The Bear's first season introduces us to world-renowned chef Carmen Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White) who has returned to Chicago to take over his family's Italian Beef sandwich shop after his brother Michael's (Jon Bernthal) untimely death. Carmy meets resistance from his brother's staff when he tries to change things up. Richie Jerimovich (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) tries to hold onto the past as a way to deal with his loss.
Carmy hires up-and-coming chef Sydney (Ayo Edebiri) and eventually starts to win over the rest of the staff as they encounter a constant barrage of problems. While everyone seems to have loved Mikey, Carm realizes he inherited a mess when he left him The Beef.

I did this because I thought I might as well when I did the rewatch to start working on a Season 2 video. I will try to follow up with that ASAP. I'm really looking forward to the new season, let me know what you think.

Season 2’s change of pace (like focusing on one character per episode) was an interesting change. Took a second to get used to but is well worth it. Looking forward to you talking about the 7 Fishes episode 😂

This was great. Really looking forward to your season 2 recap as a nice ramp up to season 3 (and 4 which I think they filmed back to back?)

Do you think you'll be able to upload it before the premiere? Thank you for this breakdown!
I just finished the first season bawling crying. The critique of why The Bear would take them back is crazy when the whole season all they do is fight and show up the next day like nothing happened bc that what families do. These people had about 5 physical fights from sheer arguments during the season. Both Sydney and Marcus are extremely good at what they do and highly effective at their jobs. He would be crazy not to. The family dynamic really hit home at the end them fellowshipping at the end. Families fight and show back up bc they love each other. It was soooo good.
S2 E7, Forks, is one of the best episodes of TV I've seen.

@@PetePeppers1 If you ever do a rewatch of the expanse, I'd love to see you cover the earlier seasons as well as you did the later ones
A correction to a huge plot point I also thought was a problem! He actually throws away a BIG can of tomatoes instead of the SMALL cans (like the recipe instructed to use). Epic!
A recap so good it hit me in the feels all over again. Well done sir, you didn’t just tell the story, you explained the tale.
the shorts sucked me into wanting to learn about the show, and your video was ABSOLUTELY PERFECT. Very grateful!!!
The line when he said sid go make family i broke down great show.
It’s funny how you described Tina perfectly, i absolutely disliked her but really resonated with her reluctancy to change in the work place, we’ve all been there and we’ve all either been Tina or the rest of the crew who jump on board. I love Tina now. Another thing this show and you hit the nail on the head is wanting to continue at a job simply for routine and how it gets your mind of everything else; I unloaded trailers for 2 years, crazy to say I loved it, especially the summers the trailers would get up to 80+ degrees I lost 60 pound in about 4-5 months, I felt alive, well disciplined. Once I left that Job for personal reasons I lost my sense of identity, I’ve found it since then but I understand carmy. Working a job that kills you mental and physically because it makes you feel more alive, more important, better even it makes you feel worth it. This show is the best, and honestly the most relatable/ realistic show I’ve watched probably because it relates to me personally but man this show is great.
Fantastic work. Show is so good. Can't wait for season 2 recap! So many amazing episodes
Great review cant wait for your season 2. There's also a British version of this in a "single-take" film called "Boiling Point" that takes place in a London restaurant on Christmas Eve.
this show brought tears to my eyes several times because it is just so human, and reminded me so much of my family
The WXRT reference is awesome. That was the radio station of my childhood. I almost never listen to the radio these day, and it's past its heyday, but I make a point of tuning in to WXRT anytime I'm in range. Edit: RIP Lin Brehmer.

Pete, I recently stumbled upon Dark Matter on AppleTV. It’s a new tv show and only half way through season one but I’m hooked. I love your breakdowns and would love to see a breakdown on that show once all the episodes are aired.

I read the book and I came to Pete's channel hoping to see he was covering it before I watched it 😢
So insightful
Fantastic breakdown👌💚🇬🇧🌱
Season 2 finale is an absolute goat tough to beat that ❤️😭
Since finding your channel I've really loved how you do your reviews. This looks like something I might have followed but the trailers showed that high-energy. I felt that sustaining that as a viewer would be exhausting, especially if it is that episode after episode. I don't think I could survive binge-watching this.
tbh i love the bear as a show and it's so deeply accurate when you're working in a kitchen. im only missing the one dude vaping in the walk in. ritchie's rant outside to the ballbreaker crowd is one of my top 10 favourite moments in the show.
Pete is alive. I thought he died of boredom watching The Sympathizer. Phew

A huge flaw in the story .. no drig addict is gonna have 300k hidden, ANY WHERE 😂 that shit would be long gone, up their nose, in their pipe, in their spoon..
Unlistenable to because of mic
Ah, now I understand why you suddenly stopped covering The Sympathizer, you wanted to binge watch The Bear as the third season is coming in a few weeks and you wanted to be prepared to ride the algorithm as the viewership number for the sympathizer are terrible.

I have literally not seen or heard anything about that show other than the thumbnails from Pete's channel. So yeah probably not the best fit. Dark Matter would be great considering it's based off an amazing Sci-fi book.

Counterpoint, videos about The Bear don’t usually do that great from what I’ve seen. But would like to be proven wrong here and maybe season 3 videos will start trending in a way other Bear videos didn’t really do.

@@clvrswine ummm I wasn't bashing the shows, I didn't even mention The Bear (a great show). I was just agreeing that the viewership for _Pete's_ videos on The Synthesizer may be the reason he stopped covering it. Pete has decided to stop covering series in the past due to low view counts regardless of the show's popularity or quality. What is wrong with you that makes you insult people based off absolutely nothing, on behalf of someone/something that has nothing to with you whatsoever? That tells me everything I need to about the quality of human being you are. (Hint: it's not good).
Stoped at 3 41. Your first 3+ min review was so good it made me feel more of your reviewing would make watching the show a waste of time. Will come back after seeing the show (broke at the mo.ent) Thanks
