The Backside Air | Jeff Grosso's Loveletters To Skateboarding | VANS
Спорт
Jeff Grosso's Loveletters to Skateboarding - The Backside Air, is the 1st episode of the 6th season.
The backside is one of the building blocks of getting rad. It’s so basic that most don’t give it the credit it deserves. In this episode Jeff sits down with the pioneers of the Bionic Air and schools some of the kids who are taking airs to the next level.

RIP Jeff. One of my favorite episodes of loveletters
I still remember the day I learned how to do back to back backside airs going higher and higher each time. Best feeling ever!

ErgoCogita that just happened to me
Miller deserves as much credit as Hosoi for "stylizing" airs. He tweaked & contorted like no other. We never said "tweak air", we said "nose-bone" or "tail-bone", "cross-bone" or "boned out" in general.
I am 60 years old and and what upsets me more about my skating from back in the day was my backside airs. I could barely do them and barely out but I could launch frontside airs all day long. That bums me out! RIP Jeff❤🤙
Hey Vans and Jeff G., just gotta say, you're doing a serious service to skateboarding by documenting these points and people- and putting this history out to the world. Respect- and thank you. *A.

I used to hate that line but damn now that I skate bigger ramps I fuckin feel it
I really fucking love these letters! I've been eating ramen noodles all week to save enough money to buy the Grosso guest deck that Shipyard Skates made, hopefully one day I can meet the man himself and get it signed (I'm not usually into autographs but that one would go up on the wall for sure). Thank you Jeff, for everything you do.
Dope video, guys. Thanks for posting. At 38, I'm in the generation of skaters right after you guys and it's tough to be the old guy at the skatepark sometimes. It's nice to connect with the history of it from time to time.

Glad love letters came back ❤️
Thanks for the history lesson..some people need it
Going through and watching all these again. I think I need to write a LoveLetter to LoveLetters in an upcoming episode of my show. Making a note now.
Of course TH was the ultimate trickster (innovator, inventor) but Hosoi & Miller, especially showed us the importance & ultra-coolness of being stylish & unique, not to mention aggro, bionic, GNARLY.
ABOUT TIME !!!!
I just ordered a reissue and a new pair of old school vans. Thanks a lot.
The letters have taught me everything I need to know about skatings history!
I was missing the love letters glad its back 😊
Welcome back!!!
We miss you Grosso
dedicated to JEFF GROSSO!!!!
Finally more love letters!💌
I live in the middle of the fucking Midwest. The area I live in is like a black hole for vertical skating. Back in the 80s vert was everywhere but now all I dream about is a backside air on vert and no vert around its like a bad dream. One of these years I will win lottery and build my own.
I remember my first good backside air, at Skatetime on the Clownrap. (Early Grab) haha. It felt good anyway! WhatUp Jeff Grosso from Dallas, TX
Get some Beers and a pack of friends. Blast some tunes!…. High backside Airs! 🤙🍺🍺
watched it 3 times so far and fit in time to skate a backyard bowl
I remember watching little Hosoi, riding for Sims I believe, he had the one with a fingerprint as a graphic, he was going over the fence in the holiday bowl at the Colton Ranch. Was way bio...
Fucking thank you vans and grosso.
this has been inspiring ahaha
Awesome episode, i've watched it a few times and it hypes me up for a skate every time. Maybe a little too much today though, i tried a backside air somewhere i had no business trying, ate shit and i think i rebroke my wrist as it had only healed from being broken a month and a half ago hahahahaha. Anyways keep up the awesome show guys, its Gnarly as fuck!

Polar Bear from Venice was possibly the first successful backside air. This is Adam (Freeballs), an old friend of Buddy and Rick's.
