Melody and Truly Me #25 are such great starter dolls! I agree with so many points you made in this video, and yeah, I think that getting a doll like Caroline as a first doll definitely doesn't always work out. Some of my first dolls were Rebecca and Saige, and while Rebecca's hair is fine, Saige's is unable to be salvaged. Anyways, this was a really great and helpful video and I would definitely recommend this video to beginning collectors!💖💕

My first AG doll was Chrissa, but I was 40 years old. :) My daughter's first was a Bitty Baby which was definitely a good choice for a 5 year old.

Love it ! 24 and 13 was our first doll ! Tm 13 is so easy to take care of ... even with the bangs! We just got Maryellen and she is so under rated! Her copper hair is so beautiful!!!

#25 is my first doll and I have had her for 6 years! She is pretty much in perfect condition. Also Melody is so gorgeous and great for anyone.

I got Caroline as my 3rd doll when I was 5 and it was a BIG mistake! My first two were pleasant company molly and Samantha and I should have been more careful( but I was two😂) I agree with u soooo much!

My first dolls were 22 and 60. I had just taken down my 89 doll’s hair down. She has beautiful waves. But some of her hair has fallen out and I am very careful with her hair. Somehow that happens with a new doll. But, I will keep my eye out on her. I’ve had defective dolls that lost a lot of hair. I am an adult collector and older. So, I know the difference.

my first doll was GOTY 2014, Isabelle!! she’s amazing, and my second doll is #25, which is awesome. they both are sooo easy to take care of!

Amazing video! I thought this was a great video! I totally agree with everything you said except for Julie I think her hair is very hard to maintain. My first doll was My American Girl 13. I got her when I was 6 or 7, so she was supposed to be my look-alike (she isn't anymore). The brown straight medium length hair is super easy to take care, though she doesn't have any special features. But, the bangs!!! I love her bangs!!! Anyways, awesome video! :)

Julie has always been easy for me since her hair is very straight. I’ve had her for 7 years in June and her hair is still very soft.

Juniper is looking so good! As you probably know my first doll was Kit so probably the easiest doll ever to take care of.

I got felicity first because she was one of my dream dolls since im a red head who loves historical stuff and now my second doll marie grace is payed for and I cant wait to get her

You forgot Kit Kittredge. She is an awesome beginner doll. There are many on the secondary market as well. Her hair is sooo cute.

Great video! My first doll was Lea... big mistake! Her hair is horrible now because I was kinda young when I got her I guess you could say and so I completely ruined her hair haha! I’m glad you said that melody’s hair is easy to take care of because I always thought it wasn’t just because it’s textured. I really like Melody and I think she’s so cute I do really want her so maybe I’ll eventually get her!

Before I got my first doll(Luciana) I watched a LOT of videos on how to take care of AG dolls so she is in perfect condition :)

Happy to see Melody on this list! I have her and agree she is an excellent Beginner doll, very low-maintenance and pretty.

My first doll was Marie-Grace, and I do have to admit I did not take care of her as I should've. I brushed out her curls until they were frizzy and at the time, I didn't know using a plastic comb or brush would damage a dolls hair, so the bottom half of her hair was a wreck. Then one day I decided to do a makeover... and cut a few inches off... I also left her in the sun for a bit too long and now I have to add some more color to her lips in post-processing, lol.

Kit...she is a super first AG doll. She has always been very popular and her hair requires little to no upkeep :)

kit and ruthie were my first dolls! kit is sooo good for a first doll, ruthie is okay but not the best. my next dolls after that were caroline, marie grace, and cecile. not the best idea for a five year old 😂😂

My first doll was #24 (the one in my profile picture) and I totally messed up her curls, but I’ve slowly been reviving them. Great video!

I used to have a 25 and usually I love them except mine had permapanties and I couldn’t get over that for some reason. Yours in a bucket hat is making me miss her though lol. Maybe I’ll rebuy her someday. 💛

I feel like Julie isn’t a great first doll because she was actually my 10th doll and her hair became SUPER frizzy easily , same with Kaya but not as bad. Other than that this is a great list!

I got tenny when I was 6 or 7 I was very young but I took good care of her I had my mom brush her hair but that time we did not know we need there brush and I brushed her hair if my brush ! So her hair is a mess all the time !

I have Addy, her hair is gorgeous.

Isabelle the girl of the year 2014 was my first doll and I got her when I was 4 and shes still in really good condition! I did get 2 really tight curl dolls even when I older it’s extremely hard to take care of it!

My first doll was Courtney and i didnt know anything about AG dolls so I literally brushed through her hair and now it’s permanently damaged :(

My 1st AG doll was a #22...but my 2nd one was a Julie & my third one was a #25. They’re still in pretty good condition though they’ve needed fixing up over the years. But I definitely agree with these recommendations!

Samantha was my first, handed down to me from my mom. She was my mom's first and only.

My first doll was Grace and I got her for my 10th birthday in 2015. I cut her hair in 2016 and I replaced her head in 2019. My second and third doll is also recked but I stopped playing with them a year after I got Lea. I started playing with them in 2019 and I got Luciana, she has perfect hair but it took years to actually learn how to take care of their hair. Here is my dolls list: Grace ( og heads hair was cut and was recked but new head is in perfect condition) Mary Ellen (recked hair) Lea ( recked hair and a scar on her face from the hair pick) Luciana Joss Molly

I have 25 (my lookalike) i love her! She is the best doll to take on trips because her hair wont mess up easily. Also something very important is to spray your dolls hair before brushing it, otherwise the dolls hair will get dry and frizzy over time (i know that from experience 😬)

Great vid! I have to say I do take care of my dolls pretty well. I have truly me #59, #69, and I also have GOTY Kira Bailey. My parents said I can only have ONE more doll “and after that one thats it.” And all the dolls I have are white skin tone dolls and I was concerning getting GOTY Gabriella because she is a black doll but as I am new to getting dolls I don’t know if this doll would be the best option because of her hair being to hard to take care of, but then again this would be my LAST doll I’m I’m just thinking that in the future I will probably want a curly hair doll. What would your opinion be on this situation? P.s. #59 was also my first Ag doll and BELIEVE ME I know how hard #59 is to do hair styles on!😅

There are a few dolls with darker skin who's hair is easy to maintain such as Melody, 47 etc, so maybe get one of those dolls? Also when I was younger my parents were like "no more dolls" but I pay for all of my current dolls with my own money, so they can't tell me to stop!
