    I do like the 8-bit computer graphics. I can still make out the little details. Follow the advice though. Seriously. Londoners are NOT patient! Ignore and you risk angry mutters, or being shoved/elbowed. Walking slowly in large groups and not paying attention will earn you the same. LEAVE SPACE for fast walkers.

    The Rush hour during afternoon isn't so intense like the morning rush hour. London Underground is much cleaner than Paris metro and isn't full of immigrants. Oyster card can't be recharged online with a non British credit card. The underground stations far away from town-down don't have barriers and easy to forget using the oyster when leaving the station. Greenwich station doesn't have barriers. Buses during working hours are extremely slow in the London center. After 19:00 are faster, cheaper and you can see London better. Many underground stations are very close together and is better using your feet. Piccadilly, Leicester square, Covent garden, charring cross, Tottenham court road, Oxford circus etc are too close together. You will gain only 10-15 minutes and spent 4 £. Better enjoy walking and have a free coffee.

    I really want to visit London, because I prefer to visit cities. Also I'm interested how cities around the world work. With the escalator I was a bit surprised. Sure here in Germany the system is the same. Standing on the right and walking on the left. Same with cars. The slowest traffic to the right, to give way for faster traffic on the left. I thought that this in London might be flipped. Overall a good rule in every country is not to act like a tourist, especially in crowded areas or in peak times, especially off season. I commute over 2 locations where tourists will arrive or be. That the airport (the train station that has not that many tourists there that will stay in the city) and the main station. It's terrible with people that stopping for no reason or walk all over the place. The best practice is to walk on the right side, so people don't walk into each other's and still can pass. I know where I want to go and I'm a bit faster. Don't be that person that forgot where to go or what to do. When you need to stop, make it in a place where not the main traffic is. Nobody likes tourists that act like such, when they need to be somewhere (work, home etc.). I know the places where a lot of tourists will be and I avoid them, when I can and when I'm there, I must act differently.

    Thank you - glad you are loving the videos - we love making them. My advice would be to walk or get a bus if you can, that way you get to see London. I would also say best to avoid the tubes during rush hour which is Monday - Friday 7am-9am & 4pm-7pm.

    +Nimal Jayasiri you are very welcome - so glad you like them. I would say with that much luggage the easiest thing may be to get a cab. The cheapest would be the Heathrow Express. I wouldn't recommend getting the tube with that much luggage. Enjoy London!

    You won't get double charged on a bus. The Wayfarer machine will produce an error on screen saying that it has already been used.

    Thanks a lot for this video, Syrus! Quick and maybe dumb question: I'll be arriving at Gatwick Airport on a Saturday and I need to take the Thameslink or the Gatwick Express (whichever comes first) ASAP, so I wouldn't want to waste any valuable minute. Could I use my Oyster visitor card to pay for the Thameslink/GW X ride?

    +Martín González D. I think (please double check this) that you can use your Oyster Card on the Thameslink service but not the Gatwick Express.

    flying in and out of LGW, will be in london for 6 days and will spend the majority of it in zones 1-2... why wouldn't i buy a 7 day travelcard instead of an oyster card? plus if i buy my travelcard from a national rail station, i can apparently take advantage of the 2 for 1 deals that a lot of attractions have. so is an oyster card a better option than a 7 day travelcard that has unlimited travel for the zones i choose to buy for? thanks!

  • @cityhacksLondon

    +joits Thank you so much for your message - the Oyster card will automatically cap the amount it charges you so you will pay the same as if you bought a 7 day travel card. But if buying a 7 day travel card at a National Rail station gives you the 2 for 1 deals then I would go for that! Enjoy London!

    Hey! I am staying in London for only one day next week, and will mostly be travveling in zone 1 and 2. But i wonder how much i have to top up my oyster card with (or buy a day pass if it is better), thought you could help :)

  • @cityhacksLondon

    +EsuDzn Hi EsuDzn, thank you for your comment. I would say buy an Oyster card in advance as it will cap your fares at £6.50 for each day for zone 1 & 2. If you buy a travel card it will cost you £12.10 a day as it is for zones 1 - 5. So loading your Oyster card with £15.00 should be more than enough. Let us know if you need anymore help.

    We (two adults) are planning on travelling to London for a 5 day period which includes travel to and from heathrow airport, as well as using the public transport to get from attraction to attraction. How much do you reckon we need to fill up our visitors oyster cards?

  • @cityhacksLondon

    @cityhacksLondon

    If you use the Heathrow Express or Heathrow Connect service you will need to buy that ticket separately. But I would advise buying it in advance to get it cheaper. If you use the Piccadilly line on the tube to get to and from Heathrow then you can use your Oystercard. I would advise to top up each Oyster card with £30 & then you need to add more while you're here then you can. Have fun!
