Purpose of doing this is certainly not to keep a log. I'm not necessarily anti-log, kept one for years, but my main purpose of doing this is to meet new folks with similar interests to mine. Great video by the way, very helpful.

Here are the two most important things you need to know: If you key up a talkgroup, it will be activated as auto-static. As long as you don't key up a different talkgroup, the auto-static talkgroup will not time out and you'll remain linked to it until you manually disconnect from it (drop it). To cleanly disconnect from an auto-static talkgroup, make a group call to TG 4000.

@@TheCubby1010 No it is NOT static. It is dynamic. Big difference!

Kerchunking shouldn't be needed on static talk groups.

You may use analog if you can reach him without a hotspot.

Very good vid.... looking at the Rugged spot .... no digital repeaters in my area. Just passed the General but not yet ready to make the home structural decision to go HF just yet. So DMR seemed like the next best thing for now!One BIG question.... on DMARC.... does one need to send the 4000 dial in code to disconnect from a Talk Group? Can’t seem to to get a solid answer on this? Thanks again..... KI5NEK..... “Out”.

Hi Gerhard, you do still need to the 4000 dial in code to disconnect from a Talk Group.

Why do you need to use your voice to id in this digital relm, but not others? You don't id when sending packets over the green cube, or ft8, why this? Also, it's very common to change the phonetic names when speaking to people in different languages. Japanese for example never seem to be able to understand Delta of Victor, but they pick up on Denmark and Victoria. They don't understand Alpha, but came make out America. This sounds a bit preachy.

Voice ID is just a way of staying in practice of IDing ever 10 minutes. It also gives your contact a way of knowing who is calling when they can't see the screen. I don't look down at my mobile while driving.

@@BridgeComSystemsInc He asked the question here, and there are others that would like to read a possible answer here. Someone like me does not have facebook. I would just answer instead of playing games, sending people to other sites for clicks.
