The bell of the ancient chapel built in the middle of the Rosate farmsteads
The chapel was built in the early 16th century by a nobleman near an old farmstead on the outskirts of Rosate (Italy) and dedicated to the Virgin of Peace. The ancient oratory had been dedicated to Saint Ambrose, patron saint of the family that managed all the change around the village. The small building was equipped with a bell tower, built during the first expansion during the 18th century, with a bell cast for the occasion in 1758 in Milan, almost twin to the one on the bell tower of the oratory dedicated to Saint Joseph.

The small bell was stolen a few years after the Second World War and replaced by the farmer with a smaller bell, however a few years older. The bell cast in the middle of the 18th century was also made by the same craftsman from Milan, who in this case did not put a date on the bronze, which is in any case presumed to be about ten years older.
The interior is divided into two parts: the 18th-century part was added to make it a real church, since for the first two hundred years the building consisted solely of the altar area where celebrations were held for all the farmers arriving from the fields. The church belonged to the farmstead, until it was ceded with all the land to the parish. The inhabitants of the large farmstead and the Gaggianese residence, which is only a few hundred metres away, still look after all the cultivated fields around the church, doing regular maintenance so that people can go and pray to the Virgin Mary, especially in May when people come on pilgrimage from the city centre to pray the Rosary.
