I was beginning to think I was delusional---this song has been bouncing around my aging brain for a couple weeks. I tried searching for it by the lyrics, but all I got was "new" stuff. I finally found this one when I entered "Do Wop--Tell Me Why". I was just a little kid when this song was popular, but it definitely left me with a fond memory. A "feel good" song!

I'm with you. I heard this song years ago then forgot about it. A few months ago I had this vague sense this existed while listening to another old song, then I found it again by chance!
"Why the stars in the sky, are the same kind of stars, that I see in your eyes." What a beautiful line.

I thought the same thing!
My grandma played this song all the time when I was little, and it gives me an unmeasurable sense of nostalgia.
Carlo not only had a killer voice, he could riff like a jazz singer, was a producer, and played the drums! RIP Carlo your fans miss you.
I was born in the small town of Oxnard, California in 1953. I was 4 years old when the Rob Roys version came out and 7 or 8 when the Belmonts sang it. "Tell me why" brings me great memories from my childhood. Especially from my "Teen Idol" who is my older brother David who I love very much. Big brother, you'll always be my teen Idol!!!!😎👍

Heard this song on the local oldies station. There are several versions, so it took me awhile to find this version, which is superior, IMO. What a great song, I was learning how to walk when it came out, which means I’m getting pretty old.

I sang this song with Freddie and Angelo of the Belmonts in RAO’S in east Harlem one night the place went crazy every single person in the place came over to meet them but the best was Frankie pelligrino one of the owners of RAO’S as he shook there hands saying I know who you are it’s a honor to meet you guys I also had my old friend Carl Casano singing bass who said it was one of the best days in his whole life Phil caggiano

ONE OF THE BEST SONGS EVER!
0:03 "Whhhhyyy!".....😚
GREAT!
What I can't understand is that Dion left the group to pursue a solo career into Country western and blues. he said he didn't want to do rock & roll anymore. I don't think he was telling the truth since his following songs were not of that genre and used the Del satins to back him up on his so-called solo songs. Runaround sue, the wanderer, etc. These were songs he could have done with the Belmonts. I think he just wanted solo billing so only his name would appear on the record and make more money for himself. I don't think the Del-Satins ever got credit for doing backup for him on his solo career. Not right to turn your back on friends you grew up with. But then I heard that the Belmonts were fed up with Dion because of his drug use and maybe it was a mutual parting of the ways?

Dion never said that. He wanted to do more rock oriented music whereas the Belmonts wanted to keep doing clean cut doo wop.
@peanutzinuk

jgv007-I am sure you are RIGHT - he wanted top billing! After researching info of the Del Satins with their NY work, the billing said 'he wanted a rockier felling' to his song The Wanderer. In my outro on my show, I mentioned about money, and wondered if the Del Satins got proper royalties or just 'studio' rates. Betcha the later! PeanutzinUK
