The lighting in the village is insane
The Night Window scene is easily one of the gorgeous thing I've ever seen in theater.. Another great video Marc 😉

At first I went to see it in a normal theater and it was an amazing experience. It stayed in my mind for like a month. The music, the cinematography, how it was filmed, how I was part of their journey. Had to see it again while I still could. Went to see it IMAX, it was amazing once again. Btw funny to see this kind of comment here. I very often see people regretting or thanking all the gods they didn't see or saw Interstellar in IMAX. When it was released, there wasn't that option in Finland. And I only went to see it once though I was fuckin mindblown there after seeing it. Now it would be possible, but no Interstellar... So one of my dreams is to see Interstellar once again in a theater, in IMAX preferably.

This was a awesome movie
That shot by the window, with the black silhouette of the face in the foreground, and the other soldier outside in the window frame of the background, when I saw that in the theatre, I knew this show was something really, really special visually. Roger Deakin is truly one of the grandmasters of cinematography. He's on another level.

Why was it that one scene that made you realize it was gonna be a good movie? Elaborate.
@MrSm1lesz
4 жыл бұрын
@@clitoralrosary9474 Hmm. It was in the earlier parts (early-middle-ish) of the movie, before the equally gorgeous flare scene. I mean even before the silhouette scene the whole movie already was a visual treat, but that silhouette scene really took my breath away. I remember kinda gasping involuntarily when I saw it, it looked like it was from a painting. It was a great movie even before that scene, but that was the special "realisation" moment for me when I was watching it.
It was easy, the whole movie looks so beautiful. Roger Deakin is a genius, and Sam as well.

@@lewiscarter1229 i do but "it's just my opinion" and i wrote what i felt after watching it. I know it's really hard to write a screenplay like this (where everything is happening in real time or at least looks like it is)
@ErickGarcia-qs2yh
4 жыл бұрын
@@lewiscarter1229 yeah he had the ideas, but he gave those ideas for a writer, and she made the script. Sam is very good, but it's Deakins who made this movie incredible.
The best part of the entire movie is when he sits down by the tree at the end. It’s such a symbolic endcap to the entire thing. While the story of 1917 is pretty simple, the nuance is in the cinematography and the details Deakins and the production team throw in. I feel kinda weird when people say that Sam Mendes is the director, because it feels like Deakins is doing almost all of the work (obviously that’s not true, but still). Also, kinda bummed George McKay didn’t get any acting nominations because I think he’s phenomenal.
Best movie of 2019 without any doubt! The directing, the cinematography, the score....everything is just perfect!

Love how the video begin with the ending of the movie.
One of the most beautiful movies ever made. Watching this in theatre was unforgettable.
this is great but i wish you used "I am a Poor Wayfaring Stranger" for the music.
1917 is a cinemathography archivant. Roger Deakings and Sam Mendes are a great duo.
I watched this for the first time tonight and was amazed by how beautiful some of the shots are. The ending is perfect
This is legit my favorite film ever made, no recency bias needed.
Should have chosen "The Night Window" for the music, it's way more intimate and building.

I agree. That or "Milk".
"There is only one way this war ends. Last man standing." Quel grand film 😍
'Down to Gehenna, or up to the Throne, He travels the fastest who travels alone.' - General Erinmore (1917)
When I first watched the teaser, I looked up who was the cinematographer and I LOST MY MIND when it was Roger Deakins, saw it twice in theaters, first time was in the Dolby theater, and when the Oscars came for the cinematography category, I was praying for Deakins to win, when they said his name, I NEARLY CRIED! The Legendary Roger Deakins deserves more.
Film exceptionnel , la prouesse technique qui sert l'immersion et tout ça avec de l'émotion 😍

Watched this movie last night. Truly a masterpiece.
1917 is both beautiful yet haunting at the same time.
This film is a breathtaking cinematic experience. Amazing video.
I Loved to see the yellow light in last scene from theatre , Roger Deakins
‘Road to Perdition’ is another beautiful movie by Sam Mendes! It’s one of my personal favorites and the soundtrack is absolutely stunning! Same cinematographer of ‘American Beauty.’ It’d make my life if you took a crack at it. But even if u don’t, still love your videos! Thanxx
Amazing movie!
I would give anything to watch this movie for the first time again!
yessss! Thank you! After watching this movie I just couldn't wait for this video to be released :) Anyway, another great upload. Love from London.
It's a shame the beauty of the one shot technique can't be entirely shown in a short video.
Saw it twice in theaters, would love the chance to see it one more time on the big screen.
Yes! I've been waiting for this, thank you!
Thank you
Beautiful film, awesome video!

Amazing! Great job.
This movie blew away my expectations
my best friend and i work together and we watched this movie after a particularly long and hard day at a retail job and in that exhausted state this movie hit real close to home
Awesome editing!
Not one of Mendes’s best films story wise but visually, oh my god. I cant even put it into words.
Great movie! Thank you!
Some dark and yellow/orange high contrast night scene ? Yup, definitly a Roger Deakins movie !
so beautiful! always happy when you upload a new video
Thanks for sharing, loved being an extra in this :-)
I do acknowledge that there are many many talent cinematographers out there but no one even comes close to brilliant and genius of Sir Roger Deakins. The man truly sees the beauty in this world.

Omg! Was waiting for this!! Thank u THank u!!!
I feel “Come back to us” would’ve been the better choice, with some longer takes and fade in/out transitions in chronological order. Would’ve been more in keeping with the tone of the film, what with it being a “one take” and all. These hard cuts just don’t work here.

Edy Villeda - But this is titled “The Beauty of 1917”... “Come back to us” is a beautiful track. “Sixteen hundred men” is an epic track befitting of the scene it is used in. I just feel “Come back to us” would be a more fitting track for a video entitled “The Beauty of 1917”... imo.

Idk if you could do this realistically but this video would really be perfect with wayfaring soldier playing. That scene hit so hard in theaters.
