I'm gonna be real, The Grim Knight is a way more interesting take on the Evil Batman that the Batman Who Laughs. Like Ben said, the Batman who Laughs is a cool drawing, Grim Knight is a fucking character. I would have preferred if The Grim Knight was the main villain of a mulitverse Batman story, instead of Batman who Laughs.

Read detective comics 500, the phantom stranger helps Batman save the Wayne’s, nothing bad happened afterwards besides crisis on infinite earths. And Bruce still becomes Batman. It always disappointed me no one remembers that story.

Overexposed is the perfect way to explain it. I mean, Alternate reality versions of our main Superheroes, especially DC Heroes, are almost always fun and exciting. _The Batman Who Laughs_ and the other _Dark Knights,_ are even more exciting than most... But they've burned everyone out on him. If it went from _Metal_ and then he was not used again until _Death Metal,_ people would have never stopped losing their minds over how much they loved him.

I found a used copy of _Contagion_ like a year ago and somehow I still haven't gotten around to reading it. If it shows-up on -Bat Issues- Back Issues, I might just have to finally read the damn thing.

I personally love that he’s called the Batman who laughs cuz it’s a reference to “Batman: The Man Who Laughs” which is supposed to be the first time Batman fought the joker after Year One.

It really isn't. He's a Batman who laughs like the Joker as opposed to the other Batman who doesn't. It's also a reference to The Man who Laughs. It's real simple.

Because the Joker is called the Man Who Laughs, he should kept being called that? No. He should be called the Joker because it's short, concise, indicative of the character, and I don't get tired saying it 10 times in a row.

The Batman Who Laughs is an interesting 1 off character. He’s being extremely over used rn and it’s really annoying. His presence overshadowed the other Dark Knights that imo were more interesting; like Dawnbreaker.

Agreed. TBWL definitely was *the* breakout character from Dark Knights Metal and deserved a follow up, but it kinda felt like multiple writers latched onto him or the editors threw him into a bunch of different stories in the hope to solidify him as a new villain, so it feels like he's quickly been oversaturated instead of having one single "Oh SHIT, he's back" story. IMO TBWL should've been kept to one additional appearance post-Metal for now and experiment with some of the other characters in other ways, or introduce other Dark Multiverse related stuff to try and construct a similar success story to TBWL. Dawnbreaker and Red Death could easily be reoccuring villains and would be interesting (it definitely felt weird how Dawnbreaker was kinda swept under the rug considering his massive implications), and there's no end to the other Dark Multiverse characters you could introduce aside from Batman variations.

But they just keep showing us TBWL because “crazy Batman is so cool”. People say he’s a cool drawing but I don’t even think that, he’s just a punk rock version of Batman.

This was actually the first comic I've ever bought in floppies as it came out. It didn't meet all my hopes for it sadly, but it was still a fun read. Plus the variant covers were incredible.

I was fine with the whole death gas into Joker thing it the one shot because it was an alternate universe, but having that be a thing in the main universe is the stupidest idea they had to do with Joker and ruins the Joker as a character for me. Aside from his bleached skin and hair, Joker is just a regular guy who was driven insane by one bad day. It’s the same problem I have with Arkham Knight.

Yeah but hes also apparently a genius level intellect who created his own themed chemical agent and weapons and routinely anticipates and out thinks the worlds greatest detective. Having that dead mans switch last laugh plan actually seems pretty par for the course for him.

I think it's kinda a way to explain that there will always be a joker. It seams to base off the fact that joker is a cosmic force that some people like to push or that the character is bigger than what he is. It reminds me of the whole Darkseid black hole, it's a thing that fans can say as a reason why you can't do X in comics.

To be fair, in Arkham knight, the joker’s blood was contaminated with an experimental chemical whose full effects have not been completely tested. Did they at least say that in the Batman who laughs comic?

I’m probably the minority in this but Batman who laughs, Joker war, white knight, The Bain event that just happened, have all just been border line in readable. I mean like 1960’s stupid in some cases. What happened to just solid stories? Again, I may the minority but that’s how I feel.

Well that ending makes sense. Ending stuff below If all of these other Batmen are from the Dark Multiverse, they're the results of Batman failing in some way. They said so in Metal. So, yeah, Batman Who Laughs is a weaker version of himself.

Scott Snyder's profound misunderstanding of Morrison's run pisses me off so much. There IS no Barbatos. It's some dumb bullshit Dr. Hurt came up with to try to understand the Hyper-Adapter within the occultist framework in which he lives his life.

The best “What if Batman was the Joker” story is Nemesis by Mark Millar and Steve McNiven. Things are taken too far in that comic, but Scott Snyder has no real plan and the red lettering on black speech bubbles is hard to read at times.

A Mortal Engines Gotham would be pretty dope I have to admit. The ultimate predator city.

I'm always so baffled when people unronically put BWlol's in their top Ten Batman villain list - he's popular but I don't think he's earned that spot yet

There is an issue somewhere, (I think it may be by Grant Morrison) which shows Batman uses a polyphasic sleep pattern , having trained his brain to intentionally go into microsleeps while studying or working on the Bat Computer, and so is able to avoid a normal sleep cycle, ease his mind, and aid in his problem-solving skills.

I've been watching since Black Mirror: This Series is my comic therapy even during very Crazy Times. When hero's are supposed to protect us and have resulted in becoming our worst villains. When we are fighting an alien micro virus organism we engineered. When people try to turn on each other over toilet paper. I remember the colors and stories I have known from here on this channel and life. I remember Batman!
