The best browser for research
Ғылым және технология
Kosmik is an all-in-one research software for creatives, students and knowledge workers. With its infinite canvas and integrated browser, Kosmik makes it possible to browse the web, capture assets, tag them, take notes and share them with your team or friends.
In this video we introduce Kosmik 2.6 with a completely overhauled browser that's just a key away whatever you're doing in Kosmik. Just click "W" and type your search.

I downloaded the app right after watching this video. I like the concept very very much. I just want to suggest 2 small changes (after 10 minute using it) that could improve the user experience: 1.- Dragging the canvas should be performed pressing the middle button (the scroll wheel button), like we all are used to do in Figma, Sketchup and similars. 2.- Canvas zoom should be more granular, the magnification for a single scroll wheel step is too high. That said, I repeat, this software is based on a very very cool concept and I already love it. It's Obsidian for the multimedia world. If I can suggest my humble guide line: please don't rush to add features without testing the UX and UI experience. Keep it simple, keep it functional and avoid interface cluttering. You have a software diamond, just do solid steps on every release.

Hey!! Thank you so much for this detailed message! Here are some answers: 1 - Noted and agree! Are you by any chance using a Logitech mouse? 2 - Same, next week update (wednesday) will introduce a refactored zoom along with dark mode theme and a few other improvements! Thank you so so so much, we're effectively building a multimedia canvas for knowledge workers! Agree completely on straightening the UX/UI before adding too much. some of the things we're working on right now: - Better memory management and "load on demand" to make the canvas smoother. - Better more standard keyboard shortcuts. - Improved loading times with better caching. - Coherent "create" for every object. - Better tags and search with "backlinks" on objects that were extracted from PDF/Web - Shapes and arrows to connect objects - Dark mode Really looking forward to your feedback on our next releases!

I think these features would be better implemented as a separate controller app for a phone. Or perhaps you could virtualize the phone within the browser too, but it should make sense to treat the PC as a box of materials, while your handheld is a way to excavate and annotate how those materials are arranged.

Goal tracker is trickier (how should it work, how do you keep track of things properly in the canvas, should it always be visible in a separate panel, etc). As for reports do you mean for example a weekly email digest of what was added/removed in a universe? We're working on folders right now, they will look like little stacks that you can open and will work in conjunction with our tag systems, if you have ideas/feature requests around folders please let us know this is a hot topic at Kosmik! This is exactly what i needed for my research purposes, thank you very much! My suggestion are a default font size setting for the drag and drop of text and something like straight lines instead of free hand drawing for quick flow charts (and a "erease all" button for the drawing). Also maybe some basic keybindings customization, specifically because i find more easy to move in the canvas by holding the mouse wheel instead of spacebar

Great concept! It took me several minutes to create an account and log in. I also didn't find the interface to be that intuitive, apart from the ability to drag and drop literally anything. The desktop app is incredibly buggy, at least during onboarding. I was confused about the difference between Intel and ARM, zoom in using mouse wheel is not smooth, the browsing link doesn't work and many more issues. I am not discounting the product, but I would love to give more feedback and be part of testing it.

If you have some time we'd love to have you as a beta tester and learn more about what felt unintuitive or buggy. The sign up flow is being redone because of the aforementioned problems. Agree! We're still in the early iterations of this canvas+browser metaphor!
This is just Amazing!
Is there an option to expand and contact URL links, cause for a URL having the URL picture take up too much space doesn't feel right. What do you think?

Completely agree, we're working on a "compact mode" where you'll be able to hide the picture and only have the URL + favicon and description if there's one

@@kosmik_app thats so epic, im really happy to get this feature!
Awesome. and thank you for it =].
Nice idea. I just installed. My only challange is I can only use one tab at a time. When I research, I open multiple tabs then review them independently... Also, I can not see the history of my browsing These are deal breakers for me But I love the idea Welldone

Hey, thank you for your comment! Both of those are planned! Stacked side panels for tabs and we're still working on several hypothesis for history!
I just found this so I'm gonna be trying this out here in a day or two. From a quick glance, I'm deeply hoping that I can change where the web page appears with a press of a button on the fly (left side or right side). Example of what I'm thinking of: 1. Browser opens like normal. 2. I load a web page I want and it appears on the left side of screen, with canvas on right side. 3. I press a control key (i.e. ctrl + g) and the web page instantly floats to the right side of the screen while the canvas shifts over the the left a little. 4. I do research and when I find something I wanna place on the canvas I can press the same control key (i.e. ctrl + g) to switch the layout back to default, with the web page on the left and the canvas on the right, so I can start dragging and dropping things onto the canvas. I don't know why but I've always like to have the content I'm most concerned about to be on the dominant side of my view, which is the right side. I't makes researching a little easier for me to digest for some reason 😅

Hello, thank you for your message! The side panel is for now only on the left but we will offer an option to open it on the right side of the screen!

@kosmik_app oh, you don't need to apologize. It is no your fault. Also, I've read your privacy policy, and I like it. I am very interested in further information about the technology stack (in addition to IPFS). And I like the space thematic 😊
Great job!
