The bells of Wolborough, Newton Abbot, Devon: The best peal of 8-bells in South Devon

Музыка

South Devon's finest 8-bell tower... John Taylor's 1926 work at their very best.
January 2015: Devon Call-Change Bellringers celebrating William Carew and Ryan Trout's birthdays. Footage shows rising these fantastic 8-bells in peal, the second-half of the "Queens" peal and concludes with lowering the bells in peal.
For anyone that is interested in the history of Devon Call-Change competition ringing, Wolborough ringers where one of the pioneering teams of the early Devon Association of Ringers. They had an outstanding 8-bell team and won the Devon 8-Bell title six times between the years of 1931 to 1948. This feat is even more remarkable when you consider the distance they travelled throughout Devon to compete. Wolborough ringers won the "Ross Shield" in 1931 at Ashburton, 1932 at North Tawton, 1933 at Chittlehampton, 1936 at Bovey Tracey, 1946 at High Bickington and 1948 at Chudleigh.
Ringers:
Scott Adams, Lee Avery, Rachel Avery, William Carew, Martin Crew, Suzanne Driscol, Stephen Herniman, Christine Ley, Sam Massey, Philip Morse, Graham Sharland, Natasha Trout, Roger Trout, Ryan Trout, Victoria Tucker & Paul Wright.
The ringers in this footage are:
Treble - William Carew (Caller)
2nd - Philip Morse
3rd - Martin Crew
4th - Paul Wright
5th - Christine Ley
6th - Ryan Trout
7th - Scott Adams
Tenor - Stephen Herniman

An absolute class 8! The sound and go of the bells is quite superb! And within 2 miles you have the fantastic 8 at Kingsteignton, what more could you want!

Gorgeous bells, just the right speed to produce superb striking. Award winning stuff! My 'Scientific' ringing friends envy such excellent ringing. Thanks for posting.

Rings of 8 are my favourite - not quite at 10 or 12, but not at 5 or 6 either - a nice middle point for ringing imo

Out of the 3 Newton Abbot towers, Wolbrough comes in 1st, Highweek 2nd & Clock Tower 3rd! you may think different, but that's what I think!

Max Ganesh, I'd say Wolborough then Kingsteignton, clock tower and then Highweek. Not much between the first 2 only that you can hear Wolborough slightly better in the ringing room

Ryan Trout Would you really count Kings as Newton Abbot? I would have thought that is was its own village
