Great vid......to be honest I've found all your vids, good, honest and helpful. I use Normfest Aircon treatment (eurocarparts) first via the footwell on recirculation for 10mins to clean out the bugs, etc in the vents and internal air system/pollen filter, then the air fresheners seem to last longer....one last point, whilst watching this I had the volume up, missus heard your description for the CG stripper scent and firmly said 'your not buying that one'! Keep up the good work

Useful video mate! I'm looking for a decent combo of neutral smelling odour enzyme eliminator and palatable fragrance. I've found a decent eliminator but it's not car specific, it's for carpets and fabrics by 3M but I might give the CG Strawberry Daquiri a whirl as the actual fragrance. Nice one

hey jonto. the valetpro I think was the most potent and best value odour eliminator but the smell was really weak.. IE it just had hardly any fragerence.. but its cheap so might be worth having... I think the CG offerings are quit cool, the strawberry one is nice and it will last forever..

I have AutoSmart air fresheners and I agree with your comments. The fragrance comes out at about 100mph and is incredibly strong with chemical twang. The bubble gum one masked a horrible wet dog smell until I could clean the car thoroughly. When they run out I'll probably go for the battenberg or black cherry from the wax pack.

yer they are really effective. but the bloody cans feel close to empty. Its like just fill the fucking things up properly boyz ffs. couple of blasts and they are empty. then you get the old "user error boyz" that tell you its your fault and you need to just tap the spray for a millisecond to make them last longer etc.. :( they could be really good.

I love the smell of Chemical Guys Stripper Scent (now called Signature Scent), good job my car is an auto because weirdly enough I can't use my left leg once I've smelt it! I've yet to find a spray that lasts more than a few hours, they just don't. The best, most gorgeous, upmarket smell I've found is Rituals Car Perfume Ritual of Samurai. It's Arabian Amber and Musk. Makes a prestige car smell even more amazing. Because it clips over the air vent (it's small and comes in a beautiful wooden case) it only really gives off fragrance when the vents are on so it lasts months. It's in a gel strip inside the wooden case. Because it lasts so long it works out better value than the sprays I think even though at first it's not cheap to buy. I now have two in my XK and it's smells amazing every time I drive it. The bottle of Stripper Scent I have is a quarter gone in 5 days! Spray the car liberally one evening and you won't smell it the next morning. Air Wick and Glade both do that fresh linen scent in their range of home scents Jon. The ones where you put a can inside a plastic container and they are battery powered. You can set them to spray every 9, 18 or 36 minutes. I reckon they would be the best and most economical option for a car! Put one under your seat, strapped down of course, or secured in the boot, set to 36 minutes and off you go! Simples!

Great video! I actually ordered 7 different Chemical Guys spray scent to try them. Only thing bugging me is WHERE to spray them. I am not a fan of just spraying sticky smelly juice into the interior. I have thought of having a small plastic box under a seat with a cheap sponge in it and spraying the sponge. Want to change the scent? Trash the 0.05$ sponge and put a new one in? Am I overthinking this? Your thoughts?

  • @dashdastardly

You're right in what your thinking. Over time, a invisible film builds up which you only really come to notice when you wash your carpets and you realise thats where you always sprayed your in car scent......I thought exactly what you did but it jiggles about, people see it....ask silly questions...you then have to explain :-/ so....I now use the in-vent 'pegs' £3.50 for a pack of 5 and each one lasts several weeks.

  • @ForensicDetailing

nothing, any upholstery or fabric air freshner will work on automotive fabric or upholstery. you could argue a car has a different sort of smell to a house all the formeldahyde in the pastics and the leather give it this sort of mainly car smell, so perhaps febreeze does not compliment this but its all personal preference.

Autosmart is the longest lasting fragrance that Ive used, just go easy on the trigger finger as you only need a second of spray for the whole car. Switch on engine, set blowers to high and to recirculate, blast the spray for a second, close the door and let the blowers run for 10 mins. Job done.

I generally have the air con or vents off.. but ive been using blast for years.. Id say you get at least 10-14 days out of it.. longer if you go mad with it... I find using at the end of the detail blast it in there and close all the doors and let it settle into the fabrics etc.. something has to be wrong if its only lasting 2 hours i think TMT.
