As told by John Philip Sousa. On the eve of the ending of the Civil War, when the USMC Band went to the WH, President Lincoln requested that DIXIE be played. Trump may not be the most polished POTUS but I am damn glad and Proud he is OUR POTUS and I pray that GOD lets him have another 4 yrs.

America CAN be great again if we'd do it GOD'S way. Put away our petty differences, honor and trust in HIM. HE provided a way to DO that...or continue in our selfish, destructive thinking and behavior and, end up in destruction. God doesn't want that to happen, but, He gave us a self will and HE IS A GENTLEMAN ,AND WON'T impose His will on us. It is ENTIRELY our choice.

Well, you single-handedly excluded a significant number of people from our nation then. You're making enemies out of your own people - people who, might I add, often times supported your cause with unwavering devotion. Now that our common foe is defeated, I hope the religious community will not turn on those of us who don't share their views. Your comment is the prime example of religious division. I don't follow your religion, and you immediately assume a hostile stance. I'm on your side against the globalist plague. Why can't we be proud of the nation we strive to improve without being divided by such a stupid thing?

At 72 yrs old now, I look back to 1964 when in 10th grade in a large high school in the western suburbs of Philly, our 600 member school chorus was invited to sing two special memorial concerts with the Phila Orchestra for the 100th commemoration of the Civil War! It was a WONDERFUL OPPORTUNITY!!! On the stage of the Phila Academy of Music, we sang the GETTYSBURG ADDRESS set to music, all four stanzas of the U.S. NATIONAL ANTHEM and this rendition of the BATTLE HYMN OF THE REPUBLIC! It was an experience I will never forget and I can still remember every word of every song. When in Washington DC, I love to go stand in front of President Lincoln's image, and recite back to him his Gettysburg Address. I feel very close to history and our wonderful country!

Everything I've read of him strikes me as a humble man who valued humility over grandeur. I'm not saying we should take down the statue or anything, it's our choice to revere him, not his to be revered, but i doubt lincoln himself would enjoy this as much as we do.

When I was a small child there was a PBS TV show called "the Big Blue Marble", which was about the rest of the world. After watching this show I use to wonder what I did to get to be an American! I have ALWAYS BEEN PROUD OF BEING AN AMERICAN. I have for the last 20 years or have not agreed with many of my government actions, and I have paid a very high personal prices for their decisions, but that had never caused me to end my belief in the Dreams that is the United States of America.

Awesome! Gives me goosebumps every time I see and hear this. ***** [HISTORY OF THE HYMN: During America's Civil War, Julia Ward Howe, the author of the "Battle Hymn of the Republic", was anguished by the growing conflict and internal strife amongst Americans and was inspired to write the hymn.] ***** The song seems so appropriate for this special occasion, with so much division and disharmony in the politics of the recent election. The hymn is revered by Americans and often sung in our churches. (LYRICS BELOW). The hymn's performance by the Army choir and USMC band is always inspiring and never fails to capture the spirit of American patriots. Whatever your political bent may be, if you're a true American patriot who wishes for America to succeed as a nation, you must appreciate this, just as President Abraham Lincoln did when he called out "play it again" after the hymn was performed at a rally. Glory, glory, Hallelujah! (COMPLETE LYRICS) Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord; he is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored; he hath loosed the fateful lightning of his terrible swift sword; his truth is marching on. Refrain: Glory, glory, hallelujah! Glory, glory, hallelujah! Glory, glory, hallelujah! His truth is marching on. I have seen him in the watchfires of a hundred circling camps, they have builded him an altar in the evening dews and damps; I can read his righteous sentence by the dim and flaring lamps; his day is marching on. (Refrain) He has sounded forth the trumpet that shall never call retreat; he is sifting out the hearts of men before his judgment seat; O be swift, my soul, to answer him; be jubilant, my feet! Our God is marching on. (Refrain) In the beauty of the lilies Christ was born across the sea, with a glory in his bosom that transfigures you and me; as he died to make men holy, let us die to make men free, while God is marching on. (Refrain) He is coming like the glory of the morning on the wave, he is wisdom to the mighty, he is honor to the brave; so the world shall be his footstool, and the soul of wrong his slave. Our God is marching on. (Refrain) Chorus: Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! His truth is marching on.

You missed a verse. This is between "seen Him in the watchfires" and "He has sounded forth the trumpet": I have read a fiery gospel writ in burnished rows of steel: "As ye deal with my contemners, so with you my grace shall deal"; Let the Hero, born of woman, crush the serpent with his heel, Since God is marching on. And of course, the verse that wasnt published (final verse after "beauty of the lilies): He is coming like the glory of the morning on the wave, He is Wisdom to the mighty, He is Succour to the brave, So the world shall be His footstool, and the soul of Time His slave, Our God is marching on.

Americans love winners, they love champions. The idea of winning is part of the American dna. What we love more than just a winner though is to see an underdog, one given up as beaten, come from out of nowhere, from way back to snatch victory out of the jaws of defeat... As Donald Trump went from underdog early in the evening to command the highest office in the land before dawn one could feel the excitement of a nation build to a crescendo. Good show Mr President, it was breathtaking to behold.
