    I started doing Devon's pronation exercise with the band over my knuckles. I was barely able to lift 20 kg in December 2022 when I started. Now i can do 30 kg with ease. I am not sure, however, how this increase in strength will translate on the table though. I dont have a training partner, all my simps and buds dont want to pull with me 😢

    well, you have a biomechanical advantage for anything arm power related, the trouble is gaining access to your arm power. What a long arm guy can do against a short arm guy, to not lose his wrist in a fight?

  • @Pepe-pq3om

    @Pepe-pq3om

    9 ай бұрын

    It's not as simple as short arm guy hook and long arm guy toproll, in the end it comes down to strength. Something a longer arm dude could do is bait the opponent into coming foward to force a hook, but instead of shooting back in a toproll, time a press just as they come forward to catch you, watch Devon Larrat vs Todd Hutchings at WAL after round 2 and you will understand. You can kings move if you happen to lose the wrist, and of course, train wrist flexion and rising, at the end of the day it comes down to strength

  • @christopherjohnblack3526
    @christopherjohnblack35269 ай бұрын

    But where's the cupping aspect? There's no cupping in either of these two variations. We are taught that cupping is number 1 most important and pronation is 2nd. By this logic, shouldn't a static bicep lift with a wrist wrench (similar to the ones shown in the video, but only supinated) be the best exercise?

  • @Pepe-pq3om

    @Pepe-pq3om

    9 ай бұрын

    I would argue that pronation is more important than cupping since not matter what you are doing in the table, pronation will always be there, there are plenty of example of athletes who are fine pulling without their wrist. Is not that cupping isn't important tho, train both

  • @christopherjohnblack3526

    @christopherjohnblack3526

    @@Pepe-pq3om I do train both. Yet it is confusing as to which to believe; John Brzenk said it's cupping, the other guy said it's rising, another says it's pronation. Tbh, I focused a lot on cupping and still get defeated with lacking pronation strength. I'm inclined to believe that cupping and pronation are equal to each other in importance.

  • @Pepe-pq3om

    @Pepe-pq3om

    9 ай бұрын

    @@fxpascal4399 It really depends, if you high hook or use a hook where you still attack the hand like John Brzenk, pronation still is really important. I im primarily a hook puller and my best weapon is my pronation. Tell me if I'm wrong, but I think the only techniques where pronation doesn't matter is a fully supinated hook (even in this case, you can still attack through the thumb with pronation or simply to contain the opponents ability to get a deeper grip after you stablish the hook with supination) or in a shoulder roll

  • @Pepe-pq3om

    @Pepe-pq3om

    9 ай бұрын

    @@christopherjohnblack3526 It doesn't really matter wich one is more important since both are priorities and you should be training both, as for wich one is more important: it really depends on technique. Of course a guy who primarily toproll for example will say pronation is more important, and a guy who primarily tries to force other into a hook will say it's cupping. I think the reason for John thinking cupping is more important is because he has a huge thumb, so it's like if his pronation strength was buffed by 1.5x, so it never was a problem for him

    Dont compare armwrestling with martial arts Armwrestling is way way more technical than armwrestling Because in martial arts there r certain boundaries in which one can offense But in armwrestling there r more than 20 ways in which one can offense Defense clarity is quite bad in marial arts For martial arts one only needs sparring But for armwrestling one needs sparring as well as weight training In armwrestling its a type of quite confusing Cuz in armwrestling if one techniques cuts other techniques then the same cutted technique can cut the same other technique which is cutting the technique probably if performed in a different manner Where as in martial arts for cutting one technique u need a whole other technique Thats the beauty of armwrestling
