dollar Tramontina 12 inch latin machete because of the weight. The Skrama is heavier but is more the one tool option because you can carve with it also. I think that extended grip is the key to the success of the Skrama.
I use the Silky nata in woods and I enjoy the day ,you have the nata you have knife , chopper, axe and multi tool, all in one, and it won't let you down
I had the big cold steel kukri for about 5 years it never disappointed it’s not fancy but it gets the job done
I have the Skrama in Carbon steel and its a dream to use, I was on the fence about the Silky Nata but from your testing I will definitely have to pick one up.
Loved the Silky
Yup!
I just got my Skrama and am very impressed with the factory edge. I usually have to run my Cold Steel machetes through a Smith's before they'll slice paper.
The Skrama looks great. The inline handle would provide a lot of usability and comfort.
I really enjoy your videos. Filled with solid information and senseful logic; which is hard to come by these days even on KZread. Btw... I would really really appreciate if you make a separate detailed review video for the silky nata..
Love my Skrama!
Nicely done, greetings from a Belgian bushcrafter
Top notch video.
Silky, like your baby-soft skin. Feels so good in the hand
I’ve had the cold steel kukirie for 5 years I still use it around the house and camp
For that long time waiting a 1.5 intro was worth it.
The Terävä Skrama is incredible. They make a double sheath for it, so you can carry the 240 Skrama and either the mini Puuko or the mini Skrama. You'd have your BIG Camp knife/chopper and a small knife for deilcate work. Great choice!
Excellent content 👍🏻
About bloody time
I need that Skrama in my life.
I have the the skrama and i never will change
This was a very good video. Its my new favourite. It was absolutely EPIC. 💪 My favourit is still the skrama.
Ontario SP 53 is my personal favorite.
This is perfect dbk video
Wow really amazing video!!! :D
I have many Cold steel products. The longer kukuri is amazing. Heck I only used a steel on it to shave paper!!! Blessings 🙏
I realy like the skrama for me ist it the best , and i will also buy the jääkäri pukko. You guys do a great job
Got the nata. Good stuff.
Epic, loved it. Skraama.i think i screwed up the spelling, but you know which one. Really good job
FYI 2022 prices; In the U.S. the Silky Nata is 85$ without shipping (likely free) and the Skrama is 80$ (plastic sheath) with shipping (must be paid). The Nata is 23.2 ounces at 16.75in and .19in thick... and the Skrama is 18.5 ounces at 16.9in and .17in thick. I think the Skrama is the winner based on low weight to performance.
Hi DBK, greetings from Chile, I had the Silky Nata, and I can tell you it's great and very versatile, the grid is a little weird for a chopper but works well once you have use to it, so please make a full review.
For the money the cold steel Kukri is fantastic. The silky is great too.
Kukri would win chopping comp if you sharpened it. Cold steel machetes come with such a bad edge

As someone who owns the same kukri: Sadly, it wouldn't. Sharpening is not enough, you have to re-grind it completely before it stops being a disappointment.

As you saw with the skrama, it's not a matter of sharpness only but edge profile, blade thickness and weight
The smatchet chopping performance was better than i expected because it is sold as a machete. Its not going to chop wood or split nearly as well because of the blade profile. I knew the kukri would do well. It was designed for chopping over 100 years ago. You guys should look into trying out a Himalayan Imports kukri. I'm going to Amazon to look for the Silky chopper right now.
The silky looks interesting. From experience I like the kukri
I love the Silky Nata … second to none! … and the Silky Ono is epic …
I use the Condor Duku parang for chopping. You should check it out. The 10 inch blade is perfect for a great number of tasks.
I like the Silky best.
Grt video. Thx. Cold steel kukri
I'll take a Kuhkri everyday, have never used the cold steel kuh. but something about that front heavy re-curve that just works well for me. Waiting for BRK to make one!
Those are great knives, for the price! Love your vids guys yall are amazing. Im also dutch yay😂
U fellas got the best channel on KZread
Forte abraço aqui do Brasil!
I’ve had a silky for a few years and like it a lot. But the skrama is king!
Loved the video. I think overall the kukri won due to the fact it was only 25 dollars.....25? Thats awesome
I like the Nata. It's on my wishlist.
Молодцы❤️😁
How on earth does this video not have the Ontario Marine raider bowie SP10 in it??????? For around 50 dollars this is imo is the best chopper for under $100. Probably as good as anything that Becker or Esee make for way more $$
Skrama for the money and weight/ergonomics. Bark River Dakar in A-2 good balance/weight and handle, but 250.00 U.S.D.. Good work fellas, keep it up.
Love y’all and please do a review on the mora eldris or an Cold Steel Espada
I would add the silky to my shopping list, in case I wanted a chopper. For now I will stick to knife and small axe. Thanks for the review guys! watch those fingers...
I already have the kukri, I'll probably get the smatchet next as a heavy machete.
I would buy the Skrama.
Silkie. But with the Single bevel. It helps to get a flat surface along the length of a piece of wood like for spoon making.
Love your videos and think you should test the msk-1 sometime and see if it lives up to the hype
I think all are good depens of you skill knife because all has a diferente performence for the shape
i really like the cold steel machetes. cheap and easy but nearly indestructible.
You read them all? Thank you guys for making videos!
If i would need a chopper i would go with the skrama because i like the looks of the knife
Like from Brazil 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
You are my best friends I have never met. Yet! Cheers!
Wow I missed this video last week! I had hoped to see the Kershaw Kukri Machete in this chopping contest, to bad they didn't reach out to you guys. I love mine and at least mine came pretty dang sharp for a machete!
The cold steel gurka kukri(excuse spelling) is a beast of a knife and was razor sharp right out of the box. Wish it was part of the test .
@DutchBushcraftKnives
4 жыл бұрын
It isn't under $100 sadly so it couldn't be part of the test
Skrama all the way. Also have the CS kukri but if I wanted to test a Nata I’d go with the Tops nata.
The Skramas are so very useful. Really great knives. Way ahead of almost anything out there of this ilk.
I have the Becker BK4 Kukri and the Skrama I used a canoe scythe sharpening stone to sharpen the recurve of the kukri Once the kukri is sharpened well, if has a strong sweet spot and chops much better Using the canoe stone the recurve cn be quite acute and handles fine work very well BUT the Skrama out performs the kukri on all types of tasks

Ontario SP53 bolo is weighty and awesome for about $50. You should get one.
You guys should try out the condor mini duku parang had mine for a few years I’ve put a thinner convex on mine and it cuts and chops better than any other tool I own
The only one I have tried is the Skrama. It usually outperforms big knives like Junglas and BK9. I can’t say this is true from my own experience, but it is good enough that I do not lust after any other chopper in 10-11” range.
i am always a sucker for a kukri blade
