I really love how transparent James is with sponsored material. Not only disclosing that a product he mentioned was sponsored once, but also saying some of the links in description are affiliate links. This should be the gold standard for all influencers online! Thank you James for respecting your viewers 💖

I appreciate James has actual ethics! But consumer expectations are so low, brands will manipulate this. Reviews & comments are nothing vs purchasing power. We CAN change this, by refusing to order thru channels that are not clear about the money flow, & by refusing to buy from brands that work with shady influencers. I do extra love that James understands the psychology of sales and inverts it (mentioning the expense immediately so we can skip or harden our hearts to it), whereas many of the influencers who are very genuine-seeming & talk up ethics are covertly using every manipulative technique in the book to get commissions. beware people who “cave” on low buys a lot, people who cover every big new release, or people who talk up the sensory & psychological experience of a luxury product & intentionally misrepresent self-care, which is not something you can purchase. Or anyone doing “clean” but that’s obvious nowadays I think.

James, 8:00 is honestly the reason I subscribe to you. I'm glad you don't fearmonger over skincare ingredients in all of your videos, because a lot of those ingredients are harmless to a lot of people, or maybe they're only not suitable for certain skin types or for people who are allergic. So much of beauty and skincare KZread is full of fearmongering, but your videos are a breath of fresh air. Keep up the great videos!

Ahh I’ve been waiting for you to talk about the Purito Centella SPF! I bought it on a slight whim when I needed to try a new SPF that would work with the ingredients I have in my makeup routine. I was persuaded by you talking about the serum from the same centella line, I knew it wouldn’t be the same but the other reviews online in combination to that gave me trust. It is so so lightweight and yet gives a nice hydrating cling for my makeup. I feel as though I don’t have all these layers of skincare and makeup on my face when in fact, I do! It’s helped with my morning redness since my skin is so reactive to me touching it, even gently rinsing with water gets it worked up. Helping out the redness I normally get means I’m also applying less foundation and concealer in an attempt to mask it before I leave the house. My makeup routine is so much easier and softer with it and it makes me look so dewy and fresh but not greasy. I could easily mistake it for a lightweight moisturiser but it still hydrated those dry patches I struggle with. Before making the switch I was originally using the Bondi Sands 50+ face spf. It did work for me and left me with a nice finish but I really struggled to avoid eye sting. I wouldn’t say it was greasy for me but it could some days be a little too shiny and slippy for my makeup to agree with, or even to leave the house without makeup. My friend deals with rosacea and I have recommended to him to try this spf as he will avoid it usually, currently waiting to see how it works for his skin.

A couple years ago, I switched to locally made goats milk soap. In my experience, the more amateur the packaging, the higher the % of actual goats milk. They are only $4 each but soap seems to get used up much faster than body wash, even with a good drying system. I don’t want to calculate how much soap I’ve bought vs same amount of body wash lol. But I do skip lotion - even in our very cold, dry winters, I only need lotion every other day, so it’s money well spent lol! The lady moved to North Dakota & said she’d send more product to the place I buy it, but it’s been two years so I just bought up all the oatmeal & honey soaps and a few other scents, and now have about 5 years of really good soap lol.

I bought the Purito Sun Lotion a couple of weeks ago. The first few days I was so happy with it, because it didn't cause a reaction. Usually 8 out of 10 times I buy skincare it ends up in the bin because my skin would flare up. And unfortunately on day 3 my skin was burning after the Purito Sun Lotion (also, I only used that for skincare, so no other products were beings dicks). My skin was burning, red spots everywhere. So for those who want to buy it but have a similar super sensitive skin type just like I do.. don't buy it. Do you have any advice on trying to figure out what ingredient is making me break out? I thought it was stearic acid at first but there’s products I’ve used that have it and have been ok for me

Both my recent hit and shit are peptide serums. The hit is Geek&Gorgeous Power Peptides. The shit, and I was really surprised by that considering my good experience with the brand, was Paula's Choice Peptide booster - broke me out horribly

Would the naturium barrier bounce work under spf? I need a lighter moisturizing product some days but must have urea & occlusion nonetheless. I love my spf but it’s just a humectant moisturizer base, it doesn’t do any occlusion work.

I also had an adverse reaction to The Ordinary lip balm and had to apply prescription ointment to calm the irritation. I waited so long for their line to introduce a lip balm but sadly this was a total fail.

Cruelty free testing: while human volunteers are sometimes used, I just looked it up & there are two other options - cultured tissue (like lab meat but for cosmetic tests) and donated human tissue. Some other sources referenced that eye irritancy testing may be done on eye tissue harvested from agricultural “waste,” which at least means that an animal sold for meat was able to also provide tissue for testing which does reduce animal harm in the industry, but it seemed like that does not count as cruelty free. However, there may be a distinction between cruelty free & vegan in that regard. If a person eats meat, tho, I certainly hope they realize using “waste product” is a big improvement & a great way to maximize the impact of each animal. It’s good for business AND ethics.

James, this is random but I was checking out the Experiment lip balm cause of you, but I'm dying to know how you feel about the Experiment Super Saturated serum. Any chance you'll be reviewing that as well? I don't wanna get it without your approval! lol

so i have heard the word slugging before but if you could explain what the word means that would be so amazing, i use murad and milk face cleanser and a few other things that i got fortunate enough to get in a beauty box and they work well for my face.

Is there anyone with tips for products for little bumps on the back of the arms, on your back, razor bumps etc? Preferably K-Beauty because in Europe it's accessible too. Also important that i do have somewhat sensitive skin, nothing too crazy. Thank you in advance! 🤗

It seems logical that cruelty-free and vegan would mean the same thing, but in fact they are two different things. Cruelty free is not tested on animals, but may still contain animal products, while vegan means it doesn't contain animal products. Personally I think Vegan should automatically preclude animal testing, but I've seen a lot of brands claim a Vegan label while still testing on animals for sale in China.
