Just a couple of hours with Gary makes a big difference. Really helped my son’s batting and my son booked me a couple of hours for a Father’s Day present. He breaks it down so well, hard work but easy to understand 👏🏻

Fantastic video. Gary is a world class coach whose methods have been successful with a countless number of players at all levels. Being slightly open allows you to play straighter with balance and helps you avoid falling over to the off-side. Technique is everything in batting (despite with others may tell you) and Gary is one of the best in the business. Keep up this great content.

Having seen the technical quality of the young players Gary produces, his methods and approach needs to be looked at seriously. Cook scored big runs after sessions with him, as did Sibley and Masood, to name a few. Test by results - all the youngsters have solid techniques and as they learn the game, they develop into scoring decent runs. All from a foundation of solid technique..!

We've been working with Gary for many years and every player who has bought into his methodology has come out noticeably improved in a very short space of time. It's great to see Gary now has an app too which I am sure will help more players access his ABC's of batting and much more.

I had a session for the first time today; a great level of expertise, explained well. I have taken away a lot of information to use out in the middle. Thank you and see you soon!

From my experience in cricket the only time I received batting coaching was in a brief 10 minute group net situation, whether at school, club or county level. Gary’s one to one coaching methods make so much sense as he is focussed solely on you for longer net session periods where your hitting a hundred plus balls in a session, thus having time to input his technical methods and develop your batting.

I'm not a good batter. Tend to come in late middle order for my club. But opening my stance made a huge difference. When I was completely side on (as I had been taught, and played for 40 years) I would struggle to access the on side, struggle with simple shots like the clip off the legs and the pull, and worse of all I would miss-hit too many straight shots. Skewing them generally off the outside edge. Once I opened my stance I seemed to see the ball earlier. Definitely judged length a lot earlier (possibly getting better focus from both eyes earlier? I don't know) Weirdly, played a lot straighter. My onside game went from zero to pretty good. It also encouraged me to stand more upright. Though I do still crouch a little to spinners who loop it. That's a bad habit I want to get out of. It means I'm always waiting to play the ball after it's pitched. Sitting back crouched waiting to see if it moves then reacting defensively. That seems a decent tactic on a raging bunsen, but I can't get out of the habit of doing it even on flat tracks, and I miss out on a lot of runs (i think)

I am absolutely terrible at batting now. Ball always seems to spit up at my hip and hit my pads. Can't get anything away. Tried opening my stance but it does nothing for me. I'm just bad.

What confuses me is that regardless of whether you have an open stance Toby Radford’s and many other respected batting coaches advocate keeping the back foot parallel to the popping crease when playing front foot drives 😖

I used to coach that when I did the advanced course at Lilleshall. Coaching moves on and Palmer has found a better way of getting the head forward. I was skeptical to start with, but having watched Kohli, Stokes and many other modern day batters all turn their back foot in when driving. Try it…and test by results

@@richardgreatorex780 tried it today with the bowling machine…definitely felt better able to get my head to the ball and play later. Helped me to get across Ross my pads for the on drive and turning the ball through midwicket too 😁
