Random: love the dark lighting! I usually watch KZread videos at night so it’s nice to not be blinded by my TV 😂
Over the last 4 years that I've been tracking my reading, I have read 50% exactly in audiobooks which is 261 books. That doesn't include however many audiobooks I DNF'ed out of the total 124 DNF'd books. This year and last year I'm at 48% of my reading being audiobooks by in 2022 I was at 63% audiobooks

Oh my God, picture this: listening to a thriller audiobook while it storms outside...that's the dream, my dude🤩

You can create that effect by opening a tab with a video or audio of a storm (or an ocean wave soundtrack if it's a beach story). I use the sounds of a fireplace and a purring cat sometimes.
Thank you for this!!! With my commute to work I usually have about 1.5 hours per day to dedicate to audiobooks I always need recs 😊
I don’t tend to listen to many audiobooks, but I did listen to Vera Wong's Unsolicited Advice for Murderers based on your recommendation and loved it! I also really liked Vicious and Vengeful, and I’ve just started listening to Red Rising! 🎧

YES Vera Wong is such a good audiobook!!
can i just add boyfriend material by alexis hall, first audiobook i ever listened to and still yet to be beaten it was genuinely perfect the voice matched the writing style SO WELL and all the different voices for the characters were genuinely flawless i could go on
There's a series that I have from audible that has been a favourite set of audios for me for sometime. There have at least 4-5 narrators, music, lifelike sounds etc, they are really excellent. The series is The Imperial Series by M K Eidem, so far there a 4 novels/audiobooks, Cassandra's Challenge, Victoria's Challenge, Jacinda's Challenge, and Stephanie's Challenge. These are a lot of fun to listen to and I also read them and enjoyed. 😄
Love love love this video! I’ll definitely be checking out your recs ☺️ Totally agree with you about Rosamund Pike! I loved her pride and prejudice narration and am now listening to her Wheel of Time audiobooks- top top tier! 30 hours have FLOWN by 😂 I have some more recommendations for anyone interested: Fantasy - the Emperor’s soul - Brandon Sanderson (graphic audio dramatisation-> anything by graphic audio is great) - Red rising - pierce brown (Tim Gerard Reynolds) - Farseer trilogy - Robin Hobb (Paul Boehmer-> controversial but grew on me a lot) - The Dresden files - Jim butcher (James Marsters/AKA spike from buffy) Classics - Jane Eyre - charlotte bronte (Thandiwe Newton) - metamorphosis- franz kafka (Benedict cumberbatch) - 1984 and animal farm - George Orwell (Stephen fry) Memoirs - Educated - Tara westover (Julia Whelan) - Born a crime - Trevor Noah (Trevor Noah) Sorry no romance/romantasy recs- listening to them as audiobooks tends to make the characters too cringeworthy for me, so I stick to reading them 🥲
Super picky about what books I listen to on audio so I appreciate these recommendations!!
I absolutely loved the audio of Strange the Dreamer!! I feel like you should enjoy it no other way!

I looooved the audiobook for Strange the Dreamer too! My fave!!
Omgggg you’re killing it 🎉I freaking love the content totally obsessed 🤩🎧
🎧 I read into the drowning deep, I can’t imagine listening to it 😳 just places Know my name on hold. Another great video thank you! ❤
My most recent audiobooks that I’ve enjoyed are: A Fate Inked in Blood by Danielle L. Jensen Where the dark stands still by A.B Poranek, the cat Jaga! Just listen and you’ll get it! Both I listened on Audible
I literally can’t believe you just posted this when I was searching for a video like this. CANT WAIT TO WATCH
I love audiobooks! I can’t read anymore without them AND the actual book I’m reading
Awesome recs! Thank you. This was jam packed with great tips and I can tell you put a lot of thought and work into this.
One of my favorite audiobook experiences is the book I'm thinking of ending things, by Iain Reid. The book has a twist / reveal and nothing compares to experience that moment on audio. Nothing compares to it.
Know My Name may be the most important book I've ever read
I needed this! Thank you!
Goes straight to Libby... ✌I don't know when it changed in my brain chemistry, but sitting still and reading sometimes takes a little more effort than just cleaning or playing video games while listening to audiobooks. We are trained to be on the go, and always be doing something, I am trying to entrain that out of me. Deadly Education is super good on Audiobook, as well as Illuminae :)
Yes I also loved listening to Sadie, Southern Book Club, and Know My Name! 🎧 Some of my other favorite audiobooks include Daisy Jones and The Six, Finding Me, The Hate U Give, Yellowface, Remarkably Bright Creatures, Lovely War, The Great Alone, The Book Thief, Ace of Spades, The Stationery Shop, and Anxious People!
I love reading sci-fi fantasy books on my kindle device it's a healthy way to escape from the stress of navigating life as an adult.
I love Sadie hands down one of my favorite books everrrrr

OMG Yes...this is so underrated ...it's been 3 yrs since I read it and I still think about it
Hey @MelReads, I think the Witcher narrator you're talking about is Peter Kenny. Although I haven't read any of those books, I know Peter Kenny from Iain Banks' works, which are amazing in their own right, and of course Peter Kenny adds another dimension to them, so if you like his narrating, you should really check out some of Banks' works which he did! Thanks for your recommendations, looking forward to listening to these!
Julia Wheelan is THE narrator! I listen to everything she narrated ❤
I read Chanel Miller’s book on physical and she is incredibly well spoken, incredibly strong woman.

🎧 I LOVED the audiobook of Drowning by TJ Newman, obsessed. The Last Flight i also Loved in audiobook! Both suspense/thriller!
I've been waiting for this video for agesss finally
any taylor jenkins reed audiobook is also amazing (shoutout for daisy jones & the six!)
Your voice is soothing ,clear and concise ❤
Thanks to Spotify premium I can listen to audio books free. Plus, there are popular books on there. For instance, I just started Yellowface!
I never heard of It’s Not About the Burqa, but I’m very interested in reading it now-I love me a good essay collection 😊
Love that you did this video!!! However, I’m not vibing with the lighting lol it’s too dark for my taste but that’s a ME problem lol xo 🫶🏼
I listened to Persuasion and Northanger Abbey on KZread and the narrator for both was 😘👌🏼 She had me talking out loud in response to stuff that was happening as if it was going on right in front of me lol 🎧
Chanel Miller is amazing and so is her book❤
🎧 I can't focus on audiobooks unless the text is right in front of me to follow along. I'd rather read myself, act out some scenes to stay entertained lol. I've listened to 6-7 classics (literally) but that's it. Always find myself wishing for atmospheric audios ya know, with different voices/people for different characters, bgm maybe, like a whole audio-only theatre experience.
The poet X was such an amazing audio!!!
Thanks for the recs 😊 I just had a baby so holding a book and baby is challenging 😂
100% recommend Greenlights
🎧 I haven't listened too much audiobooks yet ! But the one that I was so shockingly surprised was Tom Feltons memoir. 10/10 recommend
I’m still pretty new to audiobooks, I still prefer physical books but there are some I enjoy more as audio such as Raybearer and Redemptor by Jordan Ifueko 🙌 The best YA fanatasy honestly. Cruel Prince by Holly Black series is also great as both physical and audio 👌 For a great essay collection, I loved The Anthropocene Reviewed (by and narrated by John green) and for thriller/mystery I’d recommend In My dreams I hold a knife by Ashley Winstead. Oh also for contemporary YA “Lovelesss” by Alice Oseman
the audiobook for a good girls guide to murder is amazing!!
🎧📚 I just found your channel, yay! I love a great audio book, and the narrator is very important. I loved, Kristen Hannah 's The Nightingale, and The Great Alone. Chefs kiss@
Omg The Diviners series on audio was LIFE
Any audiobook read by Caroline Lee is a great experience!
🎧🎧🎧 Since you like Steve West's narration, then I would recommend checking out Masters of Death by Olivie Blake. Steve West does a really good job with narration as well.
🎧 I struggle with Audiobooks too, not only do I have issues focusing, I struggle to retain the information too. The full cast or dramatized versions work best to counter this.

Me too. I found I have to have the book open as well, and read along. Otherwise I get totally distracted even when it's like an audioplay.

@ravent3016 Omgee, me too. Apparently, it's called immersion reading. Sometimes, I do a mixture. I read 2-4 chapters as audiobooks, then 2-4 chapters in the physical or ebook than switch. I do this less with the dramatized/graphic or full cast books. Otherwise, it takes me more to finish an audiobook than the book/ebook. 😆
I would also highly recommend the audiobook for The Vanished Birds by Simon Jimenez. Also anything by Akwaeke Emezi. I’m currently reading their memoir Dear Senthuran.
🎧 I love a good audiobook.
I don't listen to a lot of audio, but I really enjoyed Even Though I Knew the End. 🎧🎧🎧
I’m sending you love❤❤❤
What is the most difficult book you have read, but are happy you read it?
I’m going to listen to the first book you recommended , it sounds fantastic! Thank you. P.s. I lived in Hawaii for five years and didn’t go in the ocean as much as other people. Right now I live in California right next to the beach, but I rarely go in the ocean. I’m sure this will terrify me!

As a Muslim viewer I wasn’t expecting to hear “it’s not about the burqa”… even I’ve never heard of this book, definitely going to give it a read x ❤
🎧 the audiobook to It by Stephen King gave me chills ngl haha I remember having to stop doing whatever I was doing to sit bc I was scared hahahaha the way Pennywise's voice sounded... the narrator is too good at their job 🤡
Audible better snatch you up! ❤🎧❤
🎧Great list of audiobooks, definitely added some to my list! Check out Long Way Down by Jason Reynolds, it’s read by the author and it is super short,3-4 hrs, but unbelievably powerful. Highly recommend that one!!
WHY DID I NOT READ THE TIM CURRY VERSION OF DRACULA WHAT!!!! I MESSED UP 😭

Don't bother with the audiobook for The Twyford Code. While the narrator is a smooth reader, the main character speaks in dialect, and the narrator doesn't do any accents or any voice acting for the different speakers on the tapes (the book has these transcripts telling the story). I thought from the book format that the audio would perhaps enhance the reading of the physical book, but after a few chapters, I went to the book only. So a waste of money.
I personally would not recommend listening to Lord of the Rings.. the poetic singing verses are nice when reading, but since the melody was so repetitive and dull.. I would found myself cursing when the character sings again TT (Don’t get me wrong the narrator had great voice overs and he’s not tone deaf, and I’m a musical nerd … but the singing in this book is just… beware 🫡)
The House in the cerulean sea is the best audiobook I’ve ever listened to
This vid is such perfect timing with Spotify Premium now including Audiobooks! Thank you Mel!🥰

I had to DNF the audiobook of A Very Private School by Charles Spencer. The author narrated very personably, but the subject matter was too triggering for me - pedophilia and physical beatings by a sadist.
I am very new to audiobooks, but I recommend Mariah Carey and Will Smith Books, and I just finished The Arrangement.
