Mark is so good at bringing in interesting combat mechanics. The Fate system and minion mechanics have been super fun to watch

Don't forget Vicious Mockery imposes disadvantage on the enemies next attack if they fail the save. Also Rowan rocks :)

Mark at the beginning of the episode "Killing the demons should not be your priority, the tower is your goal" The party: proceeds to spend all their turns attacking every single enemy on the battlefield 😂

I love battles like this, where there's a broader objective instead of it just being a slugfest. The turn limit just adds to the tension.

Mark, before this started, literally said killing these enemies is NOT what you're here for you must stop the tower light. What do they do? Proceed to fight EVERY creature. on. the. map.

Normally I listen to the podcast while driving to and from work. I had to come watch the video just to see this map!!

The worst enemy of high rollers is their poor memory. Rhi always forgets her new sword damage die and often forgets to add her Rage damage. Tom always forgets to add a d6 to his chaos bolt because he focuses too much on seeing if he activates the chain effect.

Would Daisy have thrown daggers with the crazy Zealot chick there I feel like there was a point made before where she wouldn't do that

knowing the context,that thumbnail is menacing

Although in their defense this is a difficult fight with a lot of moving parts. Still wish they were concentrating fire on no more than two targets

Moonbeam does damage on A turn not their turn. So will do damage on the cast and when it's their turn. More damage Kim! :) Chaos Bolt does 2d8+1d6 damage. So you can do more damage Tom! :) Just FYI.

I am unsure about the moonbeam ruling there. That might be a homebrew way of doing things.

Moonbeam does damage to a creature when that creature enters the beam for the first time on a turn, or if it starts its turn there; it does nothing *at all* on the turn of the caster casting it, because neither of those conditions are met (it does not deal damage when the beam appears - some spells do, and they say so, moonbeam is not one of them; the beam appearing is not the same as a creature entering the beam). If you cast it over a creature, that creature will take damage when and only when it *starts its own turn there*, not before, unless some other circumstance permits the creature to move outside of its turn, *and* it uses that to move out and then back in (in which case it would satisfy 'entering the beam for the first time on a turn', even though it's not its turn). It's a very commonly misruled spell, because a lot of folks don't feel like it's right to cast a spell on an enemy's position and have it do nothing initially - what ultimately matters is that everyone at the table playing agrees on how they want the spell to work.

Similar thing with Vicious Mockery. It has a secondary effect that gives the target disadvantage on their next attack roll before the end of their next turn. Better in most situations than mind sliver imo

I know that rules that are being used and all for the the followers but I feel like sirgriold as a champion of the realm what have a magical weapon like he's a big deal

The High Rollers crew needs to do more downtime activities and downtime this campaign! Also, I hope they do some faction mechanics like Mark did in Nights of Eveningstar.

Katie is ill and as such is not playing in the game at the moment. She was ill last week and still is this week.

I’m here again to remind everyone that casting order doesn’t matter. Shillelagh is a bonus action, you cannot use your action to cast a spell that uses a spell slot and a bonus action to cast a spell on the same turn. Cantrips are still spells and therefore must still follow the rules of bonus action spell casting.

Sorry dood but: Players Handbook Chapter 10 Page 202 "Casting a Spell" -> "Casting Time" -> "Bonus Action" says "...you can't cast another spell during the same turn, except for a cantrip..."

Counterpoint, many tables allow a bonus action cantrip and an action spell as a house rule.

@@crouchingmarker that’s fine. But that isn’t the default. Mark is pretty close to RAW on spellcasting, and he enforces the rule in other situations.
