The Barn Find 426 HEMI GTX and yard FULL of Mopars
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Clay and Sons Mopar recycling yard in Missouri is always full of amazing vehicles. They recently rescued a bunch of cool cars including a real 1968 Hemi GTX 4-speed car, with the original Hemi and everything still there!

Wish I could find something like that up here in Canada.
Wow nice cars
Wow, last time I was down to see Clay and the boys was in 1992 to pick up a rusty crusty 340 just to use the block and maybe the head castings for a stroker motor I was building then and Clay was still working so it was an evening visit and was getting dark when we arrived. They have really expanded or just cleared trees. I know in 1992 there were cars as far as you could see out in the trees. Back in the early 90's a friend bought a 1970 Super Bee off Clay that had been bought new and raced, engine blown up and replaced at the dealership with a 440, the car only had about 8K miles on it at the time.

Over the last 50 years i have learned one thing...cars laying outside in the weather never remain as cars laying out in the weather. they eventually become worthless rusty scrap vaguely resembling what they once were. I am surprised most of these cars are just sitting there , or maybe not so surprised having met many owners over the years who thought there rusty old machinery was gold plated.

Most of the shine has gone off the muscle car market as those of us who were teens back then get older and some are no longer capable of driving. if they don't sell those soon they are doomed.

There is another Mopar Only salvage yard located just north of Anderson, Alabama on 207 "They only sell parts"! My parents had a 1968 Plymouth GTX Convertible with a 440 and auto trans! They were second owners and had bought it from a friend that drove all the way to California from Indiana to purchase it new! He blew the engine and sold it to my dad for $400 with less than 10k miles on it! They also had a Ford Fairlane Cobra Fastback with the 428 super cobra jet! The car his friend replaced that GTX with was a 1969 Chevy Chevelle with Cowl Induction which he bought from California as well!

And they’d rot in your yard just like the other guy. With the standard pipe dreams of restoration or “it’ll do 200 mile an hour ounce it’s run in’ so I’m askin’ a hunred Gran”. A local guy died with 16 1950-56 pickups. I’d seen and made offered since I was twelve. They rusted away to scrap. His kids had them crushed and hauled off. 🤢

Thinking back I wish I would have chose a big block Mopar to have as a classic car. In 1985 I ended up with a 66 Mustang that I still have today. Being a "dime a dozen" the plain Mustang coupe didn't increase in value like big block muscle cars. I would be lucky to get 5 or 6K out of it. In 1985 I paid 2600 for it. With good bodywork and paint I might get 8 or 9. The engine in the GTX is worth more than that. LOL. Back then you could get a very nice big block car for $4 to 6K.

You would think the owner worked at the Mopar plant having all those cars.😉 I know a guy by the name of Nipper that has a lot of Mopar muscle cars. Thanks for the video! Mopar or no car! Good things aren't cheap and cheap things aren't Mopars!

True that, depending on the car, you could spend upwards of $50,000 to restore it, of course, that being a rotisserie restoration from a rather rotted car, but still.
That car is the business.
