    TY. That's really helpful. A term that sometimes gives interesting results is Candid shot. It often delivers a "fly-on-the wall" perspective of the subject in action but unaware of the camera. A couple of other terms commonly used by Cinematographers that you'll find in most film scripts are Mid-shot and Long-shot. KUTGW ✌️

    Great, well paced, well informed, well edited post. For what it's worth there are Five "Classical" poses: Right Profile. Right 2/3 Profile. Full Face. Left 2/3 Profile. Left Profile. [This doesn't mean those are the only poses] Unfortunately MidJourney doesn't (yet) understand this. My own test results were mixed -- like it was guessing. I hope one day MJ recognizes these poses as well as map specific lenses.

    Great video! May I ask why in 12:08 you wrote two aspect ratios?

  • @FutureTechPilot

    @FutureTechPilot

    10 ай бұрын

    the extra aspect ratio is just because I have 16:9 set as my suffix. So it automatically gets added to all of my prompts. However, when you manually write one into your prompt, it will show up first and become the ratio that gets used

    Hi there! I'm new to the channel, midjourney and chatgpt4 as well. The thing I do know a fair amount about is photography. So, I've been prompting 8x10 camers, some pretty funky old portrait lenses, to have the aperture wide open, any film I think appropriate for the circumstances AND 1:1 contact printing. The thing is I swear I'm seeing appropriate results in doing so! Now it might be all the drugs I did as a kid or could my brain actually telling me the truth? Another, thing I do that seems to work is specifying a Tracked 4x5 Speed Graphic when that seems more appropriate. Consider that a "pro tip" if in fact its working. Holga does a decent job as well. I know pinhole is supposed to work, but the funny thing is I find that one to be less convincing. Thanks for any thoughts.

    I suspect the Dutch angle shot picked up more on the word Dutch, went with Dutch lighting from landscapes, and threw in a touch of Rembrandt lighting (a term attributed to Cecil B Demille, which may or may not have actually been inspired by Dutch lighting- we'll let art and cinema historians fight that battle) from the portrait side. It's not a classical representation of either, but MJ seems to be doing a nice blend of it. A word to try would be Chiaroscuro, a lighting/painting technique using dramatic contrast. Rembrandt is a softer form.

    For animations how do we make them tilt the head to the left or right?

  • @FutureTechPilot

    @FutureTechPilot

    Tilted heads are tough in Midjourney. It can be random. I'd use a lower stylize value in my prompt (--s 30 or --s 40) and maybe also include a reference image in your prompt

  • @brettnfk

    You won't see different results with some of these unless certain aspects of the prompt are different. Starting with the aspect ratio itself, you'll get varying results with different aspect ratios. Also deciding if the portrait is going to be full body, head and shoulders, face only etc. will alter things. An example: a full body portrait using a telephoto lens should give a distinct look that simply stepping closer to the model with a wider lens can't produce, due to the compression of the background. I also find using actual focal lengths (16mm, 24mm, 85mm etc.) produces better results for me than saying "wide lens" or "zoom lens". Even stating the camera (Sony A7iii, Fujifilm GFX100 etc.) can have an effect. So too can adjusting the f-stop affect the look, the depth or shallowness of the focus. Stating specific lenses like a Sony 90mm Macro or a Canon 50mm f/1.2 can also help to get a specific look.

  • @FutureTechPilot

    @FutureTechPilot

    Жыл бұрын

    I agree, but since naming a camera or focal length doesn't actually do what it's supposed to, I don't like to recommend them when teaching. Like, say 5mm or 100mm, midjourney doesn't accurately produce the difference. But I know what you mean, you can definitely achieve the same look using the techniques you mentioned

  • @brettnfk

    @brettnfk

    Жыл бұрын

    @@FutureTechPilot I find naming things works as often for me as saying "wide shot" or "telephoto". So I tend to bounce between doing both. But on the whole I get what I'm after more often when I name the lens types. But it would be nice if there was a very streamlined naming system not only for lens type, but for angles (these are hit and miss for me, can't tell you how often "low-angle" has still been eye-level), and for posing models, as something like three-quarter pose almost never works for me.

    What is your obsession with 'unsplash' in all of your videos? What does it do and how do you know it's not effecting what you're trying to accomplish, like lens types?

  • @FutureTechPilot

    @FutureTechPilot

    Жыл бұрын

    haha that's a good point about it effecting the lens type! But I reallllly don't think it does, because Unsplash is much more of a vibe/color grade than anything else. It's actually just a stock photography website, but it's full of beautiful cinematic pictures, so you can just say 'unsplash' in your prompt instead of 'cinematic photography, dramatic lighting, canon camera etc. etc.'

    Some people say that artificial intelligence is good, while others say that artificial intelligence makes people less intelligent. But basically, if we consider the goal, it doesn't matter if there is artificial intelligence or not, the important thing is that we should always take steps towards getting better, whether with artificial intelligence or without that dear friend.
