I was at this show. Easily one of the greatest concerts of my life. It was so good to be back in this kind of environment hearing live music. The setlist was an absolute treat, covering all of the hits as well as deeper cuts to promote the Feel Flows boxset. The atmosphere was positive and harmonious. Everyone was in good spirits. I got to talk to Bruce after the show which was the icing on the cake of a perfect concert. And it was a free show to attend! I came to Illinois for the concert from WI.

Thanks for sharing. The next best thing to see all the members together is seeing some of them. I think Mike sounds great. He's 80 and keeps the energy. The band is probably the best version of the Mike and Bruce's Beach Boys. I miss Jeffrey, my best wishes for him. Bruce sounds so good. I wish the 60th anniversary brings back to Brian, Al, David and Blondie. Surf's up!!!!!

@@railwaymaster1163 Blondie shows up at shows with Brian and Al, so he could still be in the mix. I'm hoping for a 60th anniversary. It would be nice to have Mike, Brian, Al, and Bruce together on stage - with longtime friends like Blondie, Matt Jardine, Darian Sahanaja, etc.

I can't wait to see the Beach Boys and the Temptations at the Minnesota State Fair!

But in the last 15 years, there have been people in their 50s attending and they sit down most of te concert. 30 or 40 years ago the audience was younger and everyone was on their feet. When I go nowadays I want to get up on my feet but I'll be blocking the view of te people behind me. So I wait. The last 3 or four songs I figure I've been a good guy most of this concert. Now, if I'm blocking your view, you get up on your feet.

Good tribute band

Saw the Boys at Deer Valley with the Utah Symphony. Last Beach Boys concert for me. Love was not animated (like usual), was off key and forgot words. Sad day, but everything has a shelf life. Theirs has appeared.

Mike Love turned 80 in March and still rocks! Until you see them live, the video doesn't do them justice. I saw saw them a week ago in Galveston & they blew me away!

Mike fired Brian, Al and David after the reunion tour and he owns touring rights to the BB name. Mike couldn't stand Brian getting attention (and money) as he wants it all to himself. Al is touring with Brian, loyal to Brian. Bruce has been loyal to Mike and always goes with him. Both Brian and Al hate Mike. Mike has even tried to sue Al for mentioning the Beach Boys name in promotional ads for his shows. David did some shows with Brian as well after the reunion tour. While Brian's voice is long gone (same with Mike), Brian still puts far more heart into his performances and plays bigger venues now while the BB with Mike have become a nostalgia act, will play anywhere that is willing to pay them. 2022 is the 60th anniversary so interested to see what happens.

@@Peppers19781978 Mike leases the BBs name for touring purposes only. When BBs concerts make money the Corporation makes money which Al & Brian get a piece of. This was all with Brian's blessing as he wants to tour as Brian Wilson, not the BBs. About 25 yrs ago, Al wanted to tour as Beach Boys Family & Friends (the act included Brian's daughters, Al's sons and longtime touring BBs like Ed Carter & Billy Hinsche). Mike & Al ended up in Court which ruled against Al for using the BBs name. I agree that Brian, Mike and Bruce too have seen better days with their vocal chords. Only Al still sounds good.

To tell the truth unlike what's here already. Mike never fired aanyone from the group. The plan was to stay together after their 50th anniversary, but Brian's management decided at last minute to pull him from the lineup. David Marks stayed on up until 2015 but for one reason or another Al has never wanted to be in The Beach Boys touring group with only Mike as the other original. Mike has continuously wished all of them could play together but it is the others keeping that from happening, not him.

@@railwaymaster1163 This is all horribly untrue, there was never a plan to stay together after the tour. Although the Reunion Tour got Mike some unfair flack (the success of the tour added dates leaving no gap between the Reunion and the return of the basically just Mike BB) he has very much tried to virulently fight the other BB to stop them from touring. He even objected to Brian playing Smile, an album he hadn't let anyone hear for 40 years (he consented to its release as part of the Reunion contract). Brian Wilson's management, and even some promoters, were completely taken aback by Mike's fast reversion. They were under the impression they were taking a break but Mike immediately got back on the road with the pre-reunion lineup (as was agreed mind you). Mike fired Al in May 1998, well after Carl was too sick to perform and continued to play with the band after he passed away. Davis Marks, who returned to the band because of Carl, was dropped less than 60 days later. In this period there was both a Al/Mike/Bruce then a Al/Mike/Bruce/David and then a Mike/Bruce/David series.

Gotta drop the key for "Darlin'". Even Carl in his early 20's barely made the notes in this original key.

Darian Sahanaja from Brian's band is reaching 60 and is still performing the song amazingly in its original key, which is really impressive

Unfortunately Brian Eichenberger is not the falsetto quality of Jeff Foskett or Matt Jardine. It really does have a negative effect on their performance because the hi falsetto is so important to their song stylings.

Sadly Jeff Foskett had throat surgery and can no longer sing. He was a touring BB in the 90s, was a member of Brian's band and also Mike/Bruce BBs. But other than singing, he is okay. Matt is great at Brian's falsetto parts and singing Don't Worry Baby.

Really interesting if you take a kind of long-view look at this and try to figure out the motivation for Mike Love carrying on so. First, even if this wasn't a free concert, with eight musicians to pay (and a sign language lady!) Mike is not hauling in enough money to make this remotely necessary unless he's carrying a massive burden of debt. The Beach Boys made lots and lots of lots of money on recordings and they have toured endlessly since the 1960s in various incarnations and to various degrees of success. This is real end-of-the-road kind of stuff, not exactly like they're playing halftime at the Super Bowl. So what else could it be except that Mike Love enjoys it? It can't be artistically satisfying playing the same songs (and mostly Brian's songs at that) show after show for well-on sixty years. It's obviously not the money. It can't be the fame and adulation, he's not exactly the most loved of Beach Boys. He doesn't seem to be having much fun but what else could it be? I could see someone making a real sad "Death of a Salesman" type play about these last, lurching, lingering days of the Beach Boys.

This is insane. I'm old and these guys have been touring longer than I've been alive. What is the record? This is 60 years. Springsteen has been playing since 1964 but I think he is about to wrap it up.

I have seen the original Beach Boys in concert many times from 1976 to 1982. I have watched many videos of the original group. Although Mike Love the lead singer is an original and Bruce Johnson who came on in the 1960's is considered an original without Al Jardine's and Carl Wilson's voices and Dennis Wilson's drumming style, the sound is completely different from the original group. This version sounds more like a poor cover band.

You can tell they got out of shape during their time off. Watch any video from before the lockdown and they were a lot better.

I was there, and too all the people talking smacc stfu. You try and sing when your 80. They put on a really great show and it was honestly amazing. So glad I got to see the beach boys. I'll be honest, I think War (they played a week before) was better overall, but the Beach Boys where great. Mike Love and Bruce Johnston are the only original members. (Most people don't count Bruce as an og, but the man was there for Pet Sounds, SmIle, and all that crazy sandbox in brians house shit. He wrote Disney Girls! That man is an original member IMHO. I'm so happy I got too see these absolute rock legends live.

Great show! Great tour-saw them in Grand Island! Was this a free concert? Loved Mike's political comments! lol. When they were in Grand Island he talked about the Wuhan Lab, lol! Of course, the chain reaction was half the audience cheering (me), and the rest of them booing. People are too easily offended these days!

Yep, just watched a video of Brian from last night, much better than this, 1 1/2 beach boys and mikes sons and a few friends. Brian’s is 2 1/2 beach boys, one son, and friends that have been touring with him or the band for years. I have always enjoyed Bruce though, I don’t have anything against him, it’s just Mike.

This is just painful !!! I was a massive BB fan back in the day especially around the early 70's when Blondie Chaplin and Rikki Fataar were in the band. Sunflower, Holland, Surfs Up and "So Tough" are still my favourite albums. Love and Johnson are NOT the Beach Boys, they are just a very poor tribute act. Retirement is long overdue.

beach boys are nothing without brian

Oh Dear God, Mike...please....for the sake of the band.....retire. Or just don't sing. Not saying you don't deserve to be up there as a founding member, but you're killing all the good vocals by the rest of the band.

Mike and his band sound great so let them sing they don’t need to retire. They are awesome no matter how old they are.

Mike Love and Bruce Johnston are great

When people will finally RECOVER from all these FALSE IDOLS and celebrities?

The woman signing has more energy than the pathetic Mike Love. This is terrible

Mike Loves vocals are dreadful throughout this concert. He really needs to stand down rather than ruin every song by being out of tune or flat. Its hardly the Beach Boys though, with him being the only original member on the stage; I wouldnt go to see this lineup.

Mike Loves vocals aren’t bad or dreadful. He doesn’t need to stand down because he does so good on vocals. He isn’t bad at all. Hopefully The Beach Boys reunite for a 60th anniversary tour.

@@greatcitysportaction2289 I grew, pretty much. Mike doesn't sound like he did in the 1960s, but he still does a decent job on the whole (better than Brian Wilson in terms of consistency, to be honest, love BW though I do).. I have seen both the BB and Brian Wilson in recent years and appreciate them for what they are and do. Moaning about Mike seems to be the major motivator for some folks, rather than appreciating the music. If they don't like the current incarnation of the band, the moaners should not go or not watch.

This is a Mike Love Beach Boys concert. You shouldn’t expect elegance and class as you would if you were attending a Brian Wilson concert.

Ok its not the BB but at least Love is there plus Bruce , although not completely original , was in the band from 65/66 .He is like Ron wood .Is wood regarded an original stones member .??.Yes I would like to see a 60th reunion from the surviving BB , but unlike to happen .I mean without Dennis and Carl it can never be the real original band . Musically I thought it was pretty good tbh , although Loves voice is certainly waining a bit .

The surviving Beach Boys did reunite in 2012 for their 50th anniversary. Not likely to happen again though.

I am a great Beach Boys fan but that sounds absolutely crap.

A bit of a lame crowd the beach boys deserve better
