I own the 20 gun TS20-30 version of this safe. For those complaining about the quality...its not a $4000 safe...it's not a bank vault...you people have a keen sense of the obvious. Most thieves aren't going to spend the time to try and break in the safe and its too heavy for them to quickly and easily carry it out of your house. I also have a alarm system and a 90lb German Shepard for added piece of mind. My guns are also insured. For under $500...they are hard to beat.

Most thieves will spend the whole 2 minutes to pry open that pile of upholstered crap, because you have guns in it.

I have this same safe. I like it very much and if you buy the second shelf, which I got for $50 from the manufacturer, this can be an 18 gun safe. Especially if you are good at Tetris.

It's a great safe I had problems with the combation but it was my fault the girl at Winchester straightened right out

The safe is on sale at TSC for $349 right now

I think they are good for keeping stuff safe and secure. If someone really had the time and equipment it can probably be cut into after a while but would still be a hard task

Get longer bolts for securing your safe to the floor. 3 or 3.5 inch tapcon screws for concrete are my choice

So I’ve been in the market for a safe for roughly a year now. And you’re right most saves around this price range are cheap generic non-fireproof safes.

Got one of these safes for my overflow arsenal .Can the door be adjusted to eliminate any loose fitting when it it locks? My door rattles a bit if you push on it . Otherwise, I'm very satisfied with the Winchester safe !

Fits about 4 to 5 rifles with optics…maximum. You can fit 50 pistols. Those door slots will stop the door from closing. Ok for the $.

curious how easy I could move the safe around at the weight though. I need to get it up stairs is the problem. this is the best price for what you get it seems.

Upstairs ummm prob not super easy. Brought it in the house using a hand truck / dolly with one stair. If it’s carpeted stairs u could use the hand truck and roll it backwards one step at a time with it strapped to it and someone spotting from bottom. It’s not super heavy but still heavy enough

Just be aware that the sheet metal is no thicker than your standard metal gun cabinets. This safe will only temporarily delay a determined person with the right tools from accessing your firearms. If you just need a gun cabinet with a fire protection rating and to keep children and house guests safe from accidents this one will get the job done

@@stever1244 I agree, good to deter or slow somebody down but that’s about it. I’m thinking about getting this safe and bolting something heavy to the bottom since I can’t bolt it to my apartment floor. But at the end of the day I have renters insurance and it’s not worth it for me to buy a $2,000+ safe.

@@DamnGoodReviews safe that uses 11 or even better 10 ga steel. This safe uses 14 ga steel.

What about the security of the safe? Most do these inexpensive safes offer almost no protection from the side and back panels. The doors are thick but the sides can be drilled or cut thru with a better operated grinder or sawzall in seconds.

Not planning on trying that but I’m sure others that focus just on safes may have. I am guessing it’s all about the gauge of the steel and truly what kinda of security you are looking for. Just to keep things locked up and safe from others (everyday) or Fort Knox security and worries of someone pulling a heist in your 12-gun safe are totally different needs. Let us know if you end up with one that meets your needs!! Would love to hear your feedback

Honestly if you’re buying a $500 safe, I’m assuming you’re not worried about being the victim of a full blown heist where people are targeting you for your guns. If a random breaks into your house, he most likely won’t have any tools on him that will cut through it. I think it’s safe to say that if you’re buying this type of safe you only have a handful of guns & you just want them out of reach from the kids & just want your guns/ammo in the same place with a little bit of security.

This thing came with 3 keys? I thought it only came with 1? This is definitely on the top of my list.

It was a shock for sure!

The keypad will fail and Winchester won’t stand behind it. That’s what happened to me. Try doing a search of the keypad not working. There’s tons of videos on there for a reason.

Any reasons into why they are failing?

Do you have to remove the bottom pallet stand? Is it more secure? I cannot bolt it to the ground so I’m not factoring that in.

If you can’t bolt it down and want it a little higher I guess you could keep the metal stand. That stand is heavy duty enough for sure

Can you please remove the four screws on the interior of the door and upload a picture somewhere? I don't own the TS20-12 but the TS12-30 and TS26-45 both suffer from a major bypass vulnerability. Looking at your review it seems that (36 seconds in) this safe also has the very wide hole where the cable runs through. I'm curious just how many of these safe models WinchesterSafe's has created with this gaping vulnerability. Any pics would help!

Yes, you would need to run the wire out the bottom where the shipping bolt holes are.

I just got a redfield 24 gun safe at academy for 680, seems better built than this winchester safe & its fireproof rated

YOU ARE BEYOND INCORRECT. That thing can be pried open ,with a 12" flat bar, in 1.5 minutes. You have a box to keep your kids out of. after mine was pried open, and the tool left behind, and the thousands of dollars I lost, and Winchesters demand for a police report for warranty. Pictures and serial number were not good enough. I wouldnt secure dog food in that painted box. the weight is sheetrock inside tinfoil.

The key pad will go out and stop working none last more than 6 months.
