when I was a little girl, somewhere in 1996 it was my favorite video. Happiness was when I got on it on TV (modern children will not understand what it is, when you wait hours your favorite stuff)). Two years later I saw a clip of Michael Jackson and was sure he covered this masterpiece 😆

(Hör-)buchempfehlung: Benjamin von Stuckred-Barre - Panikherz. Da kommen die Bates immer wieder mal am Rande vor, vor allem die Anfänge und dann auch der Tod von Zimbl. Gutes Buch, hat mich auf die Band gebracht.

Seeing Zimbl in this video i just can t believe he is not alive anylonger. He looked that much cool in this video i very wished they would have made a remake of Psycho with him!!!!!!

This band should have been much more appreciated. Zimbls voice is hauntingly unique and extrordinary. I think sadly he never reached his full potential, but still had a voice many envy. Gone much to soon,, like all who are strong enough to be themselves, and not conform to something there not. R.I.P mate.

Ich muss gestehen, dass ich diese Band, bis vor 6 Tagen nicht kannte. Habe mich durch gehört und finde alle Lieder sehr sehr geil! Billie Jean ist das absolute Meisterwerk. Schade das ich Band vor 20 Jahren nicht kannte und sehr schade das der Sänger es übertrieben hat

Ende der 90er sind sie immer am 25./26. Dezember in der Batschkapp in Ffm aufgetreten. Da musste man sich nicht mit der buckligen Verwandtschaft treffen 😂👍 Das waren tolle Konzerte!

Mir tut Reb leid. Heute ist er (Vertretungs) Lehrer an Berliner Schulen und wird von den Schülern geärgert. Hoffe das er und die anderen ein comeback hinlegen und wieder ein wenig erfolgreich werden. (Und ja er hat uns alles über die Band und die Auftritter erzählt. Cooler Typ auf jeden fall)

JuliBro33 in der 6 klasse hatte ich ihn als Computer - AG Lehrer in kassel , sehr netter und cooler Typ. Hatten damals mit e-Jay2 glaube war das weiß nicht mehr genau Beats gemacht ^^ und hat uns auch alles erzählt , einer der besten , liebsten und coolsten Menschen den ich kennenlernen durfte

....UND dann auch noch die GENIALE Idee, die Story des Songs mit der Story aus PSYCHO zu verbinden und neu zu interpretieren (was teilweise sogar passt, ist mir vorher noch nie aufgefallen) UND dann im Musikvideo den Film nachzustellen, und das Video anscheinend sogar in der original Filmkulisse zu drehen.....WOW, ich bin (positiv) fassungslos!!! Das ist total genial, einfach geil!!!!!!

Well, whatever you think about cover-version but this is one of the best cover version of any song I know. Not only a 1:1 cover but also a good interpretation. Was very popular in Germany, where the Bates are from. Pretty much everybody above 20 knows and likes that song there. Just recently saw a coverband that cover this cover... no kidding!

Eurodance was great, I loved it so much and my best memories are forever with that music, but in 1997 I began to listen to Ozzy Osbourne like crazy and switched to guitar music (because Eurodance ceased to exist).

this is no question an INGENIOUS video! it's based on the classic horror movie "Psycho" from 1960 and was shot in original rebuildings of the Psycho house and Bates motel in the desert of the USA. it was surely more expensive and more elaborate than the original video...!!

Ich war 22 oder 23 Jahre alt, als das Billie Jean Cover erschien. Zu dem Zeitpunkt war ich schon lange Fan von The Bates. 2nd Skin war das letzte Album, das ich als CD gekauft habe. Es gibt bis heute keine andere Band oder Einzelsänger, von der/dem ich mehr Alben besitze als von The Bates. Bei Wiki steht eine Live CD, die ich habe, als "Video-Album" drin. Zumindest vermute ich, dass der Live-Auftritt im Outpost in Göttingen damit gemeint ist. Des Weiteren besitze ich eine der wenigen CDs, die als Promotion an DJs von Rock-Diskotheken in der näheren Umgebung abgegeben wurde: Independent Love Song. Um es mit den Worten von Sheldon Cooper zu sagen: ich besitze die DNA von Zimbl! Der DJ meiner damaligen Stamm-Diskothek hatte mir die CD versprochen, da er wusste, dass ich ein The Bates Fan war. The Bates kannte man dort nur wegen des Billie Jean Covers. Der DJ sah The Bates nur als unbekannte Band an. Zu etwa derselben Zeit erhielt er auch eine CD von Fury in the Slaughterhouse. Die hat er für sich behalten :D

Das Video zu diesem genialen Song ist offensichtlich schon wieder massiv umgeschnitten worden! Ich habe zwei frühere Version gesehen, da war von der Duschszene erheblich mehr zu sehen - in der ersten version noch mehr, die zweite Fassung war bereits "entschärft". Jetzt ist von dem Mord unter der Dusche fast gar nichts mehr vorhanden.

Broke my nose on one of their concerts. Regret nothing, because it was so bloody worth it.
Ich muss gestehen, dass ich diese Band, bis vor 6 Tagen nicht kannte. Habe mich durch gehört und finde alle Lieder sehr sehr geil! Billie Jean ist das absolute Meisterwerk. Schade das ich Band vor 20 Jahren nicht kannte und sehr schade das der Sänger es übertrieben hat

Hab sie live gesehen in einer kleinen Klitsche in Krefeld. Sie waren toll. Ich glaube, das war um 2000 herum.

Ende der 90er sind sie immer am 25./26. Dezember in der Batschkapp in Ffm aufgetreten. Da musste man sich nicht mit der buckligen Verwandtschaft treffen 😂👍 Das waren tolle Konzerte!

Mir tut Reb leid. Heute ist er (Vertretungs) Lehrer an Berliner Schulen und wird von den Schülern geärgert. Hoffe das er und die anderen ein comeback hinlegen und wieder ein wenig erfolgreich werden. (Und ja er hat uns alles über die Band und die Auftritter erzählt. Cooler Typ auf jeden fall)

JuliBro33 in der 6 klasse hatte ich ihn als Computer - AG Lehrer in kassel , sehr netter und cooler Typ. Hatten damals mit e-Jay2 glaube war das weiß nicht mehr genau Beats gemacht ^^ und hat uns auch alles erzählt , einer der besten , liebsten und coolsten Menschen den ich kennenlernen durfte

....UND dann auch noch die GENIALE Idee, die Story des Songs mit der Story aus PSYCHO zu verbinden und neu zu interpretieren (was teilweise sogar passt, ist mir vorher noch nie aufgefallen) UND dann im Musikvideo den Film nachzustellen, und das Video anscheinend sogar in der original Filmkulisse zu drehen.....WOW, ich bin (positiv) fassungslos!!! Das ist total genial, einfach geil!!!!!!

Such a great cover! They were famous for making their cover songs sound even better than the original ones (beside many great own compositions of course). Miss them a lot.

Well, whatever you think about cover-version but this is one of the best cover version of any song I know. Not only a 1:1 cover but also a good interpretation. Was very popular in Germany, where the Bates are from. Pretty much everybody above 20 knows and likes that song there. Just recently saw a coverband that cover this cover... no kidding!

Eurodance was great, I loved it so much and my best memories are forever with that music, but in 1997 I began to listen to Ozzy Osbourne like crazy and switched to guitar music (because Eurodance ceased to exist).
They nailed the vibe... and the singer looks ridiculously like Norman Bates.
Someone should say it: way better than the original.

das ist echte musik!!!!! das müsste man vielen in meinem alter(15) mal vorspielen damit die das ganze techno zeug vegtessen. es ist einfach der wow-effekt da wenn man diese stimme hört. danke an zimbl für das was du uns mit deiner musik hinterlassen hast

A lot better than the original, this cover stands out as one of the best covers ever created. It has got everything needed: rhythm, power, and an incredibly forceful perfomance.
this is no question an INGENIOUS video! it's based on the classic horror movie "Psycho" from 1960 and was shot in original rebuildings of the Psycho house and Bates motel in the desert of the USA. it was surely more expensive and more elaborate than the original video...!!

Ich war 22 oder 23 Jahre alt, als das Billie Jean Cover erschien. Zu dem Zeitpunkt war ich schon lange Fan von The Bates. 2nd Skin war das letzte Album, das ich als CD gekauft habe. Es gibt bis heute keine andere Band oder Einzelsänger, von der/dem ich mehr Alben besitze als von The Bates. Bei Wiki steht eine Live CD, die ich habe, als "Video-Album" drin. Zumindest vermute ich, dass der Live-Auftritt im Outpost in Göttingen damit gemeint ist. Des Weiteren besitze ich eine der wenigen CDs, die als Promotion an DJs von Rock-Diskotheken in der näheren Umgebung abgegeben wurde: Independent Love Song. Um es mit den Worten von Sheldon Cooper zu sagen: ich besitze die DNA von Zimbl! Der DJ meiner damaligen Stamm-Diskothek hatte mir die CD versprochen, da er wusste, dass ich ein The Bates Fan war. The Bates kannte man dort nur wegen des Billie Jean Covers. Der DJ sah The Bates nur als unbekannte Band an. Zu etwa derselben Zeit erhielt er auch eine CD von Fury in the Slaughterhouse. Die hat er für sich behalten :D
Das Video zu diesem genialen Song ist offensichtlich schon wieder massiv umgeschnitten worden! Ich habe zwei frühere Version gesehen, da war von der Duschszene erheblich mehr zu sehen - in der ersten version noch mehr, die zweite Fassung war bereits "entschärft". Jetzt ist von dem Mord unter der Dusche fast gar nichts mehr vorhanden.
