When I played Paper Mario N64, I only ever increased health and nothing else. Only made it to Huff Puff before getting stuck on him. Just not enough healing and damage to out-do him.

I lost every major fight as a kid because I was a munchkin: "I'm not increasing my BP! That's dumb!" As an adult, I realized most badges give you an additional viable option in the fight or improve something you can do. I beat the main game without overleveling and without any character losing all their HP at all thanks to having more BP increases than HP and FP combined.

Same. This game was my first turn based battle RPG so I was horrendous with understanding the mechanics as a kid, now that I know the ins and outs of how the badges work (especially with "Danger Mario") I can breeze through the Pit of 100 Trials easily 💀

Even without buffs, the raw utility of having access to every partner ability at all times is enough to make it a contender for best badge. Same deal in Paper Mario 64.

With the silhouette at the beginning I was very much expecting you to troll and say Pity Flower

You don't have to worry about dying if the enemy never gets its turn.

I have been saying this for years. Quick Change is 100% the best badge if you are not doing some Low Level Strat because it goes with any playstyle, Peril Strats as well as Defensive, I almost never take it off once I equip it, the ONLY time it is absolutely 100% useless is 2nd half of Chapter Four

I also remove it when fighting in the Glitz Pit sometimes, or when I already have some one-shot strat worked out for a battle. Otherwise, yeah, it basically gives you free turns to change your tactics at a whim.

Yesss, a fellow Quick Change connoisseur! Whenever I play through either 64 or TTYD, I speedrun getting Quick Change the moment it becomes available and then never take it off afterwards. It drives me mad how I can’t get it as fast in TTYD as I can in 64 tho-

Quick Change for casual play means I don't have to have goombella out at all times for tattle and I can hang out with the rest of the team whenever I want

I always stack Power Rush badges after i find Chet Rippo, cheap, but effective.

I like to make Madame Flurrie immortal with dmg 10 kisses. Girlie is sucking the life out of everything.

I use the Quick Change badge in both Thousand Year Door and the original Paper Mario all the time, but mostly so I can switch my partners without using up a turn which is helpful. But I had no idea it could be used like that!

Power rush and mega rush together stacked…. I havnt even had a boss get a chance to hit me so far in the remake

I just played TTYD for the first time on Switch and I loved this badge so much. It let me use a greater variety of the partners and made me more comfortable experimenting

Thanks for telling me this! Now I'm gonna use this in the remake!

I wouldn't count on it. It sounds to me like it was an unintended feature, perma-buffing a character through a badge that was meant to increase your options in a turn.

Allergy/Space Food also helps because allergy doesn’t allow new buffs/debuffs until it ends

Before even seeing this video I was upgrading BP so I could use this. It's insanely helpful to be able to freely switch in your partner. I didn't even know buffs held, now it's crazy broken. Time to beat the Pit of 100 Trials with Troggdor the Yoshi endlessly buffed

Quick Change is definitely a must have. Not only does it have great usage in a playstyle and combination with other badges and skills, it's incredibly useful for newer players as it does as the design intended.

I never thought about that, but I considered it one of the best badges anyways nevertheless. Being able to swap partners on the fly as needed is amazing.

Power Rush: So, Chet Rippo and I were talking, and we would respectfully disagree.

quick change is not the best badge but it’s definitely good, i would say the power rush badges are some of the best in the game, maybe including mega rush even if it’s risky. regardless, if you can set it up, you never have to worry about enemies until you level up and are forced to get healed. if you play it smart you can get into danger or peril incredibly easily

I only used it because being able to swap out a partner and act on the same turn was really useful, damn

It's wild to listen to youtubers talking about an older game and it's strategies and secrets as if the game just came out. I mean, the game's secrets, glitches and best strategies are all very well understood and documented, so it's kinda strange to see a new generation discover it like this. It honestly feels like someone's digging through your room, pulling out stuff and putting it up in a museum as if they're some great archeologist.

You could also do this with a Peril Goombella/Yoshi, they never take damage again, and therefore have absurd damage output

I discovered this by accident in the last 10 floors of the Pit of 100 Trials, and it's firmly the only reason I defeated Bonetail.

The ability to change on the fly on who you want is a great tool, as adapting to any situation is vital

It hasn't changed in the remake from what I've seen thus far, kupo. I could be wrong though, kupo.

Yoshi in front, With ChargeP, Mario in back. keep charging yoshi, swapping him out for a higher health partner to tank, when ready to attack throw yoshi in the back use Power lift, then Stampede. destroys every boss

That's true, but quick change just complements so many other badges. Alongside mega Rush p, it makes your peril partner never have to worry about dying. I'd say if nothing else, it's the most versatile

Fire drive is also really good, you can stop Grodus from being able to do anything because it targets the wand and Grodus, but the damage done to both is used in the calculation for if his wand will fail when every other group attack doesn't.

Peril builds are boring though. Charge stacking is a real man's strategy

Quick Change - also known as opening a temporal and spatial rift for my own benefit.

I was able to beat bonetail for the first time thanks to this badge. You can get goombella into peril beforehand, then put her in front with quick change, multibonk, then quick change again so she stays in peril, and use one of the other partners as a temporary meat shield until the next turn.

Quick Change isn't just good for this reason, it also means you can keep one partner at 1 health to make them very powerful with Mega Rush P, attack with them first, switch them out before Mario has his turn, & tank the enemy's turn with your defensive partner that you keep at full health. This strat is powerful enough to make it possible to complete the Pit of 100 trials with just Goombella & Koops before defeating Hooktail.

Yeah I love quick change. But my favourite badge is unironically Double Pain because I love making the game harder. All jokes aside, my favourite helpful Badge is Power Bounce because Power Lift is so broken and you get it after Chapter 3.

On the Bonetail Boss-Fight I just remember charging up with Yoshi, and then before every turn ended, swapping them out with Mario's Quick Change so that they wouldn't die mid-battle. It was glorious watching Bonetail die to Groundpound with a +24 Charge.

I would say Mega Rush P should also be the best one, because if you combine both you have a death machine that does absurb dmg and you evade the 1 HP problem, Both badges also work great separetly but together they are op

Im killing everything in 1-3 turns no need for quick change. Get+10 extra attack on my first turn with already 8 attack doing 120+ damage on turn 2.

I beat the final boss AND every superboss in the game with this. :) (Yoshi Kid is absolutely busted with this and Power Plus P and Flower Saver P, having two multihit attacks with one of them targetting all opponents on the field, a move that uses an opponent's defense against them, AND a more situational move to reduce attack power of multiple opponents as long as you're lucky with who they hit. Buff him with Lift Up and then swap to Bobbery or Flurrie to damage sponge and you've got a literal "team carry")

I used to always keep Quick Change to keep key party members alive by making characters who aren't doing damage "tank" hits before swapping them back out. But man, not sure how I missed this.

Quick change essentially gives you all partner’s abilities at once with no extra cost. Of course it’s an extremely useful badge.

Yeah it makes it so much better. I didn’t realize how helpful it was. I didn’t buy it until the last chapter of the remake because I had some extra BP to use. It’s as convenient as the new pipe hub and the pipe connecting Twilight Town to Creepy Steeple. Especially if you’re like me and tried to do 100% of all the Star Pieces and forgot to swap Ms Mowz.

Always used quick badge as soon as i get it. Being able to switch out partners to quickly adapt to any situation is just way too powerful.

I played so much paper mario thousand year door, Its my jam, I would come bakc each year to play again.

As soon as I saw this badge in my first playthrough of the remake I knew this shit would be busted and I didn't even know about stuff like shell shield or rally wink double charging at that point

I just do powerlift and do mario power smash (hammer move that powerfully damage a foe) and brobbery's 3 bomb things that explode after the opponent next turn for insane damage

You use Quick Change so you can stall buffs I use Quick Change because I always forget to change in the field and I’m never prepared for it until the battle starts We are not the same
