Maker’s was my first experience with whiskey other than Jim Beam Vanilla and I knew instantly that I had found a category that I could explore.

the "ohhh noooo" from Sean and the dead eyes from Dan at 13:24 finding out Makers came in first place was hilarious

That reveal. 😂 We got equally surprised by regular old Maker’s recently as well. And regular old Maker’s just beat Buffalo Kosher Wheat in a blind for Curiosity Public too. Turns out it’s pretty okay bourbon.

I am an Ambassador for Makers, it's been my daily for 25 years. I always go back to Makers, the 101 is tasty along with any cask strength! So glad Dan was floored!

I'm with you. I drank JD for years until it dropped from 86 to 80 proof. Moved to Makers. Now I switch back and forth between it and 1792.

I'm an Ambassador as well. I fell in love with Makers after having the 46. Then branched out from there.

Maker's is under rated because it's so available. 46 is one of my favorite American whiskey's.

Finally Makers getting some respect on its name.

Now I'm going to have to go out and get a bottle of Maker's Mark just to smell the Red Jell-O 😂

I started my bourbon journey with Maker's so I'm glad it won.

Green River is at Costco right now for $33 in the Chicago area

Makers 101 at a local liquor store in Milwaukee is $30 and $34 at Total Wine

I have not drank any Maker’s Mark in years. I picked up the MM BEP and really liked it. Then I found and picked up 2 bottles of MM 46 Cask Strength at a Costco. 46 Cask Strength is very good. Changed my thinking of MM now. 🥃

I had a bad opinion of it for years. Might have been because of its high markup at many mid-tier restaurants. Then I got some at a cold football game and was amazed how nice it was. Figured it was just due to the cold, so I tried it again - nope I actually just like it. Then I tried the special stave releases....and I'm sold. Not one of my TOP bottles but I've completely turned around on MM in general.

almost got me with the larceny bottle shape fact but then I realized it's obviously deliberately shaped like a keyhole

I just picked up a Weller SR for the first time yesterday (so timely video), and I definitely got similar fruity notes on the nose. Not my favorite palate in the world, but the nose was awesome

I just picked up a Makers 750ml for $19.99 at a local grocery store. Good stuff!

Makers 101 at $40 is just good. I'm not a huge Makers fan, but I always have a bottle of 101 and sometimes a store pick. I pour it for friends and they always love it. Love your blinds. Hilarious as always.

Texan here, Weller SR isn't hard to find, but we're not overflowing with it either. Also, we can't buy liquor at the grocery store because freedom or something.

Sometimes, it just hits the pallet differently at different times. I've had bottles where I go back and forth on them from day to day.

totally agree on regular larceny. However, I think the Larceny Barrel Proof is very good.

Makers always delivers, I always thought the brand name became too well known and people dislike it for the underdog effect. The 46, 101, and Cask strength, they are all so damn good!

Nice to see you guys coming around! Whenever I say MM is better than Weller SR, people tell me I am crazy!

I believe this is true of many things, not just whiskey 🥃. People can be label bias, which can then influence the tasting experience.

Just opened my first Gunnar's wheated and oh wow. Really nice. Nice and different. I have the Green River wheated too. Just haven't opened it yet. Appreciate all the good info. You guys make it fun.

Gabby has to come to more of these, there's a little more pep in Sean's step. Haha! Great stuff gentlemen!

Love MM, it was my entry into non Jack or Jim whiskey. For a few bucks more 46 is a fantastic summer easy drinker

Amen to that, they hate on it because it’s popular. It’s basically just a bunch of hipster bourbon snobs that bash it. Makers mark always seems to win in blind testing lol.

My in-laws have blackberry and raspberry plants. So good.

I love the comments putting down MM. There is nothing like blinds to show a name bias. I currently don’t have any Marker’s Mark in my cabinet, but I’m now getting a bottle of cask strength because of this.

Green River Wheated is $29.99 at Costco in Indy right now. Solid deal.

MM Cask Strength and MM 46 Cask Strength and MM 101 are solid. Biggest problem is that you can't have an explosion in craft whiskey if you give MM and the other big distilleries too much love.

Dan join the Makers Dark side. I like 1792 SB better but Makers is solid whiskey. Glad you agree

I actually get the red/strawberry jello but before before it’s set as a solid on Maker’s cask strength. Haven’t had regular except in cocktails though.

When larceny was $17 it got me really liking whiskey. Now for $26 it is hard to buy. I have a pick and a barrel proof which are much better

I love makers... Especially their wood finishing series

I would also recommend Rebel 100, if price is really a consideration.

Old Elk is my current wheated bourbon that I've been drinking. Marker's Mark has become my Old fashioned mixer lol.

We like to think we’re fancy and that we outgrow Makers. The fact is, it’s a well made product. Sometimes we just need to get over ourselves.

Everyone hates Makers until they blind it. Not sure why it draws so much hate. Hard to beat that flavor at 90 proof

It's wild how different MM cask strength is from their standard juice. It's almost as if it isn't just proofed down! CS is _solid._

I blinded larceny a few years ago, it was dead last. Don't even remember what won, just remember how bad larceny was lol.

I’ll take any of them over Weller SR. Paint thinner with a hint of vanilla.

Weller SP and MM finishing series is my favorite for a reason. Don't know what got y'all off the Makers train, but give their special releases and finishing series a honest try in more blinds.

The MM 46 French Oked Cask Strength is hard to beat. It has a red label and I probably shouldn't be telling anyone.

Larceny BP C922 won Whiskey of the Year in 2022. How can Larceny 92PF be that bad ? It's reasonably priced compared to BT Weller Reserve to which I bought once in the last 4 years. I passed on one a couple of weeks ago because store would only allow 1 Allocated Per Customer ! I grabbed the Eagle Rare. Anyways found a Larceny B522 last week on a shelf but was going to pick up the 92 PF which was On Sale. Did the guys report prices on this blind ?

Makers, at least the few bottles I’ve tried, always has the same harshness that stands out. Hard to explain. Not a winner in any category for me, do like their other offerings though. WSR is weak but enjoyable at least.

COVID ruined my palate for wheaters. I used to like them, now; crap. I had some Weller 107 last weekend,,, sadness...

Would love to see Redwood Empire make a wheater and stomp all over these bottles...

There are people who like Makers Mark, and then there are people who say they dont like Makers Mark..... But they really like Makers Mark....

I feel like so much less of an alcoholic hearing someone ELSE describe Maker’s as “gentle,” and “soft.” My wife asked if I was ok when I said similar things to her about Maker’s 😂

Makers 46 cask strength is absolutely delicious right behind it is weller for the wheated department. I had a bottle of green river since I live in the city its made I just supported the company and I didn't like it.. But bourbon is completely opinionated we all don't like the same and that's the beauty of it
