More recommendations that haven't been added. Sidenote:I've recently finished stuff like Fight Club and Breaking Bad and some of these anime actually hold up in certain categories. Basically, they're fucking amazing. Neon Genesis Evangelion: Very philosophical and breaks the 4th wall. The characters are intentionally litered with some basic anime troupes to be annoying due to how much the author despises them. Obiviously there's still depth to them,but keep in mind if you're repulsed by a certain troupe, it's 100% intentional. Monster: The Breaking Bad of anime. Arguebly the best antagonist in all of anime and has some great writing. Basically any historical event or concept it's inspired by is fairly accurate. It's dialogue and characters are also very realistic. Accompany that by amazing OSTS and you've got a masterpiece. Vinland Saga: Surprisingly historically accurate. Obviously it switched up some things in order to be unique and not just a simple repeat of History. Mixes in some interesting philosophical ideas and is really well-written. The animation isn't the most consistent due to the fact that Wit was working on Attack on Titan at the time,but it's still pretty darn good. Serial Experiments Lain: It's very obscure and the first half might be hard to get through. Trust me, it's worth it. That's about it. Bye!!

for Action, I would Recommend Mo Dao Zu Shi. As It is an engaging anime and It even has a Live-action which i love❤

Death Note is definitely a good recommendation to start with, I introduced my gf to anime with it and she got hooked. It's so cool that there are so many great series in the anime backlog nowadays. Been watching anime for decades, got introduced by Sailor Moon without knowing as a kid but when I truly got into anime my first ever series was Hikaru No Go and Dragon Drive and have been hooked ever since. But nowadays there is so many great series to choose from.

SAIKI K IS MY CHILDHOOD, my brother doesn’t like anime but he loves Saiki K so you know it’s good :)

My first anime was My Dress Up Darling this convinced me to finish it😅

I remember when I was relatively new to anime, not even reading descriptions and watching whatever I liked the name/picture of.. "This thing called I want to eat your pancreas has a funny name, has to be fun right?" 😂😂
