well, victory, and maybe a bit of stony dust and burnt guinea pigs.
Let's not forget that, out of everyone in the crew, Snake is the most experienced. He's the oldest, and has been doing this virtually his whole life. His self-interest made his double-cross believable, but despite being a stubborn old goat, it's perfectly in character for him to listen to his gut instinct, probably the only thing that kept him alive before teaming up with Wolf. Really, they played him absolutely perfectly.

Wolf is the most charismatic and crafty, but not the most experienced. A comment from the Mayor was enough to get him bent out of shape and Marmalade played him like a fiddle. It's too easy to get under his skin. Plus he shows pretty clearly that, without his gang or some kind of backup, he's not much more than your typical con artist. Snake, on the other hand, played both Marmalade and the rest of the bad guys, tricking them all and predicted more or less what they'd do in order to execute his own scheme. All without breaking a sweat. He had every detail in mind, right down to the big reveal. So, while Wolf is definitely the mastermind and leader, Snake's got him beat in his own ways.

@@jtduran5790 Most of the master strokes in the film played off knowing how every character involved would act. Wolf, Diane and Marmalade, the main manipulators in the story, all take turns making fools of themselves because of their gained hubris and assuming their pawns were idiots (though Wolf and Diane do mature, any gambit revolved around them and their team works out because they're close). Snake ended up the big chessmaster in the end because he not only knew how EVERY character would behave, but how they would expect HIM to behave, ie. be the evil lackey. Of course Wolf is the exception to this, and so he was the one who set off Snake's turn in the first place.
I love how Wolf just casually walks around professor Marmalade and pats him twice on the head.

I love how Wolf completely beat Marmalade at his own game. Marmalade manipulated people's 'goodness' to make them halfway servicable pawns he could betray later on. Wolf inconspicuously brought out people's 'goodness' for their sake, and as a result they one by one thanked him via their own agency in astonishing ways. A total inverse of good guys only winning through boring speeches and determination. Remember this all started with a map and a push pop.

Professor Marmalade: Wolf, you and your friends would stab me in the back?! Wolf: You did it to us first.
I love this double-cross scene cuz unlike many other scenes like this, it doesn't came out of nowhere. You can pick up everything that happens in the reveal during the mansion and the final chase scenes: 1. He turns the mind-controlling device on and wasted time talking with Marmalede in order to buy more time for the switch. 2. Snake still have the mind control device on when Marmalede ran after the Bad Guys after they've stolen the meteorite in order to make the switch. 3. The guinea pigs can still be mind-controlled because he put the meteorite back to the transmitter, not because they were near it. This level of detail shows how good of a movie it was. I wish more movies were like this.
@austinfeng735

especially that last part, it just kinda flies over your head once it is revealed midway through the earlier scene that the pigs are still mind controlled, and that got dealt with, but actually it's a clue. they were still able to be controlled cause the meteorite was still there
I loved so much snake tasting the air with his tongue when that explosion occurred. Such a tiny detail but he's savoring that victory moment.

0:21 I was actually shocked about this scene. I guess Mr. Wolf and his friends felt like they've accomplished their objective that they turned themselves in and can serve their prison sentence in peace. Mr. Wolf and his friends proved that they didn't steal the meteorite but he and his friends pulled off a lot of heists that he stole a lot, not just money and treasures and Mr. Wolf decided to give everything back as a sign that he truly changed and that he's done robbing and stealing from everybody plus it's a sign that he's apologizing to everyone for stealing and robbing them. You know Mr. Wolf and his friends leaving the life of crime behind and becoming good guys beginning their new crime-fighting careers was a satisfying ending after Mr. Wolf and his friends just served one-year in a federal penitentiary. But I'm guessing in the sequel there's a moral lesson that not only crime doesn't pay and also when Mr. Wolf and his friends leave the world of crime behind, the world of crime doesn't forget him and his friends so Marmalade won't forget Mr. Wolf and his friends.

3:25 Snake definitely tasting the air of victory due to his ballsy scheme he pulled. What he did took a lot of guts. Marmalade’s overconfidence is what led to his defeat. If this film gets a sequel I am curious on what the storyline would be. Maybe it could be set like 3-5 years after the Bad Guys served their prison sentence. @@balto76bourque51 I wholeheartedly agree that The Bad Guys by DreamWorks should win Best Animated Oscar. It has a heartfelt message of redemption and anti-racism plus all the comedy a DreamWorks movie can bring. Plus it’s a step in the right direction to de-stigmatize Wolves, Sharks, Spiders/Tarantulas, Snakes and Piranhas. And it would greatly please me to see Dixar lose.

@@TPDManiacXC626 Hey! I still love Pixar but if Lightyear beats this film then I will sue the Academy Award Board for life after all The Bad Guys won the Truly Moving Picture Award that's the only Award it won so far
After seeing Marmalade's manipulation being used against him is such a win in this movie. It really helps showing everyone praise him bring back the "metorite" before Snake's Shawshank-styled plot play though. Absolutely loved every second of it. ESPECIALLY Marmalade's flabbergasted expression after the explosion.
3:08 To quote a very wise tiger from Calvin and Hobbes: "It's that moment of dawning comprehension that I live for."
No wonder why Mr Snake is smart, clever but at the same time scary .
Just like in Wreck It-Ralph, they're bad guys but that doesn't mean they're BAD Guys.

The way he had that LOOK on his face was amazing and his hat staying on too make it look awesome.
Fun fact: The police chief is voiced by the same actress who plays Lois Griffin.

See guys Mr. Snake was being your man on the inside. He just kept his plan a secret till the end.
He's dressed like Johnny Depp in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. It's so great!
I so love Marmalades face. He’s just like “Wha…. But… I….”
I love the detail of him rubbing off his tail when marmalade shook it

One thing I don’t understand. I know Marmalade was framed as The Crimson Paw with the Diamond. But was Snake’s plan supposed to have exposed his theft of the meteorite too? Did he get arrested for that too? If so, then how did it prove his guilt? Was it because of the explosion’s location that everyone knew was the professor’s base? Was it because the Golden Dolphin (which he had) fell in from the explosion? Or was Marmalade only arrested for the Diamond and The Switcheroo was just to prevent him from using the meteorite’s power again?

The switcheroo was to prevent professor marmalade to use the meteorite power again, the fact that the golden dolphin statue fell on the lamp and made pf marmalade fall and loose the zimpengo diamond was probably a mere coincidence

Technicality wean it was discovered that the thing they wear running around with was a lamp it cast doubt on the theft as a whole. Their subsequent surrender, returning all other stolen goods, and adamant refusal to claim responsibility for the meteorite and the lack of evidence with its destruction, combined with the admission of guilt, and the Governor giving a character witness, they got a reduced sentence.

Basically, yeah, you got it: Snake's plan was meant to both expose Marmalade as a liar (via the beam of the explosion clearly coming from Marmalade's own home instead of the compound he claimed he was taking it to) and destroy the meteorite so Marmalade or anybody like him couldn't get their grubby little hands on it. Blowing up Marmalade's house was just the cherry on top. The Golden Dolphin took care of the rest.

The moral lessons of The Bad Guys are crime doesn't pay, how one good deed and taking responsibility for one's actions can lead to positive outcomes, and knowing who your real friends are. Mr. Wolf and his friends pulled off various heists but there's more trouble than benefit from the heists they pull off even though having the cops chase them makes the heist fun. Mr. Wolf giving everything he stole back is a sign that he's done robbing people, apologizing to the people he robbed, and starting to leave the life of crime behind and entering a good life upon serving one year in a federal penitentiary. Finally Mr. Wolf thought that Marmalade was his friend but Marmalade screwed over Mr. Wolf and his friends. His friends Mr. Snake, Mr. Shark, Mr. Piranha, and Ms. Tarantula leaving Mr. Wolf after breaking out of prison because of what Mr. Wolf said and Mr. Wolf after Diane cheered him up realizes that Diane was his true friend and Diane when she became governor she didn't have any friends until she met Mr. Wolf and when she met him he was the first and true friend Diane made, Diane reassured that Mr. Wolf is doing the right thing and that his friends Mr. Snake, Mr. Shark, Mr. Piranha, and Ms. Tarantula if they're real friends, they'll understand so Diane was Mr. Wolf's true friend and later on Mr. Snake, Mr. Shark, Mr. Piranha, and Ms. Tarantula are also Mr. Wolf's true friends.
Can we all just take a moment to appreciate how natural they made it look at 3:40 for Mr. Snake to have his arms crossed?
