It is unfortunate that the bats had to find another place to roost, but it is far more important to safeguard the health and safety of the families living in these homes.

It makes you sad because you don't understand. Allowing bats in your home / attic is dangerous to your health. They will find another home and be fine, and your family won't have to deal with guano. It's the right thing to do for both the bats and people. This isn't bat killing, it's just displacing them to where it is more healthy for them and us. So, I don't know why this could possibly make you sad.
