That's because school is more like a machine than an educator. It is designed to teach people to obey rules and memorize and regurgitate information rather than teaching them how to explore and truly have an interest in learning. I like to think of it as "learning how to learn" and I did hardly any of it in school.

"July of the year 2019." I can feel everyone's collective sigh after hearing that. We really had no idea what we were in for. Also I have the violent urge to treat this video like a lesson at college, taking notes and going away to do my own research; it's super interesting stuff.

I've said it a few times but I genuinely belive most dislikes arnt over the actual content (what your actually doing or saying except in the case of music or mass disliked videos like rewind) it's more about sound quality, video resolution and other things that take them out a experiance or make something they would actually like unbearable

Um, sometimes, I am thinking of the opposite. Those who are downvoting, are the ones who have disagreed with this. Which there is nothing wrong with disagreeing. Hmm, ASMR is not really a good taste to some of those who dislike this video. Maybe also astronomy.

Man, I'm trying to go to sleep on friday the 13th, 4 years to the day of my fathers passing, the night before my birthday. Still alone, still unaccomplished and depressed. My passions are much like yours, philosophy, mathematics, history, science, physics and music. I have been reading the stoics lately and have always had a huge passion for cosmology and understanding the universe. While I myself am alone, ironically I do not feel alone when I think about the cosmos. I am truly grateful for the geniuses who dedicated their lives to knowledge and that is very comforting. To know that I am at least a part of a species who has walked on the moon, risked everything for exploration and knowledge. I am so proud to be human. Thank you for this video, it's just what I needed.

So I have to ask you Ember: Are (or were) you often studying for exams in the middle of the night not too long ago? I wonder if, in college or something, you accidentally trained yourself to resist the urge of sleeping when you're intellectually engaged.

@@FilipePhoenix Between 4th grade and 2nd year of college it was a normal every-day thing for me to stay very late doing homework. I suffered from extreme case of maladaptive daydreaming which was making it impossible to focus, making me do every single homework assignment for hours, no matter how simple. And at night I was suffering from axiety and insomnia and for years I'd get 2-4 hours of sleep tops. It was a nightmare.

I can imagine the flyer "Tonight's lineup: Smashing Pumpkins, Munchausen by Proxy, and Maladaptive Daydreaming" 🤔 I also suffer from anxiety and insomnia. @@lakemichigan52 it’s said to be infinite cuz it’s easier to say that then actually explain what’s happening. Space keeps expanding at insane amounts of speed so technically it is infinite but at the same time not cuz if you went at an VERY impossible speed you could reach the end of space.

It's interesting how as you were talking i remember that when i was 12 and i learned about geometry i completely love it. As an aspiring Astrophysicist and simultaneously a stressed 10th grader with a spanish exam tomorrow, I needed both my daily dose of lil space facts and relaxation today-

My science teacher from the school had a very relaxing and sleep-inducing voice. No, not boring (although some classmates had this exact opinion), but his voice just hit some frequencies that made everyone's eyelids heavy. I loved this man, really. It's rare to see a person of his age to be so passionate about his subject and teaching as a whole, he was happy to answer every question and his eyes would shine if he saw that we got what he said. You kinda remind me of him, but younger.

Worked an 11 hour shift , gonna let this asmr take me to dreamland 😎

When the universe comes to an end. Eventually gravity stops the expansion of the universe and contacts or as you say "recycling" itself, it's also known as the big crunch. However Black holes is a tough subject and we don't know much about them just theories and speculation. But I don't think a black hole would be able to swallow the universe as a black hole would have to be in the universe to do so. However I could be wrong. 😀

“2019” Moments before disaster 😮‍💨lol. I’m glad I’m coming back to these videos though. At 19 I neglected math because I wasn’t very good at it. Now I have a new profound respect for it and currently I am working towards getting a STEM degree. Everyone now says I’m a nerd and just really smart at math. All I did was apply myself at school. Funny how life works at times, I’d never thought the day would come when I was the smart one in the room when it comes to math.

I’ve got an astronomy final that I barely studied for in 9 hours. I shall be listening to this whilst finishing all the class work I have to finish still.

Oh Rich...that voice. The astronomy brought me to you but now I don't care what the subject is as long as it's your soothing soft spoken voice. It just knocks me out. I can't listen to anyone else since discovering your channel. I absolutely love the "umm". Thank you for all of the time and effort you dedicate to us.

Im very happy this popped up on my recommended lol I love astrophysics/astrology and astronomy. In ASMR form though? I cant get enough of it! Youre great!

Over a year late but this.. mmm.. my ears have been blessed. I spent so long trying to find the right Asmr to listen to and I really didn't expect this to be the one I found the most soothing

I just found this in my recommended and I must say ur content is amazing. Great way to relax and learn something new, definitely subscribed 👍🏻

This is the most relaxing and entertaining way to learn astronomy .

I like to read book while listening to asmr but this is completely new, this will be my new go-to asmr channel for sleeping/relaxing/reading
