Okay, the dude with the turtle neck was hot…danced pretty good too. I was little in the 70’s, I had 5 brothers and 3 sisters, 9 kids total, dad worked 2 jobs and we were lower middle class. All home cooked meals, 5 channels total on the TV to watch. Those holidays together with cousins, were some of the best memories. Now I have 50 some nieces and nephews, my parents passed away. I have 2 girls and I wished they could of experienced childhood like mine. The freedom, the safety and just being a stupid kid riding your bike everywhere. Thanks for the video, it brought back a lot of good memories.

@I am me • 25y ago What the hell are you talking about? He's relating a memory; not condoning the past. This guy was nice enough to share a happy moment, remembering his friends and relatives. His recollection has ZERO correlation to your annoying, overbearing concern, about people who happened to be smoking 50 years ago.? Maybe, you could take some of that energy, build a time time machine, and warn all those folks! Geez... can anyone have a remembrance, without you shitting all over it? Are all of YOUR memories perfectly healthy ones? If they are, then you are just SO blessed. I'm sure you have an abundance of awards and trophies, commemorating those safe and sanitary moments? I'm sure you'll be visiting all the other posters, who've remembered and shared similar events in their lives, too? God damn.

@I am me • 25y ago Who said anything about a crime? It doesn't take "sensitive" to recognize "snotty". That's right. You posted a comment. Thank you for clearing that up, Captain Obvious. And thank you for glossing over the point of my comment. I'm pretty sure you understood it. So, please don't act like you didn't. The man recalled a memory. You got self-righteous, as though his recollection was doing some damage, so as to accusing him and/or the people in the video of neglect. That wasn't an opinion. That was being vindictive. I'm sure that, if you choose to reply, you'll have something snotty to say. Do yourself a favor, and just walk away. However, I get the feeling you won't. Prove me wrong.

Yes, this was my family in Oakville, Missouri, a suburb of St. Louis.
No smartphone Zombies :)
Hi Tom how are you doing!
3:40 -- some pretty smooth moves considering the amount of space in which to perform.
Cool vid! That couple were good doing the Bus Stop

Thanks! Was it The Hustle or the Bus Stop? I'm not sure myself.

@@TomBeiter Hi Tom! I remember doing that dance and the steps are very similar to the Bus Stop we ( the people I knew) used to do (in New York in the 70s). The Hustle i recall, you faced each other and held hands. I'm sure there was a lot of variations of both dances.
Stretch Armstrong! @1:35
Edit: 😅🤣🤣🤣🤣 It's still 8 months away and I might sound a little batty but... MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY! 🎄🎅⛄
Me nor my kids had a Christmas with anyone named Tom neither
My god didn't realize stretch man was out then

Released in 1976. I'm actually surprised I got it the first year it was released. I usually had to wait until the price went down the following year on things like that.
Fake cameras didn’t exist back then
Would it be ok to use some of the scenes from this in a music video I am creating for my band?

I believe they are. That is my Aunt and Uncle. They were very hip. :)
Looks like the Aluminum Tree partied with the family in the basement rec room 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Yes, we'd moved on to a green artificial tree by this point, but I always liked the silver tree, so we would put it up in the basement. I still have that tree and put it up every year.
3:33 - I think they were doing The Hustle.

Great video! What town did the Beiter’s family live in?

Oakville, Missouri, a suburb of St. Louis. Settled primarily by Germans, hence all the beer.
Oh hamms beer
03:51 the blonde woman holding the baby was absolutely beautiful. Great smile. 😊😊

Thank you. My sister.
Big sideburns, beer, cigarettes, gorgeous girls, and those ugly satin ornaments! Yep, it looks like the '70s to me! That squeeze box and dancing makes me think this family are of European origin with strong ties to their lineage. They look like a lot of fun!

We're mostly German with some French and Irish. We had some great family gatherings.

Saw you asked if I was in the movie, but couldn't find the original comment. Yes, that's me having the Stretch Armstrong tug-of-war with my mom.

@@TomBeiter Yeah, I removed it. Thought maybe you didn't wanna say if you were. I was wrong! Anyway, that's cool. Am unsure if my mom or dad filmed Christmas. If they did, it must have been when my sister and I were toddlers.

@@miketype1each That clip of me and my mom was actually used on a History Channel special a few years ago called "Christmas in the 70's". This was the only Christmas my parents filmed, but I'm glad they did.

My Dad preferred Busch beer, but generally picked up whatever was the cheapest, especially if relatives were coming over and drinking it. 😆

Back in the early '80s I was buying Hamms long necks by the case and loved it.

🎶From the land of sky-blue wa-a-ters...🎶 As far as I know Hamm's was not distributed here in Oklahoma, but as kids we spent our summers in NW Iowa and it was everywhere, including the commercials. I guess St. Louis is more midwestern than southern. My kin in SL were Irish, but many married into German families...and they both like their beer!
