@@RaineErasmusWalker I miss the era in games when devs were trying to push physics and world simulation (Crysis, Far Cry 2, all the games you list). Preston Marloe: Joyriden and crashed a multimillion dollar helicopter at the Pentagon (Damaged/destroyed an Unnamed US Military General's limo in the process) Terrence Sweetwater: Accidentally uploaded a virus to a government server George Haggard: Blew up a large ammo dump in Eastern Paris Sergeant Redford: Just joined so he can retire early.

The campaign is underrated I mean, not the gameplay necessarily. People definitely dog on this type of loud dumb military shooter but bfbc2 does it right. Fans - We love the destruction DICE! give us more DICE - Okay we will tone down the destruction with each iteration :)
For Bad Company 2: The driving sections where you can drive yourself i used the third person camera all the way and for the mortar section you just have to listen to Sarge and only move when he says you should, then it's not problem at all. the vehicle section where you have to shoot behind you, it's a matter of aiming right. you kill everything with one or two hits and they are spawning the same way everytime. believe me i've played this campain way more then i should have probably, just for the charme of it over the years.
The squad you run with in the campaign reminded me of how good SW Republic Commando was. Really wish we had gotten a sequel, because it left us on a damn cliffhanger.
Man you mentioning Battlefield Modern Combat just brought back some amazing memories I had of that game. Probably still have it and a ps2 console, might go and play it again. Also imo the BF BC2 multiplayer was the best out of them all.
I started watching your videos about a year ago and you have recently covered all of my all time favorite single players games. And now this!!! This is my childhood man. Thanks for covering it. Have a great day
The thing that has always stuck with me about BFBC2 was the eardum-popping explosion SFX. One of the most iconic sounds of the franchise.

Some of my favourite games ever. Cool to see you mention Modern Combat as well, it was awesome. It actually did have a story though, I played it again not too long ago.
That damn piano menu theme is still my ring tone to this day
Man, you reviewed so many games I used to not be allowed to play but would always play with my friend whenever I was over at his house. Gonna binge watch these!
I just started re-playing both of these on Series X and they’re better than I remember. Great timing Gman!On a 16 channel Atmos setup using the DSU or Auro3D upmixer, it sounds exponentially better than the last time I played this during my 2nd year in the Army using a simple 2.1 setup. Your quote about sound design is spot on, I currently work with quite a few developers using the Dolby Atmos renderer to mix and properly place objects in the immersive sound field as opposed to legacy codecs which use channel based sound. It does require the user to have a minimum of 2 (in all reality 4 for the proper imaging of front to back and side to side overhead audio) but the difference when properly placed and calibrated is night and day compared to a conventional 5 or 7 channel bed layer setup or Soundbar. Atmos for headphones relies on HTRF (head tracking related function) which is far from being perfected and the results vary greatly in a similar way that there’s excellent examples of native Dolby Atmos and DTS:X soundtracks as well as sub par ones.
BC2 multiplayer still holds up today. Awesome maps and gameplay.
Ah the nostalgia. Thanks for covering these two rough gems :). Good times were had.
OMG that's so cool you brought up a reference to Kelly's Heroes, that makes me so happy. I kinda always thought the gold sub plot was a reference to Kelly's heroes.
Still remember how amazing the sound effects were. I turned it up high and My neighbor thought that there was a literal war zone in my living room.

They really towed the line on the T rating aswell. Tons of swearing (probably the only T rated game I've ever played where people regularly yelled "sh*t" and "b*tch") and extreme violence. I guarantee you the only thing that stopped it being M rated was the lack of blood.
Fuck yeah, man. Battlefields just special. What a great video idea
Among other things, BC2 had absolutely amazing audio. Firing the m95 and the m60 in the atacama desert level and hearing the echo is so good.
I remember getting Bad Company 1 for Easter in 2010. It's funny that you mention that you liked the mission when you were separated from your squad, because 13 year old me found that frustratingly hard and I never finished the game because of it.
Modern Combat was one of my most favorite games; a bit arcadey, but once you get the momentum going, you become an actual Super Soldier! I need to note that for my Awards List.
The bad company games were both just masterpieces i have SO MANY memories playing BC2 with a buddy late at night playing for hours i got so excited when they announced portals in 2042 (obviously it turned out to be a disappointment) but the XM8 prototype is still i think my favorite video game weapon EVER it was SO good and sounded so NASTY i would also like to say thanks for posting this I've been very sick and watching you're content makes me happy hoping my kids and wife don't catch whatever the fuck i have
Thank you for this very objective review of a game that I look back fondly on. I didn't know the video would be this funny. Cheers.
The saddest part is, I always wanted a Bad Company 3 after all these years. But now, after seeing what EA did to DICE, I don't any more. There is no way they could ever make anything as magical as Bad Company every again the way they are now. I don't want them to ruin the fantasy.
Man i really should replay these campaigns...
Bc1 was great, one of my favorites
I'm glad you're doing a review this I remember this game fondly
Thank you so much for reviewing these
Man i missed Sarge and the boys, the banter the squad had in BF:BC2 was priceless. I used to slow play the hell out of missions just to see what they would talk about if you didnt rush through the missions. When Flynn was killed and went to the great bong in the sky i had to take a moment of silence and rip a fat bong rip for him. That game was the highest point in the Battlefield series in my opinion, it all started going down hill after that...
I have a fond memory of these games. BF:BB2 multiplayer is unchallenged to this day of how concise, well-designed, and how much variety it had. Yeah had so much fun back in the day with it. I might be seeing it through rose colored glasses, but when BF3 came out that was the end of great BF games
I think Battlefield 2: Modern Combat's campaign is incredibly underrated. It's exactly what someone (like me) who played the series up to that point would expect a story-focused BF game to look like, with more emphasis on the factions and the war than on individual characters, and taking part in large-scale battles where you fight alongside dozens of friendly soldiers rather than just a couple of squad-mates.
Yes. YESSS! Unironically loved Bad Company 1 and spent days on its completely average online and hope we get a full remaster with new servers one day

Felt like a direct continuation of the single player into multiplayer. Could have been just luck that I got Nelson Bay d: Still a great memory and experience!
BFBC 1 is my #1 favorite shooter game. It was my first. I remember the first mission, I did not know the controller sticks clicked in to crouch so I was stuck in the very beginning for a long time. I felt stupid when I figured out.

BC2 was by FAR my favorite game growing up, especially Vietnam. I can remember role playing as a VC soldier with a PPSh on Hamburger Hill, everything around me being burnt from napalm. Over ten years later and I still haven’t found anything that captured the magic from this game. This game always reminded me of offline multiplayer in Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 1 & 2. The big maps, the graphics, the bots, the respawning when you die instead of mission over, the old school modern-warfare military theme, and most importantly the ability to tackle mission in the way you see most fit. The multiplayer mode even had its own campaign. I also really miss bots and the rag doll effects that were in many 2000's games. Those were the days!

Broken in some aspects (like free base camping lmao) but the fun was definitely there. Also the maps were amazing, especially in Rush Man nostalgia really hit me now
