    A tip for anyone looking for durable large soft plastic swimbaits look into the z-man Mag swimz, larger diesel minnowz, heroz, and the xl streaks. I have been using Z-mans large plastics to fish for musky(with there special keeper style hooks). You can get 3 7" diesel minnowz for 7$, 3 8" mag swimz for 9.99$, etc. Cheap for the amount of baits you get and ultra durable Z-man elaztech.

    I know people like Tranx reels but for now I'm going with a Piscifun Torrent 2 in the 200 size,I know people might think they are just cheap reels but I have Shimano and Lew's but i really like Piscifun and the Tranx has a 13 lbs drag but the Piscifun has 20lbs and its $50 very smooth reel, now I'm not saying don't go buy the Shimano Tranx but if you can't afford an expensive reel right now the Torrent 2 is a good choice until you save enough to buy an expensive one, and at least it will get you on the water but after you use it you might change your mind!

    Sixgill is another rod you may want to look into. The "Brute" series comes in 3 weight throwing ranges and they are $169 and have a lifetime warranty. To make it even sweeter, they have Bogo sales several times a year, bringing the rod cost down to only $85 each. They also make reels, but do not have any reels suitable for swimbaits though. Just a bargain FYI.

    An advice for people. Use cheap hooks and really strong split rings line and leader like close to 100lb. A Bass or Pike is not going to damage or bent any hook because they don't have strengh to bend hooks even the bigger ones. But if you don't want to lose a expensive lure when you throw a big fish or get tangle in the rocks or a branch you prefer a hook bent and broke than a expensive lure in the lake.

    My only larger swimbait is a mike bucca 5” bullshad I got for Christmas. No bass on it yet but I did get a 48” tiger musky on it last weekend. Also trying soft plastic Zman swimmers (6”) and mag swimmerz (8”). No luck on those either. Starting to think I’m actually not a very good bass fisherman. 🤣

  • @Jon-nz3dm

    @Jon-nz3dm

    Patrick Fahie here’s a tip: Zman swimbaits kinda suck. The tails don’t even kick at slow retrieve speeds. I suppose in summer when you’re giving it some gas that doesn’t matter so much and the durability is handy.

  • @patrickfahie8671

    @patrickfahie8671

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@brendanspencer2550 I think bullshad are good for musky, excellent action. That being said, I have not caught another fish on my bull shads since the tiger. I just picked up a pack of dreamsmasher softbaits, they look absolutely amazing. They have a great wobble as well as the tail kick. Definitely going to be my main lure next time I’m out musky hunting. Here in eastern pa, musky can be hard to come by. Threw the dreamsmasher a couple minutes at a little pond to see the action and it was better than I could hope for. My regular bullshad are almost topwater, hoping to fish the dreamsmasher lower in the water column, maybe even drag the bottom.
