    As an owner of a MY18 MQ triton, i installed an ironman bullbar with 8x22mm holes drilled through the rails etc, a daunting process on your first ever done, I can say that it is a decent bar that doesnt move around much (been tested well) though it is showing signs of rust when it should not. The canopy had to be replaced and is still leaking, the locking mechanism has now had water in it and works occasionally due to the leak factor. The customer service is very slow, and was a painfull process. Im still waiting for a reply to my glass cracking on side window of canopy where the locking mechanism is attached, as well as why the windows are now rubbing on the metal . The roof racks have blown out with rust already showing through the black powdercoat job on the top of the canopy. The chrome on the bullbar is pitting as well and is very low grade chrome obviously. Trying to maintain the look of the car requires a great deal of effort. It only sees a beach from the car park except for 10 days a year where it may be on the beach being used as it should be. I wash it down at the boat ramp every day use every rust prevention shit possible. Every bullbar i have seen moves, this one has been good, but the quality is shit. Its cheaper, but not by alot. Completely happy with my TJM rear bar. TJM snorkel is awesome too. wouldnt even consider an ironman snorkel. Safari yes as well. choose quality.

    Nice review of accessories. Just doing my homework on the accessories that will cost us on the new Triton sometimes. Is it cheaper to get a Pajero sports or a Mux? I was talking to a guy that drinks at our local pub yesterday. He works for accessories and detail on brand new Toyotas. Anyway he was saying if you can afford it pay the extra and get the factory accessories. He says it comes with warranty. If you overheat with their bull bar, it's Toyota's issue. If it's an aftermarket it's your issue and the bull bar company issue. When we get the car if I get tub liner,, what's the easiest way to put something that's not too expensive over the top? Or will I regret going the cheap way and should have gone with a canopy or a hardlid? Thanks.

    Are they all steel? Or aluminium? Weight is a factor, sometimes i am towing a 3ton dual axle boat and any kg I can save is worth it. (The triton is such an under rated tow vehicle btw).

    They’re hooped bars not looped bars 😝😝 I have an Ironman bar on my 2019 Hilux and has hit 50 kangaroos with very minimal damage; couple chips in the powder coat and a slight bend in the bash plate. The powder coat is a bit thin though (standard black). My Father has a 2010 Hilux with an ARB bull bar that has hit over 100 kangaroos. Pretty much zero damage and the powder coat has lasted well. Approach angle is bad on the newer models however. Bit of extra info if you do another review/comparison in future. It’s so hard to find decent reviews on bullbars. Cheers!

    Doing research for my mq and the main thing for me is protecting the front, ability to install a winch if I need to and recovery points. I can’t understand how a vehicle designed for off-road use doesn’t come with them stock!! You get bogged and some poor bloke can snatch you out but you don’t have recovery points?? Won’t be a good day for anyone when a tie down point let’s loose on someone trying to help out.

    I was tossing up between the TJM outback and Ironman Commercial deluxe, ended up settling (for now) on the TJM outback just purely for the front airflow design on the TJM bar, the larger front grill area looks like it will flow more air to the radiator....

    I’ve got a SmartBar on mine. There are 2 types, winch and non-winch. Its the same bar but different bracket that is installed. You Can have a recovery point installed but only on the winch compatible bar, I have this on mine. It’s peace on mind really. I feel confident that if I have an animal strike I will still be able to get home with minimal to no damage on my car and not have to replace my bar. :)

    Put an ARB Summit bar and rated recovery point on my MR. Self installed. Saved the install costs and put it towards a winch which I also installed myself. Install of bar was really straight forward but at least double the install time ARB recommends if you plan on doing it yourself. 5hrs...bah. Great instructions and this thing is a very precise fit. I'm not an ARB fanboy but you do get what you pay for.

    I'd go with an Xrox bar for a Triton, keep it as light as possible. I used to have an MN with all the gear and it hated the weight. I had a lot of issues with that car because I believe I loaded it up too much and expected too much of it offroad pulling a 80kg bullbar, rock sliders, winch, second battery, canopy, big tyres etc etc. It had major issues before 60,000k's

    @@AdmissionGaming head gasket (common apparently) and needed a new engine because it overheated. Steering rack needed replacement, a headlight had to be replaced because it kept filling up with condensation, air bag light came on occasionally and Mitsubishi just cleared it and said it's fine, came on a few months later again. The stock tyres wore out very quickly, as did the brake pads and also the suspension was really floppy after about 30,000ks so had to be changed.

    @@jasonalexander7434 I don't really see any 4n15s with head gasket issues? Mostly the 4d56 of the Mn generation. Maybe you were unlucky or running an early series ironman bullbar without proper airflow?

    genuine bullbar is the best. its tested with the cooling set up of the vehicle during development, lightweight alloy, works with lights and indicators, retains the sensors, retains the handling characteristics, is air bag compliant and retains the 5 star safety rating as it doesn't affect the crumple zone of the vehicle. how many companies have stuck their bullbar on a car and done actual crash testing with multiple cars to see if it will save the occupants.

    Hey mate, with having a year past since the video was done, what bullbar is your preference? I'm wanting something light weight with the best airflow, that's going to offer protection. I don't really care for offroading / clearance as my ute is mainly a tow vehicle. What would you recommend?

  • @mrtriton5405

    @mrtriton5405

    Жыл бұрын

    Hey mate, assuming your towing will be on the highway I'd recommend a looped bar for the added animal strike protection. It really depends how much your willing to spend and what build quality you're after. The ARB Summit bar is fantastic and the build quality is great compared to other bars like the Piak or Ironman. That said, if you're just after something to mount a light bar to a nudge bar would do.

    Ironman bullbars aren’t even close to being in the same dimension, let alone league as ARB and TJM. I’m reasonably certain the tubing is made from the cardboard cylinder inside a dunny roll, reinforced with aluminium foil. Have a look at the design of Ironman recovery points if you want an insight into how much R&D they do.
