The Battle of Halys, 82 BC ⚔️ | Second Mithridatic War

The battle of Halys was the culmination of many skirmishes between the Roman commander Murena and Pontic king Mithridates VI. Combined, these make the Second Mithridatic War.

I considered covering it, but found out my friend HistoryMarche might be covering this topic relatively soon. The political machinations preceding the battle are incredibly complex, and I don't think I would be able to properly do it justice due to my limited knowledge of that era and region.

A bit of advice. Diversify your location. A lot of people, me included, are gravitating away from this place. And I'm not sure if you went through any of the History Channel debacles in the past on this platform, we're just talking about sensitive topics from a historical perspective were targeted for no reason. But you have a quality Channel, and more people should get access to you.

Thank you so much for sharing with me this fragment of history. The Bible foretells a time when peace will be achieved not through mankind. Psalm 46:9 says regarding the Creator, Jehovah God: “He is making wars to cease to the extremity of the earth.” Jehovah God will accomplish true peace by means of his Kingdom, for which many sincere people have repeatedly prayed Matthew 6:9, 10: "Our Father in the heavens, let your name be sanctified. Let your Kingdom come. Let your will take place, as in heaven, also on earth." His Kingdom is not an elusive condition of the heart; it is a real government through which God will establish peace from one end of the earth to the other. The inspired prophet Isaiah foretold that subjects of that government will not “learn war anymore.” (Isaiah 2:4) By means of a worldwide educational program, people will learn to live in peace and thus “beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning shears.”

I think it’s funny the historians that recorded, and lived at the time say there were say 100,000 enemy troops. Then the historians of alive today say no more then likely it was only 20-30,000 troops. I wonder what they base these figures on? Everything they know is from ANCIENT TEXTS, and writings! So how do they chose what was accurate and what wasn’t accurate then???? This is better then our palaeontologists that try to tell us how a megalodon looked, acted, lived, and died based on A TOOTH that they found! A TOOTH! Nothing else, just a tooth. They don’t even know most everything about a great white that they can actually see, and study! This will probably change in 50 years with the new generation of scientists too. You ever seen a big tailed sheep? They have a behind like a curvy Latino lady. There skeletons won’t show their fat behinds either. You ever compare a raptor or T-Rex skeletons t a kangaroos? They’re very similar. Maybe they hopped. That explains the large tail wouldn’t it.
