The ones and twos. That's it. No computer bull.
I once heard in an interview with the Beastie Boys that MMM never told the Boys what he had cued up on the tables to mix into the lineup. So, there would be shows where they would be rapping but in the back of their minds be thinking "Holy shit, Mike that's amazing!!" and enjoying it as much as the audience.

dcsmooth I loved Pass the mic they all got fucked up because he was throwing in beats with slower tempos and shit. And then at the end MCA was scared to hit his last verse on Intergalactic because he had no idea what was coming. Pretty awesome, thats what live music is all about not just the same shit night after night.

The show they did in Oakland at 3:15 I think MMM plays some funny dance music after a song as a joke and you can tell it was real from everyone's reaction, I just watched it last night because I was at that show in my hometown. It's pretty funny...

Michael Reed That’s awesome. I was just wondering if they knew in advance what songs MMM was going to mix. Just shows how great the 4 of them worked together.

I was there for my 21st birthday. Didn’t know the Beastie Boys were in town until the morning of the show, but by chance my best friend and I made it into this show. Hands down the best concert experience of my life. Im glad it’s still up on KZread. R.I.P. MCA!!! 🙌🏻
Best GROUP ever in my opinion, there inspirational, revolutional, tribal, relentless energy they create and not just noise, a message. R.I.P beastie boys you will be alive forever 👽☕🌠

I saw them a bunch of times in NYC. They played a small club and I got in by paying the hot dog vendor outside $29 to sneak me in. Best concert was the "Awesome I fucking Shot that " concert. The garden was live from the get go. Everyone kept moving all night.
I was at this show with a few mates...it was absolutely brilliant. It gave me chills. 😅 Love the Beastie boys.👍🏻🙏🏻 RIP MCA ✡️🎤rest easy brother.
I love these concerts. Mixmaster Mike put all 3 of the Beasties to the test by switching the beats live on the spot and the Boys never skipped a beat. Groups today should study this for how to rock a live show.
THIS Is Hip Hop!
I was at this show. I have the set list and a v.i.p. pass framed up. Great time!

I didn't give Beastie Boys the respect they were due in the 90s when I was in my late teens. I thought they yelled and didn't have the skills of Nas, Outkast, KRS, Snoop and others of the time. I was lucky enough to come to my senses by the end of the 90s and was able to see them live twice since then. I don't think there is another Hip Hop act that can rock a place like these guys.
They made hippop and Rick and MTV. I grew up listening to them 😊😊❤❤❤❤.Talent
One of my greatest regrets is that I never went to one of their concerts. Would have been an awesome experience.

well, I was a superfan and saw them in 1987 Licensed to Ill.. also Public Enemy before anyone knew them. One thing I learned.. go to as many live concerts you can... you never knew how significant it may be.

I went to one of these promotional shows down in DC at the famed 9:30 Club back in ‘04. It was “win your way in”, no tickets were sold. Had to be the right caller or get picked through emails to the local radio station; WHFS at the time. Week before the show they gave one more chance to win.....Get on live TV with a sign that said “BEASTIE BOYS!” and you’re in. The Monday before the show, I went to Baltimore’s inner harbor with my huge neon yellow sign with the plan to get on TV when the CBS affiliate WJZ did a Monday morning segment where a local group sing The Bangles “Manic Monday”. Five minutes before they go live, the reporter tells me and the five other people with signs to “get the hell out of here” and “don’t even try to ruin my shot.” I retuned to my car and sat there thinking how I came all this way and I was NOT going to let this opportunity slip by. Saw the red camera light go on and I was off!! Grabbed my sign, ran up behind the group singing Manic Monday, started screaming BEASTIE BOYS!!! BEASTIE BOYS!!! Jumping all over like a crazy man!! The reporter is chasing me around, I jump on my car hood, more yelling BEASTIE BOYS!!! WOOOOOO!!!! Saw a couple of 5-0 coming my way, jumped back in , skidded out of there in a split. After three hours of driving back and forth to bring the tape from my house back to the radio station, I was exhausted. That night, phone rings. Its the radio station telling me that my video was the most insane one they saw and that I most definitely got tickets!! Even got to talk about it on air with the DJ. Went that Thursday at 9 AM, second one in line. Front row, my first Beastie Boys show ever! Got a high five from the King AdRock, shook Mike D’s hand, singing, dancing, going absolutely nuts!! Besides the birth of my children, that whole experience is one of the most amazing times of my life. And to think, I could have drove off that morning like all the others and regretted it for the rest of my life. So glad I didn’t.

dcsmooth Great story! No need to run from the cops though...you have just as much right to jump around like a nut, interrupting a tv report as the tv station does to film something in public.

I had tickets to the Beastie Boys and Rage Against the Machine tour... The tour was cancelled when Mike D broke his collar bone 😭
What a shame this was the best not just live hip hop group but best live group ever. They don't make em like this anymore. So underated and disrespected I hate when hip hop heads interview them and talk just about license to ill. Paul's boutique was the hottest shi I've heard and 20 some years later its finally getting respect it deserves. High plains drifter could be the hottest shit I've ever heard. The lyrics for 1988 were so ahead of its time and hello nasty Is an album that will give your speakers a work out. Intergaltic was played at this club at I was at one night and the place went nuts. It was so fuckin heavy you couldn't help but start bobbin your noggin

Yeah it was good. MM drops a beat in at 4:27 which is half a beat out (comes in on the upbeat/offbeat). It puts MCA off coming into the next bar. MM does recover and puts the start of the bar where it should be at 4:29 but MCA has already followed the 4:27 beat as the downbeat and the two start the bar out of sync. It was basically MM's fault, but brilliant they can just rewind like that in a second or two.

It's the sort of mess up where the recovery is so smooth it could have made the album as a skit.

I was at this show. Waited in line overnight for the ticket. Cost me $2 to see Beastie Boys at the iconic Huntridge theatre.
Its a fuking miracle we saved anything of earlier history, I had videotape so much...........
Best band ever.
Love this. The best live rap act in the world without a doubt
God bless ❤
this was dope.R.I.P MCA They need to make,a movie bought them.
different level 💯 👌
I saw these guys in the early 1990's at an outdoor ampitheater with Cyprus Hill, and they tore the place up.....it was a huge party. They rocked all the hiphop shit and then played a whole punk rock set including tunes from Bad Brains and Minor Threat. When they chilled it out they were playing a jazz tune with upright bass and we were all like wtf can't these guys do? HARDCORE

SKILLS TO PAY THE BILLS! Another AMAZING😮 concert and you will always get more than what you paid for at a Beastie Boys concert. Nobody can do it like these guys! Devastating to your ears...THE ILLEST!
I called in sick to work in line for tickets to go to this show and went!! Thank you for posting this!! Great show & only 2 bucks at the best venue the historic huntsridge :)
To this day, they were the best concert I ever saw……unreal
This was one of my favorite shows ever. I waited out front the Huntridge, the best venue ever, for two days before the show, I was the 2nd person in the door. It was ten years since I saw them at Lollapalooza 1994 at the Sam Boyd Stadium, also in Vegas and they were just as good if not better. I live there.
Not a single flip phone or Nokia phone in sight, just everyone living in the moment
MASTERS of the M.I.C.!!!! #respect #RIPMCA
Carbon copy of the show I saw at the 9:30 Club in DC in '04. Such a great experience! One of the best nights of my life.
Love the Beasties ALWAYS..saw them in concert UIC PAVILION CHICAGO!
Gone,but never forgotten!
i saw them with there Hello Nasty Tour "In the Round" they played on a huge moving circular stage, in St Louis, nothing will ever live up to that
Thank you for uploading this on KZread. : ) Everyone will love The Beastie Boys.
I know the frame changes as you get older, but it takes a lot to beat three MC's and one DJ.
When M of MTV = Music

Mix Master Mike was a REAL DJ. You kids don't have a clue.

One time I will brag and boast. Seen these lovely fella several times and during all eras. I am a lucky human.
If I could love anyone more than the Beastie Boys I've not met them!
Beastie Boys Ruled

Beastie Boys were and will stay SAVAGE!
these guys, and the kings from queens is the reason i picked up a mic.
After seeing this recording I am So sad I never got to see them live and 1 of my few regrets in my rock-n-roll life is not trying harder to see the Beastie Boys live during my youth in Los Angeles in the 80's and 90's of the 1900's. Duh.
THAT ARE GODS!!!!!!
Birmingham Odeon UK 80'S With Run DMC,DJ Hurrican..........Best concert in my live for real & i'm 52,i watch them now & expect Big Tasty from the goldbergs to pop up lol

And Machine Gun Kelly thinks if your older you should give up rapping. These guy ripped it up with lots of energy for many years. These mumble rappers need to go back to the roots of hip hop and learn!

How many times do they curse anyone ? Its incredible to rap so smooth without f this f that pus.y this true artist not saying rappers that curse aren't talented it's just crazy how well they flow
Legendary
Damn, that dj made my day!
MCA was the illest and purest pale hiphopper of all time...and that will never be beaten...
haha the special request weave for jim. love it
So we have two Adams and two Mikes here then.
The production and addition of MMM made for a better commercial exhibition, but I saw them when they were pretty much drunk, drenched everyone with beer and probably had half of the girls backstage after the show. Oh and only had one album if you don't count cookiepuss/she's on it.
SOUND SCIENTISTS🙌

MMM was clearly struggling that night. Threw the beastie's off a couple of times. The great thing about MMM is he can bring the beat back on demand quickly and smoothly.
