Be grateful for what you have, who you are. Decluttering really helps calming the mind, feeling free and seeing clearly how life can be so simple and beautiful... less is more and we can be happy right here and right now

I have been married for soon to be 10 years. We have not purchased a home so in these 10 years we have moved 5 times. I surprise myself with how much I let go of things everytime I pack! My issue is that I am the issue. I consume too many things and I need to change that. I buy things to give me something to do and just use shopping as a form of entertainment.

Getting rid of fb and IG minimized my mental clutter. I put up less pictures (don’t want to live in the past) but just a couple nice pics. Keep surfaces clear and clean. I just moved and that makes it toooo much easier. I downsized and most of the boxes haven’t even been opened after 4 months since the move. I enjoy this validating video!

Same. I only use KZread now. I even decluttered my friends in life. I now only have one. But that's whatever to me. I'm just focusing on me and getting my life together. I just got out of a three year relationship so I'm basically starting from the ground up again. I'll be okay though, I'll be okayyy.

I learned while decluttering that it's okay to declutter old gifts from friends and family that I don't use anymore. I had so much stuff when I moved out from my parents house. After a while so much stuff was adding up in some places like the attic. Then I looked at my living room where there was nearly no clutter at all and realized that friends who gave me decoration items were in my living room and still I had so much old decorations at the attic, so I decided to declutter that stuff. I talked to my friends about those old decorative items and just told that I decluttered all of that stuff and they said it was the right choice. I was scared they would be dissappointed, but they weren't. Then I realized that it was my own state of mind that hold me back for a very long time.

People around me are constantly talking about what they « need » and « don’t have » but I’ve noticed I really have like everything I need. Thanks for pointing that out for me!!

You are so right from the beginning. I have always been a tidy person, but after I had two children close in age my surroundings got ahead of me and I kind of lost it. Or lost myself within 3 extra peoples stuff. It took about 5/6 years of depression and anxiety daily to realize I felt that way around the clutter and clean simple spaces help me to relax. I am now year 3 into downsizing and declutter/purging and I feel so much better. This year has been the most successful yet. I just need to get my family of tiny hoarders on board> LOL

“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? 27 And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?[a] 28 And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, 29 yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.” Jesus said very well about minimalism! Matthew 6

Hi Meghan, happy to meet you! Thanks for your great videos! I have recently approached minimalism because my home is also my workplace and I have a lot of work materials that take up a lot of space in all the rooms of the house, not just the laboratory. I feel suffocated and I'm trying to reorganize the spaces. Many things will go in the garbage can! I have a serious problem with the kitchen equipment, I realized that I have toO MANY THINGS that I often use only if I prepare dinners for friends or if our parents come to visit us. Because of the intense work then I do not always wash the dishes immediately after the meal so in a short time the kitchen becomes a mess. I thought of placing the extra crockery and pots we need for when we have guests in a box, and keeping only the bare essentials for my and my husband's meals in the kitchen cabinets, so I will have no more excuses and I will always have to wash the two plates and the few cutlery we use. What do you think about it? I don't feel like throwing everything away (something yes) and getting the guests to eat in compostable disposable dishes. Thanks, dear!

I just started decluttering my home and it feels great to not have to look for 20 minutes for something to wear that fits and matches with other things and looks good and makes me feel good, and all the paper piles are gone that were literally all over the house from junk mail and just stuff we didn't know what to do with, and it is becoming a more relaxing place to be at home and I can actually calm down and meditate and do yoga like I've wanted to for a couple years now, and it's just an amazing and freeing difference.

We don't necessarily need the pillows, but minimalism also involves having items that you enjoy or make use of. :-) I happen to really like my pillows, especially my blue one; they add value to my life through visual appeal and sometimes we use them as cushions in various ways as we don't have a couch here in our tiny apartment.

I see the benefits of minimalism - less clutter, less material attachment, etc. But honestly I'm so sick of these videos. I feel like most of these minimalism videos glorify an asthetic "perfectionist life" type of attitude that is not realistic. Life is messy, it is not perfect. Your hair and makeup don't have to be perfect, your house doesn't always have to be spotless. You don't always have to be in a chipper mood. Shit, let people be human.

How can you advertise minimalism when you actually advertise things and stuff on your channel for people to buy?
