THIS STORY:
The Axeman of New Orleans was an unidentified American serial killer active in New Orleans, Louisiana, and surrounding communities, from May 1918 to October 1919. He mainly targeted Italian immigrants and Italian-Americans.
The Axeman was never identified, and the murders remain unsolved.

THESE TOURS:
The Historic Cemeteries of New Orleans are historically and culturally distinctive in that they are an amalgam of the French, Spanish, and Caribbean historical influences on the city of New Orleans in addition to limitations resulting from the city's high water table. The cemeteries reflect the ethnic, religious, and socio-economic heritages of the city.
Architecturally, they are predominantly above ground tombs, family tombs, civic association tombs, and wall vaults, often in neo-classical design and laid out in regular patterns similar to city streets. They are at times referred to colloquially as “Cities of the Dead”, and some of the historic cemeteries are tourist destinations.

The Angel face you see is the Haserot, named “The Angel of Death Victorious". The stoic angel is seated on the marble gravestone of canning entrepreneur Francis Haserot and his family. Holding an extinguished torch upside-down, it represents a symbol of life extinguished. Wings are outstretched and the gaze is straight ahead.
IN THE END, DEATH ALWAYS WINS. LEST THE FACES NOT BE FORGOTTEN...
This channel is focused on casually walking and viewing a handful of the thousands of forgotten names and faces at various cemeteries near and afar. Seeing their faces up close. And when able, telling the stories behind their names.
Most graves are unknown and lost to history.
Some are famous.
And some infamous....
....and some with tragic endings.

Playing jazz at the end was unique. Thank you.
I usually don't like unsolved cases, the fact that these monsters got away with killing ppl bothers me. Even when they find the killer 20-40 yrs later, that are still amongst the living. They basically lived most of their lives. Thank you for sharing this story, I did enjoy it, I always love the older stories. Ron, u did another great job thank u,& God Bless 🙏 My these ppl forever RIP.💐
Can't wait.I believe this was touched on in American Horror

I probably be asleep, but I will watch the replay, enjoy watching about forgotten faces, someone love one
I love the music! Thanks Ron.😊
May all the victims Rest in peace. Thank you Ron.
Just gets better n better here 💕
Wow, I wonder why I've never heard of this until you covered it. How bizarre and awful this period must have been in that city! Just so creepy to imagine frightened people playing jazz and making music to deter a killer from visiting their home, especially since jazz is generally so fun and upbeat sounding! Ugh! Whoever this was, they must have really enjoyed the control they had over New Orleans. It was sinister, like the Ripper, claiming to be sent from hell and taunting people. I loved the jazz piece at the end and was pleased you stopped by one families ' tomb to pay respects. May all these victims rest in peace !
Such creepy going ons in New Orleans 😮
Wow...and the murderer took his secret to his grave. That's some story, Ron!
You always get the most interesting stories!! That view and music were really special 👌 😇
Gonna be a great one
Wow that was quite a creepy story, especially knowing that this serial killer was never caught! One of the more amazing details was the night everyone played jazz, to appease the killer's demands! Pretty wild stuff, never heard about this before. Another top notch job Ron from start to finish. Loved that musical riff at the end playing along with the drone shots, so cool!
Will definitely be tuning in this evening.Skeered but tuning in just the same.Stay safe,Ron.
Amazing story Ron, once again thank you for sharing their story and may they all rest in peace! 🙏🌹
R.i.P to the Maggio family😔 Amazingly sad story, thanks Ron for remembering 💞
I always enjoy and look forward to your history lessons, they are always so interesting. ❤️♥️
Aww Man, they never caught him? How bizarre. I wonder why he quit over some jazz. Good thing, I guess!
I am learning a lot of History with these programs. Thank you so much. Salutes from Tampa, Florida.🎉🎉🎉
Yikes! That was sure creepy!!! I like the drone footage. That's the flattest city I've ever seen😯 and the water is nearly level with the street😵💫
My heart is pounding I can't wait to see this Thank you Ron 👍
Yikes!
Beautiful cemetary! Such an interesting and awful story! Thank you Ron!❤
That was so tragic, I'm glad those people are at peace now. Thanks Ron for sharing their stories.

Ron of all the many careers you've explored in your fascinating life. Your ability of being a master story teller and a videographer. Be the one I love best! Thanks for the special treat. P.S. cemeteries are great but so are aquariums and antique stores.
So sad evil has existed all through time Thanks for all your stories Ron
This story just fits in the culture of New Orleans, a witchy kinda voo doo vibe that's very scary yet intriguing, a unique place it is!👻😳
Such a great story teller! I need to go back and rewatch the explanation of the stepgraves. Keep up the good work FOtF crew.
I had a hunch you were going to do an episode on the Axeman

A GREAT STORY LOVE TO HEAR MORE.
Great video. I love your stuff. Your Dozier School video sent me down the rabbit hole looking at news clips and other videos about the place. Sad but interesting stuff. Thanks for the awesome videos.
Some story , I remember reading about this year's ago and watching several shows on television over the year's , this dude really sends shivers through your spine thinking if you could be his next victim , talking about sleeping with one eye open , I think I would have been sleeping in a chair with a shotgun . Thank you for your video.
Thank you Ron ❤️ Have a blessed weekend ❤️
Very interesting story. It's so impressive the way you delivery the content. Your tone and way of expressing the focus points are excellently complete. Thank you! Be Blessed-Ron.

Another great video!!!
Those were beautiful drone pictures at the end! 😍Never been there, but maybe someday! Definitely a strange story and terrible deaths. So sad. Thank you, Ron! Always appreciate your hard work! Loved the purple T! 😊
Being Italian families (storekeepers possibly paying “protection” racket money) involved one cannot help but wonder if they were Mafioso murders.
the chief suspect in the crimes was Frank "Doc" Mumphrey (1875-1921), who used the alias Leon Joseph Monfre/Manfre. where is he buried.
I have a theory, how the murder got away .

Wow what a crazy story.
Good show, always so interesting. Check into the Murders of the Mosser family of Hammond, Illinois in 1951. All killed by a hitchhiker while on a trip. All buried in the Hammond Cemetary.
If the living could respect each other as much as you respect the dead..the world would be a better place.
Boy that was something to be back at that year very strange feel for the people who lived it at the time pretty freaky Wow is all I can say Good one Ron Rip to you all🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️
So terrifying and so sad for the little girl😰
What a creepy story 😳 especially since the killer was never caught 😢. RIP 😢 😔 🙏 🕊 ☮ to all of the victims 🙏. What a pretty cemetery.
I never heard of him before. That is a very interesting story and I thank you for this touching video! This now seems to be a more macabre story, but since you pay respect to murder victims: will you one day do a documentary about Marc Dutroux victims? He was the literal boogey man in Belgium and Luxembourg. He kidnapped, raped and killed children and even buried some alive. His wife assisted him in his crimes. They imprisoned kids in selfmade dungeons and let them starve to death, refusing to tell police their location. He is a still living monster and I just wonder where the graves of the victims are.
American Horror Story Coven did a segment on the Ax Man. Interesting
I remember this from American Horror Story
RIP ⚘️
Love your videos….greetings from Germany ❤
I love you guys and you to ron
Hmmmmmmmmmm he's really monster 👹👹👹thanks sir very interesting story good job GOD bless you n protect you always all the best 👌🏻👍🏻👌🏻👍🏻❤️❤️❤️❤️
man this story is mad true smh...give me chills!!!!!
Please do the story of Mr & . Mrs. Anthony Armstrong, both parents were murdered by their son!
I watched this in American horror story never acc knew this really happened
Hey Ron, I wonder if, besides the water level thing, there is a cultural element of having those graves erected outside of the ground like this. Because, for once, this cemetery (like those you've visited in Louisiana) looks very much like ours. And Lousiana was first colonized by Frenchmen (hence the name which comes from the ling Louis XIV - yes, I like to pread the meager culture which is mine - sorry...). Amicalemenr, Bobby
I believed he was portrayed in American horror story Coven American horror story is based on various characters and urban legends and some fictional stuff

❤️
Horrible. Poor little girl💔
❤❤❤❤❤❤
🥰🇨🇦🤗
May they all rest in peace, wonder what happened to the are man?
i wonder if it was the valiscer murderer cos he did travel from the west of america leaving a trail of bodies and must of made there way to new Orleans
I hope the two men they had arrested were cleared.
I don't understand these step graves. They don't look deep enough for a burial below. I see some have mausoleum style on top on the majority but simply looking at the video of these step graves perplexes me...if everyone is supposed to be above ground ??? Maybe I need to go back to your last video at this cemetery and can find you answering that there ??? Back then. Thank you for all you do Sir
@FacesoftheForgotten
Жыл бұрын
they are buried 2'-0" below the top of the soil, typically, so just about at the ground level surrounding the stepped plots, because the grave is raised, thus the term "stepped". stepped up. the water table is pretty much at the ground level, maybe below at many places, but not more than a foot or so. NOLA (New Orleans) is a sea level exactly. can't bury people underground.
😔🙏
