Isn't it strange how we admire and embrace the Roman Empire especially the occupation of Britain. 2000 years later we still preserve and, in many cases, make use of their innovations. Mention the British Empire and everyone wants to string us up with piano wire.

You’re right that Baby chinos are intended for kids so they don’t feel left out while their parents have a coffee. They are cheap because the idea is that if the kids are happy then the parents stay and spend money on other stuff.

Do you know, you can use your hand as a basic map of London? Hold out your left hand , palm up. The River Thames flows along the base of your thumb to pinky finger and your digits are the bridges. Your thumb is Westminster Bridge ( Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, Buckingham Palace ). Your index finger is Waterloo Bridge ( Covent Garden, National Gallery , Brits Museum). Middle finger is Blackfriars Bridge ( St Pauls Cathedral ). next finger is London Bridge ( City of London ) and your pinky finger is Tower Bridge ( Tower of London ) - look, if you lift your pinky finger, you make Tower Bridge open and close ! Ok, admit if you did that ! All the best, Peter

Construction of the present Saint Paul's Cathedral, in the City of London, began in 1675, nine years after the Great Fire, and was (more-or-less) complete by 1710, during the reign of Queen Anne. That's why the statue at the front of the cathedral is of Anne. Fourth cathedral on the site, the first being Anglo-Saxon and dating from 604AD. All four have stood on the site of a Roman temple dedicated to Diana, goddess of the hunt. It's said Diana Spencer wished to marry with Prince Charles at Saint Paul's rather than Westminster Abbey because of the association with the Roman goddess but whether or not that is fact is anyones' guess.

It was the parish church of Shakespeare for the whole of his life in London and his brother is buried there. Also, there is a small chapel dedicated to the Harvard family ( of University fame ) who originated from that area. Every day is a school day !

I will tell you what happened, as someone who has a Girlfriend living less than one mile from Borough Market and I am from The Elephant, originally.I lived over East Lane (Street) Market, Walworth for 28 years, less than 2 miles away..lol Firstly I had never heard of The Sky Garden and saw "The Oldest Market" sign in the next bit assuming I hadn't seen that either without really watching that segment ,not knowing that it was The Borough Market,, which I haven't visited for years was the one in question , so I,mistakenly, said that. I DID realise my mistake and wanted to erase this schoolboy error but could not remember on which one of 12 videos this morning that I have commented on, it was on , so I hoped no-one would notice :)

The building (20 Fenchurch Street) where the Skygarden is located was accidentally melting people's cars a few years ago. Because all the glass is concave, it reflected & concentrated the sun onto cars parked at the roadside like a giant magnifying glass, distorting the metal panels and melting plastic parts. It had to be fitted with special sun shades about 6 years ago to stop it happening. Oops!

Grahamhg My friend works in a new build where the roof blew off and was hanging over the side of the building. The windows that are supposed to open can't be opened as the hinges are too weak to support them. And the walls bend when you push them. As for the bridge, I remember the architect saying that the bridge was designed to bounce. Maybe he was just trying to cover his lack of foresight that people may wish to walk over it in groups instead of one at a time.

London has better air quality than some other big cities and this is still somehow considered a London thing. And also remember that applies for centre of London only, if people were to explore outer London a bit more and in fact, other parts of England, they'd know England better. I feel for tourists who think London is the only thing in England when its population makes up only 1/8 of the whole country.
