I just have to share- I’ve been watching your videos on and off since middle school (I’m now in grad school), and some of my favorite reads over the years have been your recommendations. Your videos are now kind of nostalgic to me and I’m overjoyed that you’re still making them. These Violent Delights has been on my shelf for a while, I will read it very soon now!
Hamnet is on my favorites list of 2022 I loved it
I read Ninth House twice this year- once just recently. To prepare. For Hell Bent- which comes out today! I can't WAIT!!!!
#1 is just the cutest love confession to a book... ever🧄🧛🏻♂️😄 The best 2 books of 2022 for me are: • The Lincoln Highway by Amor Towles • Bridge of clay by Markus Zusak I bet you'll like both of them. Absolutely epic stories!

Beautiful comment and share...slow start for us this morning! +TBR 'The Lincoln HWY ...Happy Bookish Monday Friends🤗🤩
Hamnet was wonderful! My favorite read of the year was Thrust, by Lidia Yuknavitch, which I've not seen anyone else mention on the best-of lists, but I thought it was an amazing and affecting work of imagination.
I am a big Dan Brown fan
Hi. How is it that your vlogs calm me and excite me at the same time? 😂 I read 38 books last year. My favorite reads of 2022 were: Cloud Cuckoo Land by Anthony Doerr, The Professor and the Madman by Simon Winchester, Long Bright River by Liz Moore, The Home-Maker by Dorothy Canfield Fisher. My favorite audio books were: Miss Benson’s Beetle by Rachel Joyce and On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous by Ocean Vuong.
HAMNET was one of my favorites of 2022 as well. Bewilderment , Upgrade, Thistlefoot, Light Pirate , Olga Dies Dreaming , Serena and The Trees are some others .
So many great books, If We Were Villians was one of my favourites last year. I also really liked These Violent Delights and Ninth House. I agree I didn't find the start of Ninth House to be dense either
I was literally opening my Goodreads right as you were saying you'll like Stoner if you know it's for you. *nods head...Yup!
Stoner is one of my favorite books of the year too. The writing is fantastic and keeps you reading even though it's a slow burn.
❤️📚❤️ I own Hamnet, have yet to puck it up...now I'm motivated! Thanks!
I'm putting The Appeal on my TBR. It makes me think of How to Get Away with Murder and I loved that show 😄
Great list. We have such similar reading tastes. I loved many of these, including Stoner and Garlic and the Vampire. My favorite of the year was probably Between Two Fires, a beautifully written, dark standalone novel with wonderful characters set in the Medieval period.
Thank you Alice ! It was great looking back at this year. You know what they say, people who read the most about death are the ones who enjoy life the most. Hope you will have a wonderful year 2023 !
I totally agree with you. The first page I just knew… 😊

By the way I am talking about Hamnet lol
I just started Garlic and Vampire today. 🙂
My absolute favorite book of 2022 was: Som pesten by There Vibeke Holst. Did not expect that at all, it's so outside my comfort zone! Other favorites were: Kindred (Butler) and Hamnet 🥰
You totally sold me on Garlic & the Vampire!! I’ve already ordered it. Also, Hamnet…YES!!!! It’s an all time favorite for me and I’m thrilled you had such a wonderful time with it too. O’Farrell’s new book, Portrait of a Marriage is in my top ten for 2022. It’s not better than Hamnet but it is a fabulous read. As always, I’m looking forward to your next thoughtful video. Cheers!
I checked out Garlic Vampire from the library. I will be sure to 📖 read it today!!!

+TBR we are catching up on our bookish videos today ! Happy Monday Friends🥰
I need to reread Angels and Demons again, i also read it a VERY long time ago, right after it was released . I loved it!!!!!
I really enjoyed The Appeal. It's one of my favourite books of 2022 too. I definitely want to read Ninth House. And just added Stoner to my ever-expanding TBR ☺
We share 2 favorites from last year: These Violent Delights and Emma. 😄 Some others I loved: The Little Friend, The Outsiders (by S.E. Hinton), The Starless Sea (I feel like you might love this one!), Brideshead Revisited, The Idiot (by Elif Batuman), A Tree grows in Brooklyn...
So amused that your list was filled with dark academia and death nonfiction, and then Garlic and the Vampire to end!😂 It really was sweet, though, and the artwork was so cute.
I love your channel and your style! Have you read Stiff by Mary Roach? It is a fantastic postmortem book that I think you would really enjoy!
Hi Alice, thank you for the video, always nice to see you. I would like to read book by Maggie O'Farrell, but I think I will start with "The Marriage Portrait", and then move to "Hamnet" 📚🕯❤
Oh my God! I wasn't going to watch this video. Or at least skip parts of it. But I am so happy I didn't. Yours was best best books of the year video. I even LoL'ed when you were talking about The Garlic and the Vampire. So good 😌
I hardly read last year, but I thoroughly enjoyed The Thursday Murder Club and The Man Who Died Twice (I’m currently reading The Bullet that Missed), all thanks to you! I just finished The Marriage Portrait, and that’s enough Maggie O’Farrell for me - too many words to tell the story, and things left unfinished (although they were small, it was like she just forgot to carry on that topic), and too fictionalized. I’d rather read a true history of the person. Anyway, I do really enjoy your reviews!
Yes! ☕🍪📚
Omigosh Alice! I thought you were going to say The War That Saved My Life, or possibly The Secret Garden!! Instead you say a graphic novel. I want to like graphic novels but so far, no. I love your format. Good, Great and Best is the way to go! My Best was Razorblade Tears. Great was Dear Edward. Good was Elizabeth is Missing.
